Applications :: Creating One PDF File Of Multiple Documents?

Mar 18, 2004

I'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?

OS X Mavericks :: Power Shut Down / File Is Not Updated

Sep 12, 2014

Saved my .AI file I was working on, the power shut down in the office and when I restarted my computer, the file was 2 previous saves before. I lost important info. Is there a way to find a hidden file from somewhere in outer space to access the most saved version of the file. I DO save my files often to avoid some basic issues, but this one seems like a software glitch.

Intel Mac :: Accidentally Drug A File From Office's Shared Server To Trash Icon

Mar 22, 2012

My office does have a time machine backup system, but I'm pretty sure it only backs up our individual hard drives. This file was only saved to the office Shared server. The weirdest part is that all there is in the trash is a bunch of .ipa files from my last iPhone update. But I didn't delete those.so why are THEY in the trash to begin with, but not the files that were actually deleted?I've been having tons of issues with other stuff since we upgraded to Lion.I've absolutely got to get that file back..

IMac Intel :: System Instantly Shut Down / Not Delivering Power To USB Devices

Oct 31, 2007

Just recently (this night,) whenever I would unplug my main USB hub, my iMac (Late 2006) would turn off (that is, instantly shut down as if the power had been disconnected). I don't know why this happened, but it turned on immediately afterward so I shrugged it off. The last time this happened, (the 4th time,) the iMac wouldn't turn back on at all.

It responds to power button presses, and you can hear the harddrive spinning up and the CD drive whirring and fans spinning. The sleep light in front stays on, but the display stays black, and it doesn't make the characteristic chime when it "turns on". In addition, it doesn't seem to be delivering power to USB devices, so there's no way that I can boot up from a startup disc or anything to see what's going on.

What do you guys think could be wrong with my computer? I doubt my non-existant applecare would cover anything of this sort, and I'm pretty sure that i'm SOL for hopes of a computer that just works. In addition, one other question. I was working on a VERY important school assignment at the time, (cliche, I know,) so is there any way I can connect another computer to my iMac so I can get my school assignment off of it?

IMac Intel :: Unable To Turn On System / Shut Itself Down And Refused To Power Back Up

Jun 19, 2008

I have a 20" intel-based dual core Mac which i have had for about since early 2006, i haven't had any big issues with it until a few days ago when it suddenly shut itself down and refused to power back up. I ran through the checklist that Apple Support provides, including resetting the SMC by unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds or so but none of it worked. Eventually I just left the power cord unplugged overnight and in the morning I plugged it back in.

After having the power cord plugged in for a few hours and the machine turned off, i tried pressing the power button again and to my amazement it powered back on! Immediately i ran the TechTool Deluxe software that came with my extended protection plan (now expired) and everything was fine. Later that night however, I had left my computer on for a few hours before returning to it and realizing it had shut itself off again. Now I am back to where I started, going through the checklist provided by Apple and am really starting to get concerned. Does anyone know of anything else I can do, short of taking it in to an Apple store? Or is something needed to be replaced?

PowerPC :: Making Power Button Shut Power Mac Off?

Oct 7, 2006

I'm using a B&W Power Mac G3 with 512MB RAM and OS X Tiger for a SMB file server (with 5 users) and a USB printer server. Everything is working good, but I have a problem.

It doesn't have a monitor or keyboard/mouse attached normally (I can configure it via VNC). The problem is that I would like to be able to turn the machine off when it's not needed (like at night sometimes, days when I won't be home, etc.). I would like to just hit the power button and have it turn off, however it puts it to sleep instead.

Normally, sleep would be fine, except on the B&W, the fans still run, just the HDs shut off, so it's still noisy as heck.

Is there a way to make the power button shut it off? If not, any other easy methods of shutting it off you can think of? Via VNC won't cut it, as my dad needs to be able to turn it on (not a problem) or off as well.

I need to combine word docs, .jpgs, .PDFs, .pptx files from multiple sources into a single PDF.  In the past I've used software such as Nuance but I'm wondering if there's something in the MacBook Pro OS or applications that support this function.

The problem is that no matter which user id/password combo I put in, it is not recognized; not even either of the admin users.

ITunes :: 10 Keeps Creating Temp File.tmp Files?

May 15, 2012

I am using iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on Lion 10.7.4 and I have (yet again) noticed that iTunes has started creating multiple copies of Temp File.tmp in the iTunes folder. It creates a copy every single time I do anything inside iTunes, including skipping a track or checking the iTune store.  I thought that maybe my ClamXav Sentry scanner was causing issues so I removed the iTune directory from the scan and even shut it down alltogether.  I have not shared my iTunes library either so I can se no reason that anything else is holding onto this file and causing iTunes to create a copy of the iTunes Music Library.xml file. Its simple starts at some random time and they stops just as randomly.  However this time is particularly bad as EVERYTHING I do inside iTunes caused the problem.

Power Mac G5 :: Shut Down Automatically On Blue Screen

Dec 21, 2007

My G5 has developed a problem with restarting. Basically if I restart it gets to the grey screen with the apple logo and the spinning thing but shuts down as soon as it gets to the blue screen. This will happen for as many times as I care to restart it. The only solution I have come across is to take out the SDRAM modules and swap them round (any combination will do as long as they are swapped) and bingo, it starts again as if nothing was wrong.

Initially I had four 512k modules from Crucial and recently replaced them with two 1024 modules from another manufacturer to see if that would solve it but it didn't. Zapping the PRAM also didn't work. I should say also that around the same time it developed a habit of shutting down mid-use, but this was solved by switching the processor usage from high to automatic.

I have pulled the battery to reset the SMC or whatever it is called. I ran disk utilities and repaired the permissions.
