Have got an Ipod touch, so when i plug it in it opens up itunes as you would expect but it doesn't show up in finder. I have ticked the box in preferences to allow it to and it still wont show up.

I accidentally removed my HD from under the Devices folder in Finder when I was trying to drag and drop songs into iTunes. I assume there must be an easy way to get it to show up there again, I just am not sure what that is. It got dragged into whatever folder I was in in Finder and just kinda poof it was gone...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used Seagate FreeAgent Pro 500 Gb. It has been divided into 2 partitions. one is used for time machine, another is used for keeping my important data. I think that the Finder should show both partitions on the left, but it shows only Time machine .
I regularly run software update. As I can remember, it has ever shown two partitions. I don't know whether this is related to software updating or not. If it is 'yes', how can I solve it?
I have SL and I've just installed Dropbox. According to this page I should be able to see a contexual menu in Finder but I don't. Do you know how to enable it ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the AEBS firmware update I've been trying to access my usb-disk, connected to my Airport Extreme, through the internet using MobileMe, without success. My iMac and Powerbook show up in Finder under the 'Shared' tab but my airport-disk doesn't. Back to my Mac is giving a green light ... MobileMe registration in the Airport utility sticks and all settings seem to be OK. What's wrong?
ISP also provided a router (Philips) which is NAT and UPnP enabled ... AEBS is connected to the Philips with ethernet (Bridge Mode). Disk is HFS+ formatted ...

So, basically, ever since Lion, my external harddrive has had trouble being found while using the USB slot in the Airport Extreme. Anyway, so the HDD can be seen in the Airport Utility under Disks but I actually cannot access it through Finder. I have ticked the boxes to show External Harddrives in Finder and all that, so I am pretty connfused. All I use it for is watching movies off and TV shwos so I can save space on my MacBook Pro. So yeah, no Time Machine stuff which I usally see about this topic Â

why does my digial camera not show up in Finder? (camera is Nikon D7000)Â
there are situtions when you don't want to download photos, sometimes I'm just doing tests, and want to see photos in the camera instead of downloading them first.. ( at any rate this should be my choice to make, not Apple's....;-)
and: I want to see the camera in the FINDER (not iPhoto or any other program where you have to "import" the photos.. I don't like those programs and never use them..)Â
it doesn't even show up in Adobe Bridge, for pete's sake.. this is ABSURD..
but on the pc you see it right away in Windows Explorer... no reason whatsoever why the mac shouldn't do this also...
My external hard drive doesn't show up in finder.Time machine can't find it. Does this mean my external hard drive is dead?
I borrowed a friends and switched mine with hers. My acted the same way in her macbook. I switched the cords on the external drives, no change.
Also, Is there a way to retrieve the information from my sick external hard drive?

I transferred about 400 gigs of data from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac using Migration Assistant, but can't find any of my data on Finder. I'm thinking that the data got transferred but not cataloged. Finder shows about 400 gigs of my hard drive being used, but the files it shows don't come anywhere close to 400 gigs. How can I find out what is really on the hard drive and how can I access my MacBook files I transferred?

I previously used Windows with my Ipod - they were synced. I have since purchased a Macbook Pro. My previous Itunes playlist (windows) is on the Ipod, but no longer on my current Itunes (macbook). I want to play music from my Ipod on my Mac and possible transfer music from the Ipod to the Mac. I have ticked 'manually manage', when I plug in the Ipod, however, it does not show any music Ipod content on Itunes.

i just got an iMac a few weeks ago and i used migration assistant to move everything from my macbook pro. but ever since then when i hook up my ipad and ipod they dont show up in itunes, they're charging though. im going to reinstall itunes now. any advice on how to make it work if this reinstallation doesnt work ?

I listen to something on my ipod. I plug the ipod into my computer. In itunes, on the ipod, I can see the track I listed to has number of plays 1. That track in the library on the computer fails to get any plays next to it. Why? Why does this stuff never really work properly? I'm sure it used to work, but I could be wrong. It's not working now. Plays on/from the ipod don't get registered on the computer. This means I don't know which tracks I've listed to and which I haven't.
intel iMac , 10.5.8 , suddenly USB ports stop seeing any devices ( flash memory stick , iPod etc ) connected to it , neither on keyboard nor on computer back panel . Finder or Disk Utility not showing this devices , but the devices could be seen using SytemProfiler . The same devices connected to another Mac computer are working fine .

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this weird and annoying problem with "show in finder".I used at one point that "defaults write -g NSFileViewer string different.plist.than.finder" to try to change the default finder, it didnt work, so I just "defaults delete -g NSFileViewer". So this is out of the way, I have no NSFileViewer in any file whatsoever.Now, for the weird stuff. If I use "show in finder" from the dock, nothing happens(neither cmd-click, of course). If I use it in safari's download list, it OPENS the file. If I use it in iTunes, on media or apps, it WORKS properly, it shows the item in the finder. If I use it in Xcode on a file in my project, it just switches to that file(so, basically, it just opens it just like Safari).
I tried deleting the dock and finder plist files in Preferences, didnt work. If I login with a different account it works properly. I really dont want to delete the whole preferences folder. I REALLY dont xD.I'm really stuck here, since all apps try and open the file(except Dock that does nothing) but iTunes works properly.if I use "Reveal in finder" in Spotify, it also opens the file(it starts to play in iTunes).if I use "Reveal in finder" in Forklift it just opens it as well.

I have been using WD 1TB external USB hard disk for 4 months with my Macbook with Tiger 10.4 on it. I have plugged in the disk after I purchased without any special formatting or anything, and it worked fine so far. It just took a while, about few minutes, for the Macbook to show it on the desktop every time I got it disconnected and connected again. However, this time, I can not see the disk on the desktop nor on the Finder no matter what. I have plugged it in and out several times, I have restarted the machine etc. Nothing works. The disk is quite empty and it works fine with the PC..no cable problem or and disk failure issue for sure. I can see the disk on the Disk Utility app, but I can neither verify nor mount it...

When I try putting it in my MacBook Pro that has 10.5 (this is from my university), it will not show up in the finder. Then, it will spit the disc back out. I tried it in a few other MBPs with 10.5, and the same thing happens.

i own a mid 2010 i5 MacbookPro was purchased with applecare. When i checked warranty status a month ago it said apple extended coverage until august 6th 2013. But when I open a .gif file with, for example 36 frames, it won't play the animation. I can select every frame but it won't play the whole animation. I already checked the Help menu, but it didn't work. I can drag the file to Safari, but that's not the way I want to view .gif files.

I was at the genius bar today and was told to do a recovery of lion. To hold down option key while starting and then pick the recovery drive and follow instructions after a few hours it went back to the start of asking for my apple id info again the computer didnt ever show the progress bar moving i exited and atempted to start and just sat at the white apple screen and never moved i then have started the process again... How long should this take before seeing any progess on the progress bar? When computer does restart will it come up he usual log in screen or not?
