View 1 RepliesI was trying to change the icon of my "Macintosh HD" on my iMac. I'd done this earlier on my Macbook Pro, and I had the same problem as I'm having now. I eventually got it done on the 'Book Pro but I don't remember what I had to do. When clicking "Get Info", in the left-top corner the icon isn't there. It's blank and says "png". Why does the icon not show up? I can't copy-paste it, and it's stuck that way.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed iTunes 10 and hated the new icon so I replaced it with a different one but now I want to switch it back but no longer have the original. Can someone please make a copy of it and upload it for me. To access it just right click iTunes and click ' Show Package Contents' then 'Contents' and then 'Resources'.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt some point I changed the appearance of my PDF icons from the default red and white Adobe PDF image to where the PDF icons show a little image of the front cover of the PDF. Now I would like to change all of my PDF icons back to the default red and white Adobe Reader icon. Does anyone know how to do that please? I have Googled this and see instructions for how to change from the Adobe default to custom but can't figure out how to reverse that.

So far I've had a house, and a filing cabient.
This isn't a serious problem, I'm just wondering whether it's just my computer, or a bug in Lion.

If the original restore discs are lost, what methods are there to restore a Mac back to it's original state (with HDD's wiped). Is it possible to get a set of restore discs from somewhere? Do restore discs from other Macs of the same model work fine? Or will SL need to be bought, upgraded and then wiped after that (I'm hearing SL is actually a full version, so by upgrading and then booting into it again, you can do an erase and install)
Is there a mac equivalent to the PC procedure of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the original operating system to get back its original performance?

After reinstall of OS X 10.7.4, I restored an older copy from Time Machine backup. I want to completely replace the current "Macintosh HD" folder with the folder that TM put inside it. I created a separate user account, that did not exist before to do it. Do I need to create a root account? Is there an easy way to copy /Macintosh HD/Macintosh HD/ to /Macintosh HD/?

So i want to change my folder icons back to their original state, I found a set online with the default leopard icons in PNG format and I tried copying and pasting in the get info screen like you normally would but all i get is that white little preview sheet as the image (see attached screenshot)
I then found out all the original icons are saves in the resources folder so i tried those both in ICNS format and converted one to PNG but still no dice.
Lately I've been messing around with changing a lot of the standard Mac OS X icons like the "Macintosh HD", "iPod", and "Downloads" icons. If, for some reason, I decide to revert back to the original icons.

I have a bunch of mp3 files that I would like to rename the original file name. Itunes only allows me to change metadata, but to fix broken names and keep organized, I need to change the file name. Once I rename the file, it shows the new name, and then upon playing it, it reverts back to the original name. I do not have any locked permissions. I have parallels and tried to rename them on the windows 7 side but same effect. I tried to shut all programs off so the file was not in use. I even tried to export it as a acc file type. I am exhausted looking for a solution, this is why I am using this forum as a last ditch effort.
