So i want to change my folder icons back to their original state, I found a set online with the default leopard icons in PNG format and I tried copying and pasting in the get info screen like you normally would but all i get is that white little preview sheet as the image (see attached screenshot)
I then found out all the original icons are saves in the resources folder so i tried those both in ICNS format and converted one to PNG but still no dice.
Lately I've been messing around with changing a lot of the standard Mac OS X icons like the "Macintosh HD", "iPod", and "Downloads" icons. If, for some reason, I decide to revert back to the original icons.

This is the problem I just bought a brand new 2009 iMac with 4 Gigs of RAM. I installed the iStat Pro app that shows whats running and how much things are going on. I noticed that the RAM indicator went from 4 GIGS of RAM to 940MB of RAM. I'm freaking out b/c this a brand new computer. Is there a solution to bring the RAM back to normal?

View 24 Replies View RelatedApps that have been closed with the X checkbox. Are they gone forever? I thought they were just hidden and could be brought back. I can't seem to find a way to do that. The problem started because the App Store says I have an app installed when it's not in my Applications folder. Where is it looking to see if an app is installed? There are no receipts I could find.
is there any sensible way to order App Store purchases aside from purchase date, which seems the least useful.
had to backup my mail in a folder, and deleted existing in order to re-insert my different email addresses to fix a problem - long story, now at a loss as how to bring old email info back into my program.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Yosemite very recently. Am noticing that ALL my browsers are NOT displaying page titles at the very top of the browser window. I've checked settings in each of the browsers I use (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) and have not found a setting to bring page titles back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo far, this isn't going well for me. I have, at random points, had the screen completely shut off (go black) and no ability to bring it back on. I have also seen heat problems, and I'm really not doing anything except for outlook. Has anyone had the screen fail on them like this? It doesn't happen on the Mac side -- just when running Win7 in bootcamp with the latest drivers. Somewhat frustrating -- it just happened when I tried to open a PNG using windows picture viewer: bam, screen to black. I am guessing graphics driver failure.

i am a tad stumped by this issue i'm having right now with my new imac. i noticed one day that none of my desktop aliases show any longer. in fact if i go to the desktop folder through finder my files and such show in there however none of my aliases nor those files show on the actual desktop. another thing i've noticed is that whenever i now try to drag and drop anything to the desktop whether it be a URL from safari or an alias i made in finder the dragged item simply just drags itself back to where i pulled it from.

I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro, however i was never issued with any recovery DVD's. In the event of a full re-instillation how would i be able to restore my system back to original state? When i spoke to the assistant in the apple shop, he told me that they were not required, is this correct? Can i purchase the recovery DVD's from Apple?

Recently I got a new MacBook Pro. I updated it to the latest version of lion. Whenever I wanted to change my desktop background, it would change immediately no problem but once I shut down or restarted my mac, it would revert back to the original background. Somewhere I read that by deleting com.apple.desktop.plist this problem could be solved. I did that and bingo it solved the problem! But since I am a newbie i would like to know is it fine to do so and what (if any) effects it could have on my mac?

Can someone please make a copy of it and upload it for me. To access it just right click iTunes and click ' Show Package Contents' then 'Contents' and then 'Resources'.

If the original restore discs are lost, what methods are there to restore a Mac back to it's original state (with HDD's wiped). Is it possible to get a set of restore discs from somewhere? Do restore discs from other Macs of the same model work fine? Or will SL need to be bought, upgraded and then wiped after that (I'm hearing SL is actually a full version, so by upgrading and then booting into it again, you can do an erase and install)
Is there a mac equivalent to the PC procedure of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the original operating system to get back its original performance?

I have a bunch of mp3 files that I would like to rename the original file name. Itunes only allows me to change metadata, but to fix broken names and keep organized, I need to change the file name. Once I rename the file, it shows the new name, and then upon playing it, it reverts back to the original name. I do not have any locked permissions. I have parallels and tried to rename them on the windows 7 side but same effect. I tried to shut all programs off so the file was not in use. I even tried to export it as a acc file type. I am exhausted looking for a solution, this is why I am using this forum as a last ditch effort.
