I and others (on the Apple support board) have noticed that the right speaker tends to distort when the volume is maxed and if you place the speaker balance to the right it sounds more 'hollow' than the left speaker in general. I've put a 'band aid' on the issue by moving the balance slightly to the left...
The tower speaker just doesn't cut it and I want to hook up my 5.1 Locitech speaker system. I couldn't find any Mac sound cards on newegg and am having trouble finding results anywhere else. What card is recommended by most Mac Pro users? My professions isn't in audio so it doesn't have to be perfect, just something to play games, music, and movies.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.1 Logitech Z4 setup, and the sound is only coming out of the left speaker. I have checked the wires, they are fine, and both speakers do work - but it could be the socket that's the problem. It's plugged into the line-in socket, I have put the output in System Preferences to Headphones, and everything is inserted correctly.
What do I do?
EDIT: My sound system is plugged into the headphones jack. I have tried putting headphones into the headphone jack and the sound also only comes out of the left earbud.
Mine sounds muffled on the left when compared to the right speaker.
Its very noticeable when you play around in your balance settings (max left or max right) that the volumes are different.
My macbook is dysfunctional; it has no sound unless I'm listening on earphones or a speaker.

I'm coming from a Windows PC that had a sound card with both front and rear outputs.
Looking at the Mac Pro, it appears there is only 1 analog out jack?
How do I get all 4 speakers working with surround sound?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was listening a video on my MBP and everything was working fine. I then put my headphones away when I decided to listen to something else so I was what the heck I will just use the speakers but it seems as if they are turned off or something. I keep trying to put the volume up and down and it just comes up with the speaker picture with a circle and line through it. I looked up at the volume in the bar and it is grayed out at fun volume. When I plug in my headphones, the volume turns black again and allows for adjustment.
Did I accidentally turn off my speakers? How do I turn them back on or fix this? They were working totally fine earlier today but now they are not.
I currently have an early 2008 MacBook Pro hooked up to Harman Kardon SoundSticks ii. My cat is the biggest... well.. she knocked the soundsticks over and they broke. I am asking for advice on a new audio system that would sound great with my Mac. As of now I am leaning toward the AudioEngine A-5s.

when using iChat or Skype, only one speaker (R) works. I was told that it was designed this way to save battery power and bandwidth and that it was originally designed this way when most users were on dial-up isn't this called designing for the lowest common denominator?

I check the logs and I dont see any errors. a good method of tracking down the error? Is there a log file for system sounds or do I have to kill each application one by one and wait 2-3 mins between application kills to see if the sound comes back.

Long story short, My iMac stuffed up not long ago so I sent it to Apple to get it fixed (Apple Store Chadstone), I called them a week later, and I�ve been told that they were still working on it. A few days later I called again, they finally found the issue (sort of) and decided to replace the logic board�..anyway, I said OK, they later called me back saying they have replaced it but a new problem occurred, the audio/speaker is not functioning etc� I said well I will just take it back and fix it myself because I need it for �work�, I took it back and this is what I found so far: iMac�s serial number is gone! Oh also, on the repair report paper, it says I purchased this iMac on March 11 2009(March 11 is my birthday BTW), but I actually bought it in Nov 2008, so according to Apple Store, my iMac is now officially out of warranty.

Currently, I'm using really old speakers that, in my opinion, did fine. In other words, I didn't really do any sound studio like activities that warrants me to get the top of the line system.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recorded a single track on GarageBand, and I can only get the audio to come out of the left speaker. There is no sound of any kind coming out of the right speaker. If I pan the track all the way to the right, no sound comes out at all. I've tried duplicating the track and panning one all the way to the left, and then panning another all the way to the right, but I've had no luck with this either.

im on a 17 in i7 ag 500gb machine.
i use skype everyday but i just noticed that the sound from skype is coming only from the right speaker. its weird though because any other sounds from skype, like alerts, come from both. all other sounds are fine on the comp. i tried looking through the settings and nothing is there that i saw that could fix this.
Look at this picture[URL]the upper case, there is a black covering on the speaker grills. Is that a covering under the speaker grills to prevent liquid/small objects from getting in? I spilled some thick liquid (evaporated milk) on it and scared that some got it but would be more at ease if there was that black covering. I have applecare so can i get them to check it out?
