i have been having issues with mac users who have the new mac book pro with the retina display, apparently the native screen size is too large for the web ex and logmein services to display. they are currently aware of the situation but there is no resolution date, is there any way to lower the resolution. we tried to have some peopel lower the settings but there is no resolution setting where the user can lower it to a much smaller size like 1024 x 768. the web ex app is usally ran through java.

I want to see the screen of a Tiger machine on my Leopard machine - the Tiger machine is not on a local network but is on the internet. I have Apple remote Desktop 3.2, maybe leopards ichat will do it?
Can someone run me through it step by step??
A couple weeks ago, I lost the ability to remote in to my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro. However, using the Remoter VNC app. On my iPhone and iPad, I can connect to no problem. The app is configured to log in to the Mac mini using the new Lion method of user name and password. Both Macs were running 10.7.3 and I upgraded them to 10.7.4 yesterday, and it still won't connect from my MacBook.

It doesnt give an error message other than "Connection could not be established. We've done it before with no issues. If I try sharing my screen with her it works with no problem. And we are able to do video chatting. We both use 10.5.5 and we are on good web connections.

I tried using Messages today to share my friend's screen but kept getting this error message:Â
Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
At first we tried using our iCloud accounts but screen sharing just wouldn't initiate. I tried doing a video conference just to test the connection and video worked without a problem. Then we tried using our Gmail accounts and still couldn't get a screen sharing session to initiate.
I had my friend adjust her Screen Sharing preferences in System Preferences (we tried half a dozen combinations) but I am fairly certain that one can use screen sharing in Messages with iCloud accounts without turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences. Either way, turning on Screen Sharing in System Preferences did not work.
screen share with another Mac on the network that I've recently setup to be a server. When I try logging in, with 'iMac' as the name and 'password' as the password, it says that the details are inaccurate, yet I'm fine to login to view folders. The Mac I'm using to login runs Leopard (lates updates) and the other uses Tiger (latst updates), but still, I'm fine to connect to another Mac using Tiger to share the screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that just switched to the Macbook pro and Timemachine and I set them up with iChat using their MobileMe name and I was able to screen share while I was there and video chat later at home. Today she needed help so I was going to screen share from work but it comes back immediately as 'XX has declined your invitation'.
It does not even pop up on her side for authorization. I can type / text her in iChat and that works. I had her send me a 'Ask to share my screen' request which I got, then when I accepted it it failed.
I can turn right around and screen share with my wife at home so I know my side is working. Is there anything in the TimeMachine (used as router to cable modem) that could be causing this or some other setting I am missing? I will have to try from home later.
I thought it was odd that it says declined right away. I have secure connection turned on and it shows we are chatting securely.
I was on youtube and I saw a gentleman who was sharing his desktop in the video and in the lower right corner there is a small box that showed him. It was a tutorial. I would like to do something like this for a school project. I want to be able to share my screen and still have others be able to see me. However, I was trying to google it and couldn't find what I was looking. I tried typing in "screen sharing and webcam". That didn't work and tried to rephrase it a few times!! Can anyone help me? What program did they use? Can I use my imovie 09, is there a tutorial for it? I went to Apple.com and looked at all the imovie tutorial. Something like this if you can't understand what I'm trying to say. [URL:...]

I am trying to connect to my girlfriend's father's Macbook, and you can't connect to his computer, but I can connect to her computer on the same network. I looked at the firewall settings and it has checked "Allow all connections," but I dont know what else it could be. Also, in iChat wen I click his name and go to ask to share his screen, that too is greyed out. Edit: I told them to go to the iChat menu video and click screen sharing, but that is greyed out as well. I can screenshare with her, but not him. The connection doctor has Screen sharing and Multiperson video chat Xed out due to a slow connection. So I guess I shouldn't be able to connect to either of the, but I can connect to hers, so I should be able to connect to his.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince the Yosemite upgrade, Screen Sharing App seems to try opening an afp share first when connecting via a vnc:// shortcut... It takes a while before being connected in VNC (2-3 minutes) !Â
Remote has been configured via a command line found in an other discussion in this board (Upgraded to Yosemite and can no longer remote into my work iMac through screen sharing- it is turned on in settings?. Connecting via the RealVNC App is super fast (like 5 sec).configuration was exactly the same in Mavericks and it worked well and fast !Â

I'm having problems screen sharing between an iMac running Snow Leopard and a G4 iBook running Tiger. I have been trying to remotely screen share the iMac from the iBook. I enabled screen sharing on the iMac, and set a password for VNC. Then I tried two different clients on the iBook - Chicken of the VNC, and JollysFastVNC. Both exhibit the same symptoms: they claim the password for vnc access is incorrect, but I KNOW the password is correct, and I have tried several different ones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I am in the office connected via the local LAN the share screen button in Finder is displayed. When I am at home anc connected via broadband I can still see the server and shares but I have no share screen button. Is there a preference that needs to be set somewhere to enable the remote share screen or is it more likely to be a firewall issue with a blocked port?

Apple writes in its OS X Lion screen sharing description that: "You can remotely log in to a Mac with any user account on that computer and control it, without interrupting someone else who might be using the computer under a different login."Â
Unfortunately, this is not true in my case: When other users are using my 2011 iMac for webbrowsing or DVD watching and I log in on my own acount from my macbook pro, video will stop playing, the spinning wheel sometime appears. The system does not really crash, but wil respond very slowly and in fact is not useable until I as remote user stop my activities or log out. This is not how it should be, especially as the iMac's CPU, memory and network load are very low according to activity monitor's information.Â
