I have 2 Mac Pros that we use stricly as editing systems. I work on an Air Force base and money is not flowing like it used to, so please bear with me.I don't have a server, but was wondering if I can connect my two mac pro editing systems together so that we could have access to each other projects.Is that possible? If so what would I need to have to complete this?
View 3 RepliesSince it doesn't support WPA encryption, its more or less useless to me. I pulled out the Airport card (its a snow model), but now i'm left wondering what to do with the rest of it. The enclosure is so cool looking, I would feel bad to just throw it away.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an airport base station. I have 3 macs and 3 iphones. My Macbook pro is right by the airport base station and my other two macs are downstairs. Forsome reason my airport is acting up. The computers downstairs can not connect. It would should that there is a wireless conneciton but when i click to connect it would ask for password. After i enter the correct password it says invalid password. So after i do that i take the same computer upstairs right by the airport it would connect. Then i go back downstairs it would work but after i put computer in standby and turn it back on it has same problem. All my computers and iphones are doing this!

I talked with a apple senior support engineer and he told me that i have to make a research and fix it myself ). He cant help on this issue. And another apple support engineer acknowledges that this is AirPort base station issue and he cant do anything and he will go with me for another router...( untill apple come up with a fix.....((
AirPort base station has VPN issues.

I am interested in developing a database at work (a medical research laboratory), and was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent database program. We currently have the following computers in the lab:
- Power Mac G4 running Jaguar (could upgrade to Tiger if need be)
- Power Mac G5 running Tiger
- Power Mac G5 running Leopard
- Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon running Leopard
It would be extremely useful if the database program could sync databases, such that changes that one user makes on the database is transmitted to the other Macs (if so, we would require a server? Could we just convert one of the macs over to being a server? which one would be best?).
Specifically, if the database could be extremely user friendly, that would be great. Its just for keeping track of what reagents we have, what protocols we have, what cell lines we have, etc. etc.
I have an Airport Base station. I need to reset this base station back to the factory defaults. I want to wipe away all settings.
First, how do I determine which kind of Base station that I have? The base station is white with two cat5 jacks, USB, and telephone jack. I think it is a dual port station. I don't know if this would a Graphite or Snow model.
Second, how do I reset the base station. Do I use the small reset button on the back of the unit? OR do I use Airport Base Utility software? If so, which version should I use? I am using OS 10.4.11.
Third, does anyone know of a good user manual for this particular model?
I am having great difficulty accessing my work VPN via my Airport Extreme Base Station (N model, 2007), and I wonder whether anybody can help? I was getting no joy accessing my work VPN (using my works laptop) via the AEBS (i have Virgin Cable Broadband). Citrix would not connect at all. Getting very frustrated and suspecting it was something to do with my ISP, I ended up buying a cheap second hand Belkin Wireless G cable router just to double check that it wasnt a problem with my hardware. To my utter shock, I managed to connect first time using the Belkin Wireless G router to the VPN. This obviously meant there must be an issue with the Airport Extreme Base station. The question is, what? I am utterly confused, and haven't a clue where to start in terms of adjusting the settings, and what settings I actually need to change to try and solve this. Has anybody any ideas where to start? Why can I connect via the Belkin Router (which cost me �9 on ebay) and the vastly more expensive Apple router?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm getting rather panicky now. I was trying to connect to a network drive on my MacBook when I got a beachball. Nothing would work, not even force quit would come up. So I held down the power button until it went off, and then switched it back on again. It got as far a blank blue screen but no further. I tried it again and this time it didn't get past the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel.So I took the battery out, unplugged from the mains and held the power button down for over 10 seconds. Then held down Command Alt P R to reset the PRAM. That didn't solve anything.This is the first reboot since some security updates on Saturday past. I'm running Leopard and it's an oldish Macbook, Core 2 Duo with 2 x 2 GB sticks of RAM.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince Tiger and even more so with Leopard, I have found the 'Force Quit' command to be a pointless white elephant.
When the spinning beachball hits it tends to make the application unresponsive and then spread to all other apps. Attempting to bring up the force quit function is equally fruitless. Of course, by the time it eventually pops up, the offending application has either quit itself (I'm looking at you Adobe CS4) or has become responsive again (I'm looking at you Safari).
Has anyone noticed any improvement in Snow Leopards?
my trackpad is frozen and I also could not get force quit to work, I closed the top down and now I cannot get past the login and the cursor will not move, does anyone have any ideas

So here is my deal. I have an airport express base station which i use as my router. It works just fine when i have it as my wireless router for my macbook and my pc when i have it locked using a WPA password. When i have it locked though it will not work with my xbox 360 and linksys wireless gaming adapter [URL:..] which i have. When i unlock the WPA and leave the airport express unlocked it will work with my macbook and my xbox 360, but it then wont work with my pc. I do not personally care about the pc, but my wife does. I also would like to have it locked and WORK with all three devices. Anyone have any suggestions for this lost soul?

I just realized something. Isn't it weird how Apple is offering a larger hard drive for the base MacBook and a smaller hard drive for the base MacBook Pro? The MacBook comes with a 250GB HDD and the Pro comes with a 160GB HDD.

I've already got a 27" iMac and a 32GB iPad. But I'd still like a MBA because they are fantastic machines. I'm thinking I want to swap out my 13 for a base 11 and save the $300.

When I unplug it, I get the warning message about not unplugging drives before ejecting.
