I installed iTunes 10 and hated the new icon so I replaced it with a different one but now I want to switch it back but no longer have the original. Can someone please make a copy of it and upload it for me. To access it just right click iTunes and click ' Show Package Contents' then 'Contents' and then 'Resources'.
I've not got this problem, I just need some clarification on what the process is...
If the original restore discs are lost, what methods are there to restore a Mac back to it's original state (with HDD's wiped). Is it possible to get a set of restore discs from somewhere? Do restore discs from other Macs of the same model work fine? Or will SL need to be bought, upgraded and then wiped after that (I'm hearing SL is actually a full version, so by upgrading and then booting into it again, you can do an erase and install)
Is there a mac equivalent to the PC procedure of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the original operating system to get back its original performance?
So i want to change my folder icons back to their original state, I found a set online with the default leopard icons in PNG format and I tried copying and pasting in the get info screen like you normally would but all i get is that white little preview sheet as the image (see attached screenshot)
I then found out all the original icons are saves in the resources folder so i tried those both in ICNS format and converted one to PNG but still no dice.
Lately I've been messing around with changing a lot of the standard Mac OS X icons like the "Macintosh HD", "iPod", and "Downloads" icons. If, for some reason, I decide to revert back to the original icons.
I was trying to delete one album from itunes, so i quickly ctrl A, delete, move files to trash, enter, then all of a sudden I realize my entire library was highlighted and deleting to my trash can! so now I have a trash can full of music and I can't figure out how to get it all back to itunes music folder or even out of the can! ahh plz help!I guess I can drag Items from the trash to my desktop, but I need to bring back like 9000 things from the trash which all deleted individually so dragging them all to my desktop doesnt sound like a good idea. I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro, however i was never issued with any recovery DVD's. In the event of a full re-instillation how would i be able to restore my system back to original state? When i spoke to the assistant in the apple shop, he told me that they were not required, is this correct? Can i purchase the recovery DVD's from Apple?
I have a bunch of mp3 files that I would like to rename the original file name. Itunes only allows me to change metadata, but to fix broken names and keep organized, I need to change the file name. Once I rename the file, it shows the new name, and then upon playing it, it reverts back to the original name. I do not have any locked permissions. I have parallels and tried to rename them on the windows 7 side but same effect. I tried to shut all programs off so the file was not in use. I even tried to export it as a acc file type. I am exhausted looking for a solution, this is why I am using this forum as a last ditch effort.
How can i format my pc from windows to the original mac os again because i tried quite a lot of times when i format my pc the overview is in window 7 not iMac os x.
Was poking ignorantly into the features of the project library of a project I had on the timeline. Something I did made the project on the timeline to change in appearance to this:
What I had done to get the appearance of clips to change and what I should do to get the appearance back!
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), garage band, FCPX:10.0.9 version
I'm planning of sending in my white macbook to AppleCare for a few repairs regarding the white casing (cracks) but do not want to send in my Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive.
I called AppleCare and they said they prefer it when you send in the original hard drive, for whatever reason they stated. My personal reason why I don't want to send in my 500GB Hard Drive is that I have a ton of files in there that are important and don't have another 300+ hard drive lying around to back everything up. Another reason is that my Leopard Family Pack disc I purchase years ago is at my parent's house in New York and I live in California, so getting it would be a huge hassle considering it's somewhere in boxes of storage and my folks are in Venice till the 15th of June.
Look, essentially what I'm freaking out over is that I've heard many cases that when you send in your computer to applecare, its not uncommon to get a macbook back with an erased hard drive.
I just don't wanna deal with the hassle. So am looking to avoid it altogether. Doing so bytaking out my 500GB HD and popping in the original 80GB HD that the Mac came with. I thought I had Leopard in there but when I put in the 80GB HD in the Macbook and turned on the Mac, a confused faced folder came on and turned off.
I want to send in my Macbook with the 80GB HD and that HD to have Leopard on it...so I decided to do the same method I used when I transferred everything from my 80GB HD to my 500GB HD when I first purchased it.
I used SuperDuper! application, free version...but it didn't work.
I set it up to "Copy: Mac HD to Untitled" (Untitled was the name of the 80GB since I erased it when I got my 500GB HD hoping to use it for Time Machine but never did)
I tried this twice, each time taking about 2 hours to transfer and copy to the untitled HD. I tried "back up all files" & "back up user files." But after this process was done and I popped in the untitled HD into the Mac I continued to get the same confused folder face..twice.
Any help on the matter is really appreciated as I'm highly considering not even sending my Macbook in with the 500GB HD to completely avoid any possible frustation if that HD was to magically erased.
Recently I got a new MacBook Pro. I updated it to the latest version of lion. Whenever I wanted to change my desktop background, it would change immediately no problem but once I shut down or restarted my mac, it would revert back to the original background. Somewhere I read that by deleting com.apple.desktop.plist this problem could be solved. I did that and bingo it solved the problem! But since I am a newbie i would like to know is it fine to do so and what (if any) effects it could have on my mac?
I was wondering whether any of the Apple Hardware Test images disposable from Apple would actually work with any other products not listed (Like the Power Mac G4, in this case), or whether there, by any chance, is a copy of my included install disk elsewhere? This is regarding my 1.42 Hz G4 Mini, see this for details. The disc contains AHT version 1.0 and its ID is 2Z691-5455-A, however, the backside of the DVD looks like it was lost outside the window, picked up by a wind carrying it to the nearest sea with sharks (some thousands of miles), played with by a shark with very sharp teeth, broken into thousand pieces, run through the animals several phases of gastric secretion, collected into a small chunk of plastic fragments, glued together to make it look like the original DVD once shipped with the computer back in '05.
I am curious how I can go about completely uninstalling the airport functionality in my ppc g4 mac mini. I know how to turn airport on and off but I would like to completely uninstall it if at all possible.
Can't seem to find any application folders, plists or configuration files for aiport.
I have one of the first Mac mini's. I upgraded the memory to 80 GB's, the processor is a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4. I'm getting a new Mac Mini that will work in the iCloud. The software is version 10.5.8, the newest the processor can support. It works well, albeit a little slow at times. I want to give the old mini to my 12 year old grandson, and would like to upgrade the keyboard and mouse to the mac magic mouse and wireless keyboard.
i've been using Logic Express 9 for a few months now and started today messing about with the included demo project "The Numbers Game".Unfortunately, I accidentally hit save on a change and now have fundamentally affected the demo.
If I do a re-install of Logic Express 9 will this wipe out or affect my other projects in any way? I really don't want to lose any of the work I've done so far, but would really like to have back the original demo project as a learning tool.
I got my Mac Mini from my moms friend (for free) so I don't have the disks that came with the computer, but I do have the Snow Leopard upgrade disk and the disks that came with the new MacBook Pro's if that helps. How would I go about doing a clean install on my Mac Mini?
I have a Mac mini running OSX 10.4.11 that I purchased second-hand. It did not come with the original install discs. I want to give it to my grandson now that I have a new i-Mac, but cannot figure out how to remove myself from the Admin position and substitute him.
