MacBook Pro :: Speaker Turned Off

Mar 16, 2010

I was listening a video on my MBP and everything was working fine. I then put my headphones away when I decided to listen to something else so I was what the heck I will just use the speakers but it seems as if they are turned off or something. I keep trying to put the volume up and down and it just comes up with the speaker picture with a circle and line through it. I looked up at the volume in the bar and it is grayed out at fun volume. When I plug in my headphones, the volume turns black again and allows for adjustment.

Did I accidentally turn off my speakers? How do I turn them back on or fix this? They were working totally fine earlier today but now they are not.

What card is recommended by most Mac Pro users? My professions isn't in audio so it doesn't have to be perfect, just something to play games, music, and movies.

IMac :: External Speaker Sound Only Coming Out Of One Speaker?

Dec 21, 2009

I have a 2.1 Logitech Z4 setup, and the sound is only coming out of the left speaker. I have checked the wires, they are fine, and both speakers do work - but it could be the socket that's the problem. It's plugged into the line-in socket, I have put the output in System Preferences to Headphones, and everything is inserted correctly.

What do I do?

EDIT: My sound system is plugged into the headphones jack. I have tried putting headphones into the headphone jack and the sound also only comes out of the left earbud.

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Connect To Internal Speaker

Apr 21, 2012

I am using Macbook Pro 13'', Mid 2010. Three days ago I attempted to connect the my macbook with an external speaker. It worked, but unfortunately, the setting remains at Digital Out. I first tried plugging my headphone, but I get this static voice, or sort of distorted noise (while playing no music of course); when I played music with my headphone on, I could hear my music along with this static or distorted noise. When I change the settings to Use audio port for Sound Input, it uses the internal speaker to play my music with no static or distorted noise. I have confirmed that my headphones have no problems.

Next I tested the sound on bootcamp window xp. The sound was working perfectly, headphones were working perfectly.

The only problem is when I use mac. When I attempt to increase the volume or decrease it, there would be a speaker symbol with a stop sign at the bottom. Whenever I play an audio and put the headphones out, there would be a red light but will disappear if im not playing any music.  I have tried the toothpick trick and the headphone jack trick. Both fails.

MacBook Pro :: One Speaker Not Working For Certain Programs?

Dec 3, 2014

When I either receive or place a FaceTime call on my MacBook Pro, the left speaker cuts out audio and produces high static.  The right speaker is fine.  The receiving end can also hear the static feedback, but their two speakers work fine.  I have all my iOS devices setup to receive and place FaceTime calls (iPhone 5s, iPad, and MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2011).  If I place or receive the FaceTime calls on my iPhone or iPad, there is no problem.   I've tested the speakers, youtube, iTunes audio, streaming websites, netflix, etc... and all works fine on the MacBook Pro.  Just FaceTime.  I also went into system preferences and the speaker setup is correct (audio in and out - internal speakers). I've also restarted, reinstalled Yosemite...still FaceTime left speaker problem.

Hardware :: MacBook Speaker Volume Increasing?

Jul 2, 2006

I know the issue of the MacBook speaker volume have been discussed elsewhere, but I was wondering if there are any system hacks/applications that can increase the maximum volume?

I don't really use the internal speakers for anything other than system sounds and listening to web-content -- flash videos, youtube, etc. (In other words, if I want to listen to iTunes or a DVD, I'll use headphones or eternal speakers).

The max volume is just *barely* loud enough unless there is absolutely no ambient sound in the room...

MacBook Pro :: Current MBP Speaker Sound Quality?

Jan 5, 2011

For the last two weeks I have been using my new macbook pro. I'm a bit concerned about the sound quality that i get from the speakers. According to specs it has a subwoofer (I know you can't expect much from a tiny laptop) but I still can't really hear any base/low frequencies and it sounds like a tiny cheap transistor radio . The volume is pretty high, I can listen to youtube etc, but its really almost only trebble. I expected a bit more. Is it normal for those macs or is it just mine?

I had Sony Vaio before and then Dell XPS 1530. Sony had way better speakers and even Dell seems to sound a bit less can-like/tiny...
