I have a Samsung external DVD writer model SE-S084 that I am really struggling to find the drivers for in order to use it with my macs mini. I know it is compataible but the Samsung website is next to useless in trying to find the right download

Anyone know of a way to satisfy the SecuROM DRM when your Mac doesn't have an optical drive? I've tried using Remote Disc, but SecuROM's too dumb to work with it. This is in regards to GTA: San Andreas installed from the GTA: Trilogy DVD. First person to tell me to fork out for an external optical drive gets an abusive reply (actually, anyone who suggests this will get an abusive reply).

this is an old machine, can i replace optical drive with sata hard disk 2.5'' with any size like 500GB, Internally not externally.
Here's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.

I had lots of other problems with kernel issues and was in and out of the Genius Store like a hen on an egg, but now I am trying to use the DVD drive and it doesn't work. It doesn't recognize any applications to open it, not Toast, not Disk Utility, and it has a hard time recognizing music CDs also.Not only does it not recognize it on the desktop, it simply spits the disk out. I purchased new DVD-RW and tried to write an .iso image to the DVD, and it won't work. Sad fact is that this is now past the warranty and I am stuck with this. The Mac Mini 2010 version was expensive, and the only reason I bought it was because of the drive because I didn't have one.

I just got an external LaCie DVD burner (long story). It works great, but as of right now I can apparently only eject it by right-click > eject or drag it to the "trash." Is there any way to allow me to just use the button on the drive or tie it to the eject button on the keyboard when it's connected, or even another key command like Opt-Eject?

We have a imac 20" bought 9 months ago, Im in school and bought adobe suite and a printer, installed the printer with the internal optical drive, I go to install the adobe suite and the optic drive accepts the dvd and then just kicks it out! so it is toast, the apple guys gave me a repair depot to take the Imac to.

Two internal drives (120 GB SSD for OS and Programs, 750 GB HDD for Data) & external USB Optical DVD/RW The issue I'm having is when I insert a real DVD into the external optical drive (which is the orignal from the macbook pro not store bought) it doesn't read the DVD. I have installed Quicktime, VLC player and everytime the external just gives me the VIDEO AND AUDIO TS folders. what I need to do so I can play DVD's from my external?

When i put the disc in i click on it to open it and the option install mac os x and bundled software. So i click it and a screen pops up saying click on the button below to restart and start your installation. The problem is when the mac restarts the installation doesnt start. All that happens is the screen that gives me the option to install mac os x and bundled software pops up. So what do i do, i click it and once again im on the screen that says click on the button below to restart and start your installation.

I tried it at first by connecting to an open usb on my cinema display..no good. Also no good when connected directly into the mini.

If I get 5.1 speakers and use the optical-out port on the Mac, are there drivers for Windows that will support the optical out and let me do 5.1 as well? I'm curious as I intend to do some gaming on the box, and this greatly influences the speakers I would buy (2.1 vs 5.1)
Just bought a Samsung 2333SW Monitor and plugged it into my Mac Mini. The screen looks like the monitor was dropped (psychedelic) when the desktop is displayed. It worked fine on my 17" Samsung monitor, but not the 23".
I exchanged the monitor, and its not the monitor. I was told its the driver on the Mac. I cannot find any driver online for my Mini through Apple, or even at the Samsung sites.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a MDD that always needs the surge protector shut off then back on to start it.I had installed a Western Digital 750GB drive in it.It has Tiger on it with all of my docs and pictures etc.Have been scared of using the MDD and bought an Early 2009 Mini to replace it.The mini only has a 120GB drive (and 4GB RAM) and I don't want it to get filled up.It had Leopard and I upgraded it to Snow Leopard.Some of my Tiger software can't be upgraded to SL, so I'd need to use the MDD drive to access it.Can the HD be used as an external drive and booted from the Mini with Firewire in order to use Tiger? Currently, I'm using a USB drive with the Mini to save docs and pics on, but it's getting to be a pain because some stuff isn't on it and have to change USB drives.
As others have said, the Mini blows the doors off the MDD!I maxed out the MDD to 2GB of RAM and thought it was fast. The Mini's runs circles around it!
Hi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?

i am trying to connect my Mac Mini to my 860 Samsung Series 8 HDTV. I am using a DVI to HDMI connector into the DVI port on the back of the Mac Mini. I have plugged the HDMI cable into the back to the Samsung in the HDMI/DVI port. My MacGeek score went from 341 on my 2001 466 mhz G4 Digital Audio model to 3044 on the new 2010 2.26 base Mac-MiniStartup is unreal fast... Applications move so much faster as it should be! *Hard to believe that this little box is 10 times the CPU speed and 6 times the hard drive @ 25% of the price in 2000.
