A couple weeks ago, I lost the ability to remote in to my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro. However, using the Remoter VNC app. On my iPhone and iPad, I can connect to no problem. The app is configured to log in to the Mac mini using the new Lion method of user name and password. Both Macs were running 10.7.3 and I upgraded them to 10.7.4 yesterday, and it still won't connect from my MacBook.

i have been having issues with mac users who have the new mac book pro with the retina display, apparently the native screen size is too large for the web ex and logmein services to display. they are currently aware of the situation but there is no resolution date, is there any way to lower the resolution. we tried to have some peopel lower the settings but there is no resolution setting where the user can lower it to a much smaller size like 1024 x 768. the web ex app is usally ran through java.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I have a g4 mac mini running 10.5 and I am trying to share from wireless to ethernet. I have that all set up in the internet sharing setup. I've tried many different tutorials online and I just keep running into an error saying it cant resolve the dns servers or whatever.
My router IP is 192.168.2.1
My macs IP is 192.168.2.10
I have the DNS numbers from my ISP
On the xbox I enter the ip of the xbox as 192.168.2.22
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (router)
Then my DNS numbers manually set, I've also tried using my macs and routers IP's as DNS and no dice. I just keep getting the same DNS error. i have a bunch of ports for xbox live opened to my xbox IP. It worked for me at one point when i was using tiger but now it wont on leopard.
New to the Mac World and trying to set things up for all our users. We have 5 (2adults,3kids) and I'm keen to be able to share some files with other members of my family and would like to know the easiest way in doing this.
A couple of things to note;
- The two adults are the admin's
- Would like to share some photos between users (family photos are usually organized by my wife so I don't get to see them)
- I'd like to let my kids view some of my videos that I've downloaded but not all of them.

We have a Mac Mini which is our media player. I have all the actual media on an external USB drive. The previous drive was failing, so I've now copied everything over to the new drive. The new drive has the same name as the old drive: Media Drive. As far as the Mac Mini itself goes, all is well.
However, we also access the media drive through filesharing from our other Macs. Now with the new drive, it doesn't appear in filesharing. So I went into filesharing. I removed the old Media Drive (it said it couldn't locate it, because of course it's gone). Then I added the new Media Drive. Still it doesn't appear in filesharing.

I am trying to use Mac Mini as my home server (as well as media server).I tried to share the folder and all, but I cannot see the external drives that are attached to Mac Mini.
If I remote in as Admin, I can see the main HDD, but nothing else. As Guest, I don't see anything.From Windows PCs, Mac Mini doesn't even appear on the network list.
Back story: Trying to share a printer attached to a PPC Mac Mini John Galt recommended I bring this discussion over to this board; in retrospect, I probably should've started here, as my issue is more likely tied to the OS than to the computer it's running on. Short story: I'm using a PPC Mac Mini running 10.5.8 as a headless print server, the other Macs in the house printing through it to a couple of printers I have... only the print jobs never seem to arrive. The client Macs think they're delivering the goods, but my ersatz print server is clueless as to the existence of these print jobs.

I just ran the Boot Camp utility and installed Windows 7 on my Mac Mini. Everything seems to work pretty well. From Windows I can see the Mac partition and from Mac I can see the Windows partition. Each OS has it's own Users file structure. Now, I recently converted over to Mac this month and have over a decade worth of files from my PC that I plan to migrate over. Best-case, I would like to be able to easily access those files no matter what OS I am using. Should I create a 3rd partition for just files? Pick either the Mac or Windows partition to be the master for the files? Can each OS easily use a different folder for the Users files (I know I was able to do it with Vista in the past, not sure about SL).

But when I try to drag a file to the desktop of the mini-server, I get asked for a password. I type in the password; it gets accepted. Then I get a dialog: "A newer version of do you want to replace...?" When I click "yes," I get another dialog:

It doesnt give an error message other than "Connection could not be established. We've done it before with no issues. If I try sharing my screen with her it works with no problem. And we are able to do video chatting. We both use 10.5.5 and we are on good web connections.

I tried using Messages today to share my friend's screen but kept getting this error message:Â
Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
At first we tried using our iCloud accounts but screen sharing just wouldn't initiate. I tried doing a video conference just to test the connection and video worked without a problem. Then we tried using our Gmail accounts and still couldn't get a screen sharing session to initiate.
I had my friend adjust her Screen Sharing preferences in System Preferences (we tried half a dozen combinations) but I am fairly certain that one can use screen sharing in Messages with iCloud accounts without turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences. Either way, turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences did not work.

When I try logging in, with 'iMac' as the name and 'password' as the password, it says that the details are inaccurate, yet I'm fine to login to view folders. The Mac I'm using to login runs Leopard (lates updates) and the other uses Tiger (latst updates), but still, I'm fine to connect to another Mac using Tiger to share the screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that just switched to the Macbook pro and Timemachine and I set them up with iChat using their MobileMe name and I was able to screen share while I was there and video chat later at home. Today she needed help so I was going to screen share from work but it comes back immediately as 'XX has declined your invitation'.
It does not even pop up on her side for authorization. I can type / text her in iChat and that works. I had her send me a 'Ask to share my screen' request which I got, then when I accepted it it failed.
I can turn right around and screen share with my wife at home so I know my side is working. Is there anything in the TimeMachine (used as router to cable modem) that could be causing this or some other setting I am missing? I will have to try from home later.
I thought it was odd that it says declined right away. I have secure connection turned on and it shows we are chatting securely.
I was on youtube and I saw a gentleman who was sharing his desktop in the video and in the lower right corner there is a small box that showed him. It was a tutorial. I would like to do something like this for a school project. I want to be able to share my screen and still have others be able to see me. Soo...I just picked up a mini to run plex and use as a media center. Hooking it up to my projector via VGA cable. When I set the display settings to the native resolution on the projector there is a small black line or bar down the left hand side of the screen. I looked at the firewall settings and it has checked "Allow all connections," but I dont know what else it could be. Also, in iChat wen I click his name and go to ask to share his screen, that too is greyed out. Edit: I told them to go to the iChat menu video and click screen sharing, but that is greyed out as well. I can screenshare with her, but not him. The connection doctor has Screen sharing and Multiperson video chat Xed out due to a slow connection. So I guess I shouldn't be able to connect to either of the, but I can connect to hers, so I should be able to connect to his.
