OS X Server :: Enabling Web Objects Including Wiki And Blog?
Nov 30, 2008
I enabled the web and web objects including wiki and blog in server admin. I set the domain myserver.domain.org undr dns and enabled dns but when I try to enable it on the group level I run into issues. From the server and my mac book pro work group manager does not see the site. From my IMac I can enable it but when I hit save and refresh the changes are gone. I am running server 10.5.
I have installed Lion Server with Web and Profile Manager services. When I log into the profile manager web page I receive the message "Not Found The requested URL /wiki was not found on this server."Â
This maybe posted in the wrong area, apologies if it is. I've been asked by people where I work to setup a Wiki. Now my initial thoughts would be that it has to go on a Windows server but looking around it can be installed/configured on OSX server. My question is, has anyone got a decent idiots guide on how to set this up. I'm waiting for a copy of Leopard server to come in which I believe has a Wiki function built in, does anyone have any experience on this?
Right now I am able to view my Wiki data only through [URL] when I try [URL] I get a 404 Not Found. One thing that I think is interesting is that [URL] and [URL] both give me the "Welcome to Lion Server" page. I enabled the Wiki service and the Web service both through the Server application. My first thought was that I needed to configure a "Web Site" under the Web service to point to the proper directory location (such as in Snow Leopard Server). I've tried several different directories for the "Store Site Files In" field, such as "/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default" and "/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/public" to no avail. The Lion Server documentation shows how to migrate wikis, but I didn't see anything about configuring the service (either in the Wiki service or the Web service).Â
I am using lion server and when I try to edit the content on the default wiki and click save, the screen just stays in a loop stating "Checking the page status...".
I want to be able to use basic html tags like forms, iframes etc...etc.. in my Wiki in 10.7.3 Lion server. I just can't find any definitive information on how to allow these types of tags etc...previous versions seemed to talk of a whitelist....but I can find nothing on my server like this. Any attempt to add them seems to get stripped when I go and save the wiki page.Â
After we upgraded from 10.6.8 server to 10.7.4 server the wiki is not working. Is there a way to move the files over from the old wiki pages to the new one? how would I go about doing this? Everything else seems fine. It also seems that the whole web services is running really slow.
I've installed apache 2 on my system so I am not running the default apache server. I'd like to get some type of blog ability. I could not figure out how to tie in to the existing blog software that came with Mac OS X server. So, I'm curious if anyone knows how to do that. And if not, does anyone have any suggestions of a blog software package that is simple to set up.
I recently set up OS X Server 10.4 (Tiger) on an old G4 for my home office use and so far it's been running beautifully. As I was learning how to get it up and running, I created a blog to document the process. If you're starting off on a similar endeavor, it might be helpful. If anything, it'll give you an idea of what setting up OS X Server entails. The link to the OS X Server 10.4 tutorial: [URL]. I also put together a tutorial on setting up the AMP package (Apache, MySQL, and PHP) on OS X client and server: [URL]
I am new here but I have been wanting to turn my mac into a server, or make it possible to connect to it and the hard drives connected to it, anywhere. I would like this for school as well as for my family and friends. I have a lot of movies and things of that nature that are on my mac mini or the hard drive connected to it, that I need. And most of the time when I need the files I am not on my home network. I tried macinstructs thing about the turning my mac into an FTP server. but it didnt work.
I know I can access the blog from the internet [URL]. I have a link on our web site set up for surfers to access this blog. I want to add a last updated line but the code [updated: <!--#flastmod virtual="http://mysever.com/users/username/" -->] obviously won't work because I need the actual web page name. Just what is this name? Where can I find it?

I'm running 10.7.3 Server to host a Wiki with a local business. Everything is running great except for one thing. Embedded media.
Whenever we attach video files or keynote media, it will play back on the machine we posted it from but once anyone else pulls up the content on their machine it will show a media playback bar but will not play back. We've tried .mov, .m4v, .mp4 etc. and it will never play back.
I'm running the OSX Lion Wiki, and using Time Machine to backup the server.
To test my backup, I restored a new computer from the TM drive. What I found was that the Wiki wasn't being properly restored. Â
Digging in, I found the following:Â
- System log indicates an error from ServerBackup during postgre backup:
Apr 24 14:11:11 radioserve ServerBackup[31725]: Error in calling backup command for service postgresql, error :=69Â
- The postgre database does appear to be backing up (getting dumped into a file), but then the required tarball isn't being created. A scan of /Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup shows only the dumpall file, and its size and time stamp do update each Time Machine backup instance.
I installed Lion Server on a MacMini to run a shared Wiki calendar, and all is quite well, I got the Wiki calendar page up and running and the iCal clients have successfully subscribed to it.The problem: external users can'tl log in from the internet. On our LAN they can reach the Wiki Home page at http://10.x.y.z/wiki but how do they log in from the internet ?We have a DynDNS host name, but [url] brings up an empty page.I forwarded port 8080 to our server. I did checkip -checkhostname and it looked alright to me. The server has a FQDN ourserver.name.private. that points to 10.x.y.z and the reverse lookup points to the server name.Â
Can anyone tell me how to group objects in iweb like you can in powerpoint. I would like to group together a photo and text box without having to move them separately all the time.
Recently have not been able to drag widows, folders, or files on my desktop. Nor have I been able to draw boxes (text or picture) in PhotoShop or InDesign. If, for instance, you want to move a window in FireFox to accomodate another window, when you go to grab the bar at the top of the page to drag it it won't move; sometimes the result will pop the window to the Dock. Also trying to select text is very erratic; you can't always select the text you need. You can pretty well set the cursor anywhere, but that's about it. The scroll arrows work, but not the scroll bar if you grab it. At first I thought it was the Apple optical mouse, but I moved it to my laptop and it functions fine. I've tried trashing the Finder and Desktop Pref files, but that didn't work. I ran the Hardware Diagnostics off of the installer disk, but that didn't find anything wrong. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running the most up-to-date OS that I can on this machine; 10.4.11. Asside from this quirky thing, it's always run fine.
New Mac user. I opened Podcast collection in Launchpad and I cannot close the program since the back button is not active and I cannot continue since I dont know the name of a server. An ikon was created on the desk top which I cannot remove. How do I remove ikons from the desk top? Also where is the delete button/function?
i have a video playing and a box in the top right corner of my screen as a different group. The video is at 0 on the Z plane , but the box is at 1000. I'm trying to draw a line from the bottom left corner of the box to a point in the centre of my screen (line is in the same group as the box) that I've motion tracked. I can make the whole group move fine if i set the the z plane position to 0 but I'd like to be able to move the camera in to get a DOF effect on the box. How can I anchor one end of the line to the corner of the box (Z position 1000) and the other to the motion tracked point on the video (z position 0)Â Â
updated a server from 10.6.8 to 10.7.3 Lion server. Most of the data is working on the new server. iCal is working as expected, but the wiki didn't work. Reimported the data with wikiadmin migrate -r Backup/ Collaboration -g wiki or wikiadmin migrate -r Backup/ Collaboration. On the server page I see the imported wikis, but some of the site get back an error: Routing Error No route matches "/wiki/4c548/site.html"Also none od the attachments are working The link is showing up as: url.....When hovering the file it show's the right filename...How can i clear the SQL database just for that wiki an reimport the data?
What is the best blog writing software for the Mac (besides TextEdit ). I am looking for something to the equivalent of Windows Live Writer on the Windows side.
It has been almost a week and I am still not able to publish. I have tried everything. I have deleted the files that iweb help said I should. I go and "publish all" but just before the Archives finish loading ... up pops the error that it can't publish & I should try again.
