I've got a Macbook Pro on 10.6 and a power mac G4 on 10.4 which i want to screen share. i have done up all the settings on system pref, and i can view my power mac 10.4 screen on my macbook pro 10.6, but not the other way around. the screen share application on my 10.4 can't seem to open, like it bounces on the dock a couple of times, then disappears.

Since the Yosemite upgrade, Screen Sharing App seems to try opening an afp share first when connecting via a vnc:// shortcut... It takes a while before being connected in VNC (2-3 minutes) !Â
Remote has been configured via a command line found in an other discussion in this board (Upgraded to Yosemite and can no longer remote into my work iMac through screen sharing- it is turned on in settings?. Connecting via the RealVNC App is super fast (like 5 sec).configuration was exactly the same in Mavericks and it worked well and fast !Â

I want to see the screen of a Tiger machine on my Leopard machine - the Tiger machine is not on a local network but is on the internet. I have Apple remote Desktop 3.2, maybe leopards ichat will do it?

i have a windows pc desktop, and a macbook. I often find myself transferring the odd file to mac, and its a long winded process as my pc is strange. Can i just set up a folder on my pc which my mac can access wirelessly? neetwork? would this be via internet? wi fi? bluetooth? I would just like to access and download the file to mac, wirelessly. is this possible? ive noticed on my mac finder window i sometimes have my desktop pc listed under the shared heading. but ive never learnt what and how this is possible.

We will be loosing idisk in june. We need to share files with other companies. IS it possilbe to have a folder on my desktop that a client in another city can access. Only that one folder. The "company" wants to be able to keep files on it for reference and to make occassional changes to. Just like they now do with our idisk.

Our environment has multiple Windows file servers, both 2003 and 2008. If one of these SMB shares is accessed from a Mac and the user creates a folder, will the ACLs on the share that are set to cascade actually cascade to this newly created folder? We've had issues in the past where ACLs that are supposedly set to cascade on a shared folder are not present on sub-folders created from Macs.Next question: if the share resides on a netapp device, do the same rules apply? The Macs are still connecting to these shared folders using the SMB protocol. All Macs are bound to our 2008 AD domain and use network accounts with local homefolders. The issue seems to happen when one or both of the following things happen:
1. A Mac user copies/creates a folder on a Netapp share and for some reason it doesn't inherit rights correctly
2. We move the folder from one share on an actual Windows server to the Netapp and it doesn't take permissions correctly.

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and found that a function I used to use isn't available anymore, but not sure if I just need to configure it or something.
What I'd like to be able to do is when I drag a file over an external hard drive disk image, I like for that to open so I can choose the sub-directory where I'd like to place the file. How can I set up 10.6.x to allow me to do this?
This week I bought mij first macbook pro. so I new in osx. I have a ubuntu 14.04 server running with samba 4.1.6. From a Windows or linux computer is can acces the shares just fine.
When i try to acces the share from my macbook i can open the share but when I try to open an folder with allot of files/folders the is empty in finder, i thought first it was a performance issue so I've waited for 30 minutes but still empty. smaller Folders ik can open in finder.
In console there his no error on the server the logfile has also no error...
Can I upload .sit files to share with people like I did using the "Public" folder of MobileMe? Also can the uploaded files be password-protected? I bascially need the same functionality of the Public folder in MobileMe.

It doesnt give an error message other than "Connection could not be established. We've done it before with no issues. If I try sharing my screen with her it works with no problem. And we are able to do video chatting. We both use 10.5.5 and we are on good web connections.

A couple weeks ago, I lost the ability to remote in to my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro. However, using the Remoter VNC app. On my iPhone and iPad, I can connect to no problem. The app is configured to log in to the Mac mini using the new Lion method of user name and password. Both Macs were running 10.7.3 and I upgraded them to 10.7.4 yesterday, and it still won't connect from my MacBook.

I tried using Messages today to share my friend's screen but kept getting this error message:Â
Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
At first we tried using our iCloud accounts but screen sharing just wouldn't initiate. I tried doing a video conference just to test the connection and video worked without a problem. Then we tried using our Gmail accounts and still couldn't get a screen sharing session to initiate.
I had my friend adjust her Screen Sharing preferences in System Preferences (we tried half a dozen combinations) but I am fairly certain that one can use screen sharing in Messages with iCloud accounts without turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences. Either way, turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences did not work.
My friend and I need screen share with each other, we can't find a direct root. We both have MacBook Pros. She needs to play something on her laptop in NYC and I need to see it in LA.Â

When I try logging in, with 'iMac' as the name and 'password' as the password, it says that the details are inaccurate, yet I'm fine to login to view folders. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that just switched to the Macbook pro and Timemachine and I set them up with iChat using their MobileMe name and I was able to screen share while I was there and video chat later at home. Today she needed help so I was going to screen share from work but it comes back immediately as 'XX has declined your invitation'.
It does not even pop up on her side for authorization. I can type / text her in iChat and that works. I had her send me a 'Ask to share my screen' request which I got, then when I accepted it it failed.
I can turn right around and screen share with my wife at home so I know my side is working. Is there anything in the TimeMachine (used as router to cable modem) that could be causing this or some other setting I am missing? I will have to try from home later.
I thought it was odd that it says declined right away. I have secure connection turned on and it shows we are chatting securely.
I was on youtube and I saw a gentleman who was sharing his desktop in the video and in the lower right corner there is a small box that showed him. It was a tutorial.
