OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Trying To Share A Printer Attached To A PPC Mac Mini?
Jun 5, 2012
Back story: Trying to share a printer attached to a PPC Mac Mini John Galt recommended I bring this discussion over to this board; in retrospect, I probably should've started here, as my issue is more likely tied to the OS than to the computer it's running on. Short story: I'm using a PPC Mac Mini running 10.5.8 as a headless print server, the other Macs in the house printing through it to a couple of printers I have... only the print jobs never seem to arrive. The client Macs think they're delivering the goods, but my ersatz print server is clueless as to the existence of these print jobs.

I'v been running Leopard on my wife's MacBook Pro since we got it in May. We have a Canon MF4150 attached to it via USB and have been sharing it out from the Mac. I have been using Bonjour and have been printing just fine from both my XP machine and my daughter's Vista machine. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard. I upgraded the drivers to the Snow Leopard compatible drivers from Canon and everything prints fine from the Mac. However, whenever we try to print from one of the Windows machine I get this popup on the Mac: "Canon UFR II Printer Driver key value specified for ticket does not exist.: 15512" And the printer is now "paused" whatever that means. When I try to unpause it, I get that some popup error. I end up having to delete the printer and re-add it to get printing (from the Mac) working again. I've deleted and re-added the printer many times. I even went to far as to remove the drive on the Mac manually (according to Canon's directions) and reinstall. I've deleted/recreated the printers on Windows using the Bonjour wizard.

I have a iMAC running 10.5.5 and have connected a HP Photosmart C6280 Printer to it via the USB cable. Using Bonjour to connect a XP and a Vista box I get a error saying "ERROR You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". I am logged in as the administrator when I do it on the XP or Vista computer and have completed this function on other printer installation before so I know the permissions are there. The software for the printer is loaded on both windows computers.

I have 2 new I-Mac computers set up on a home network. I have my new Canon D480 Multifunction printer connected to one of the Macs ("Mac #1) by USB and it prints perfectly with the driver recommended in the printer manual downloaded from the Canon site. I have Printer sharing turned on. The printer's name on Mac #1 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) which is the name that was automatically given to the printer when I downloaded the drivers and installed them.
However I am unable to print to the printer from the second new Mac ("Mac #2") although I have downloaded the same printer driver and have added the printer on Mac #2. The printer's name on Mac #2 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) @ Mac #1.I go through the motions of File, Print, but nothing happens.

I have been trying everything I can think of to get 2 PC's on our home network to print on my Canon MP610 which is connected via USB to my MacBook Pro and the two PC's recognise the printer and add it as a device but when I try to print, the message "access denied, unable to connect" is displayed. If it's of any relevance, I cannot get the PC's to access the Public folder on the MBP over the network either.

I wanted to add a powered 7 port USB plus this belkin hub but don't know in what order.Â

I checked other post and MROOGLE but didn't find an answer to this question. I am interested in purchasing a Mac Mini, but due to the small size of the internal HDD I would have to have an External HDD attached for iTunes Media. Will Time Machine allow me to backup my internal HDD and External HDD to an additional External HDD...?

I'm trying to share a printer that is connected to a Mac Pro with a Windows PC that sits adjacent to it. I've done the opposite before quite easily (share a printer connected to a PC with a Mac), but I've been having a time getting it working in reverse. Any idea how I might go about doing this? I've obviously enabled printer sharing but I'm having a difficult time getting Windows to see the printer.

I'm current sharing my printer in OS X to both a Macbook and Windows laptop. I often switch between OS X and Windows, so is there any way to share the printer using the same settings from both operating systems? It would be more convenient obviously if it wasn't necessary to check which OS the desktop's currently in beforehand.

I have a USB printer connected to an iMac running 10.9.4. Printer sharing is turned on.I also have a MacBook Air, running 10.9.4. It does not see the printer.Â
All the instructions from Apple say I can share printers with "other Macs on the same network". I guess the MBA isn't "on the same network" as the iMac. How do I get them "on the same network" so the MacBook Air can see and print to the iMac's printer?

I need some advice, I have a wireless printer that I would like to share using my home network but Im not sure what would be the best way to do this, since I have never done anything like this before. What I have is a wireless printer(HP), a MacBook (wirelessly connected), a MacMini (wired connected), a PC laptop (wirelessly connected) and a linksys router. Is there a way to share this through my router or do I need to install the printer in one of the machines and then share the print? What would be my best alternative to share this printer?

This looked like the best place to post this. I have two computers in my home, a 20" iMac with Leopard and a Desktop Dell with XP. There is an usb printer connected to the Dell, but its upstairs. The computers are connected through an ethernet cable. I was wondering if there was a way to print archives from the iMac to the usb printer. What i have been doing is either sharing the files and inserting them to a shared folder on windows xp or sending them to myself via email. I find both processes extremely annoying and boring, and would rather instead just directly send a command to the printer.

Please excuse that I don't know much, but...is there anway that I can hook my USB computer up to this router so that they can share this? It is an HP all-in one. I don't mind buying exra cables if I coud print off of both computers.

I know how to connect a Mac to a printer which is being shared by a windows machine. That seems easy enough. But my Dad has the opposite problem in that he has a printer connected to an Intel iMac and my mom wants to print to that printer from her Windows XP machine. I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

I have a Apple mac and currently my Epson deskjet printer is connected to it via usb cable. My wife and I both have Windows XP laptops and I would like to know if it is possible to send word documents to the printer over the home wifi network. This would save having to take the usb connector out of the imac and plug it into the laptop, also the imac drives the Epson so much better than the HP laptop my wife uses. Then just to be brave is it possible to print documents directly from my iphone for super braveness, my wife's blackberry.

I've spent the morning trying to get printer sharing to work for the following situation, additionally illustrated by the attached image: I have a network centered around a Belkin router. An iMac is connected to it with an Ethernet cable, a HP PSC 2110 printer is in turn connected to the iMac with a USB cable.
Wirelessly, a number of laptops connect to the network. There is a MacBook Pro, that doesn't have a single issue whatsoever. Also, there is a DELL Inspiron 9400 running XP with Service Pack 3, protected by a McAfee security suite. What I'm desperately trying to do, is to enable the DELL to wirelessly print from the HP printer connected to the iMac. Obviously the iMac itself is able to print, and the MacBook Pro plays nice as well.
Now, there are about a million threads on this topic, with situations quite similar, but none of the solutions proposed anywhere seem to get the whole thing running. For this reason, I decided to have people shine their light on exactly my own situation, in case I am missing something.
The Bonjour software on the DELL is up-to-date, but giving the "No Bonjour printers are available" message (I'm not sure about the exact wording, since in my situation it is in Dutch.) The McAfee firewall is set to allow Bonjour full network access, and additionally UDP port 5353 is opened up. Obviously Printer Sharing is turned on on the iMac.I'm at a complete loss, so I came here to look for an answer. Or someone to tell me to forget it, it's not going to happen. I'd take anything right now.
