View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Mail Client on Mac OS 10.7.4 V5.2 1278 fails on send messages. The compsoe window reappears immediately after Send is selected. The mail message ends up in the outbox. This worked prior to may 1st. Some update has broken it.

I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.
This must be using resources, is there any way to stop this?
I inadvertently pressed a key or command while using Mail and now all of the inbox, send and draft communications are viewable. I have tried returning Mail to default settings, but nothing has worked. I have tried Help and View options and Preferences, but nothing works. Does anyone know of a simple step for returning setings to display only most recent communications with the entire text displayed separately beneath?

I do have a copy of the the Mac Mini SL Client software but I don't have another Mac to create the USB restore disc in order to load the client on the Mini Server via usb drive. I don't intend to use the Server Software and don't want to 'activate' the license so I can resell it instead. Can I just use the Server to create the bootable restore disc without 'activating' the Server License and locking it to my serial number? Or is there another way to create the restore disc if you don't have access to another Mac to run disc utility?
I'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?
View 24 Replies View RelatedThe Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

I am running mac os X version 10.5.8 and I find that mail will download not all my mail and will not send from any of my mailboxes.
I have set up mail with my googlemail account my mobileme account and my yahoo accounts. all are set up as stp and I have set them up according to all the online help lines. I have had mail set up for many months now, and have been trying to fix this problem for a long time now off and on.
One thing that I have tried is changing the outgoing port number from the default to 587, but still no joy.
While I was creating a multiple .rar file I accidentally shut down the power, after restarting the imac it won't respond and the only thing I can do is move the mouse cursor, but nothing reacts.

If I want to forward multiple messages from one email account to another in Apple Mail (an old account to a new one), how can I select multiple messages at once, yet send them separately? (As opposed to the default where it forwards it all as one giant message.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Mini. The Mini is running on an old Sony 19" LCD. I would like a 24" to take advantage of widescreen movies and TV programs. I don't game or need exact color replication. Suggestions for decent 24" monitors that won't exceed the $350 range?
View 23 Replies View RelatedMy goal is to by a mac mini that will run 24/7 it will be connected to about 5TB's of storage that will have all my personal data on it. My goal is to create an FTP server that will host all these files that I can access remotely and let friends and family access it. I pretty much have it all sorted out I just wanted to check with some people on here. To run it I will be using a program called PureFTPd to manage the server and I can create accounts and manage them all through this application. Does anyone have a better way for me to do this or an alternate application that is better, And also I have connected to my mac book pro remotely using the built in FTP feature and PureFTP so yer, Does anyone else have a better idea for me running a server?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use an IMAP email account (provided by AOL) and every time I send an email it then comes in to my AOL sent items folder and displays an unread count on mail.app. It's infuriating.
I think imap stores the sent mail on it's server and I think I'm subscribed to all these folders so when it receives my sent mail, it sends a copy back to me.
I have tried creating a rule that mark all messages from me as read, but to no avail, it still does it anyway.
In an effort to make Mail more gmail-like, I selected the "View>Organize by thread" option. However, this only seems to group messages in my inbox and doesn't include my sent messages within the same conversation.
Is this how threaded messages are supposed to work? Just one side of a conversation? Or is there a setting to get my sent messages to show up in the threaded conversation?
I am using Mac Mail to check my gmail acct via IMAP. I am using the settings specified by google. I have selected the appropriate folders and mapped them using the "Use this folder for..." menu item. My sent messages are both in the Sent folder (for a while, then they disappear) and below in my Gmail>Sent Mail folder (always current). I have the option selected to store them on the server.
I have Mac Mini 1.66 Intel 2006 OS X 10.4.11 with CD-R and DVD Player that won't boot properly into single user mode using a IBM PC keyboard. I have tried the alt-s, windows key-s and control-s key combinations. from the mac keyboard hints sheet located on this web site.
I have also tried to boot with key combinations from the mac mini manual with no success. I have also tried to simply insert the install CD/DVD for MAC OS X 10.4 that came with the computer and start the computer with various key combinations and the cd/dvd drive will not boot.
What do I need to do to be able to accomplish these tasks with the PC/ Windows keyboard.
this is kind of an annoyance and I can't seem to find any answers online. My left column on Mail usually has 3 folders (inbox, sent, trash). That's how I like it. Every once in a while though, it creates a new folder under my email address. Why does this happen, and can I stop it? In case it helps, I only have 1 email address and it's a .me account. Also, I do send emails from my Mac, iPhone and occasionally [URL] from a work PC. I don't know if that's relevant, I just wanted to get as many facts out there as I can.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I turn this feature off? If I have a message in the middle of being composed, and click Get Mail, off the draft message goes whether I'm ready to send this or not. This is an old issue, and generally I just try to remember not to check mail when I have a message in progress. But I can't find a screen anywhere in Mail Prefs to turn this feature off. In other words, I only want mail to send messages when I the Send paper airplane icon, not in response to my checking incoming messages. I'm running OS 10.5.8 and Mail v. 3.6 (936).

it is possible to create a rule that will override another rule?
Basically, I have a rule set up so that the background goes green if the email was sent to a certain email address.
I'd like to create another rule (or edit the existing rule) so that the background will change to a different colour if the email was sent from a specific person (email address).

I've used Apple Mail for years but struggled so long with the folder structure. I would love for my multiple "Mailboxes" (folders) to go under the Inbox like such: The reason being when I create new mailboxes they go to a completely separate heading under that e-mail address. So when my searches in Apple Mail are not comprehensive, as it'll often search the Inbox without searching the other Mailboxes. This is such a simple feature yet my web searches have proved fruitless. I've also contacted my ISP Host Gator but recommend that I ask Apple or search the internet.
what is the term in mac mail or in address book for creating a list of four or five or ten people in order to address a mail to all at once so i don't have to find all their names every time i send something? i can't remember where this is or what it is called.

After creating a new email and send successfully, breakdown of the full content in the mail will appear in the trash box without my intention. The breakdown were in separate uncompleted mail/mails depending on the length of the email. Everytime after a simple email of about 3-5 sentences comprising of less then 30 words, 5 - 10 separate trash box mail appeared. it worst when duration is longer while creating the email.
