Laptops :: Lost Maximum Resolution Display (22 Inch Monitor)

Dec 7, 2009

Just bought a new MacBook (OSX 10.6.1 w/4GB RAM) and ViewSonic 22" monitor. When I hooked it up (via DVI) and loaded the VewSonic drivers, I got the max resolution of 1920 x 1080. Earlier today, I came back and woke up my MacBook - and got only a snowy screen on the monitor and couldn't get anything on the laptop. Restarted and now, even though the display shows 1920 x 1080, it is not providing that resolution. The max for the laptop shows 1280 x 800 and that is about what is showing on the monitor as well. I keep resetting the resolution on the monitor at 1920 x 1080 - but the screen size doesn't change.

Windows On Mac :: Setting Maximum Resolution Of External Monitor With Vista

Jul 7, 2007

I just got my MaBook Pro (2.2 GHz and nVidia graphic card). I installed Boot Camp 1.3 and Vista. I have a Benq Monitor 24" with the native resolution of 1920x1080. The MBP is attached to the monitor via DVI.

The problem is that the max resolution Vista allows me to set up for the external monitor is: 1024 X 768. I have tried the original Vista driver from nVidia, but it wont recognize my hardware. Needless to say, that under Mac OS X everything works just fine.

MacBook Pro :: What Is Maximum Resolution For External Display

I'm in the market for a new external display. I believe I have 3 options with the Thunderbolt(not mini-display)port on my Mac.Using my mini-displayport to VGA adapterUsing my mini-displayport to HDMI adapterUsing just a thunderbolt cable.I believe that there are Thunderbolt displays on the market (AOC has a 21:9 one I believe).

What is the maximum resolution for an external display for my MacBook Pro? Does my mac support 4K? Does it support 21:9? Specifications of my MacBook:

MacBook Air :: 24 Inch LED Cinema Display - Can't Change Resolution

Nov 2, 2010

I just got the latest 13" Macbook Air and hooked it up to my Apple 24 inch LED Cinema Display. It works great but I've noticed that the resolution is not the same as when I had my 2008 Unibody Macbook attached to it. Everything is bigger (i.e. lower resolution) when the MBA is connected. I went into Display Preferences and changed it to the highest resolution but it didn't change. It's not that big a deal, but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had any suggestions on how to get better resolution on the cinema display. Or is it not possible with the new MBA connected?

MacBook Pro :: Default Resolution On External Monitor - Proper Display

Feb 3, 2010

I have my MacBook hooked up to an external monitor of 1920 x 1080 resolution. I don't use the MacBook screen at all. Every time I turn on my MacBook it displays on the external monitor as it should, but at the MacBook's 1280 x 800 resolution, which obviously looks nasty and stretched on the big monitor. I fix this by simply putting the Mac to sleep and pressing a key on my keyboard to wake it up again; and it loads in the proper resolution. Is there a way to make it display 1920 x 1080 on boot up without having to sleep and wake every single time? Keeping my MacBook in sleep mode when not in use isn't an option.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Get Maximum Resolution On AOC I2353

May 2, 2012

I just got a new AOC i2353 monitor hoping to pair it with my 13' macbook pro(2010 model) via display port to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable directly to the monitor. Howerver, i can't get it to display at maximum resolution it offer(max is 1080i).I can't run any of the drivers and installation softwares came with the it and my macbook pro won't detect the monitor. When i set it to 1080i mode, I see horizontal and vertical disturbances or waving. Also, picture become blurred. However, if i switch it to 1080p, picture become much shaper and no waving. Is there anyway to hard set the native resolution of the display since my macbook pro( Max OS x 10.6.8, 2.4 GHZ core 2 duo and Nvidia GeForce 320M) won't auto dectect my new montior.

Desktops :: Maximum Operating Temperature Inside The New 27-inch IMac?

Feb 3, 2010

Does anyone know the maximum operating temperature inside the new 27-inch iMac? I've read that they shouldn't be operated beyond 35 degrees Celsius [95 degrees F]. But that's the ambient temperature, not the computer's internal temperature.

I ask this because I have been running iStat for years. It monitors various things, including internal temperature. I always keep an eye on this during warm days, even when I have the air-conditioning on. So it would be good to know the maximum temperature.

Windows On Mac :: Multiple Monitors & Maximum Screen Resolution For A System

Oct 2, 2010

It's a Dell 29" monitor (I don't have the product name). I connected the two monitors using a mini-displayport-to-DVI connector. I would have chosen for HDMI, but the Dell monitor lacked that unfortunately. I've installed Windows 7 on a BootCamp partition, and I happened to be in Windows when I did this. When I turned it on, it was a duplicate display of my iMac screen. Same resolution. I went to control panel and screen resolution, and chose for 'extend these displays', but suddenly the resolution on the Dell went from 2560 x 1440 (like the iMac) to a max of 1280 x 800

Power Mac G5 :: Reset Monitor Resolution Supported By Monitor?

Nov 22, 2007

I have a G5 Quad with an Ati x1900 graphics card running into a 52" Samsung LCD. This was working fine through a dvi-vga adaptor until I switched the monitor resolution from 1920X1080 to 1360X768 which is not supported by the monitor .....blank screen. I plugged another 19" monitor into the other output on the card and both work fine but as soon as I remove the 19" the 52" reverts back to the unsupported mode. I have reset the pram and tried booting in safe mode but that did not help me. From bootup the 52" works fine until just before the login screen, then it switches resolution......blank screen. Would anyone know where these settings would be housed in OS 10.5.1 so I can modify (delete) them?

Laptops :: 13-inch: 2.53GHz Vs 15-inch: 2.53GHz MBP?

Jun 11, 2009

Apple has some pretty weird pricing with these two MBP. I looked through the specs of both MBPs, I didn't find much different, besides some audio in/out port, a/c adapter wattage. Only main difference that I found obviously is the screen size. 13" vs 15.4". Usually, in PC scenario, all things remain the same, if the screen size is small, the price usually is more (a lot). But here in these two MBPs the 15.4" is $200 more than a 13". I find it, sorta weird. Is it just me finding it?

Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.

Laptops :: MacBook Pro And Samsung Monitor - Quit QuickTime

Dec 28, 2010

I've been using my 15" MacBook Pro (purchased late 2009) running 10.6.5 with a very old 23" Apple Cinema Display for a year now with no problems. I use both the laptop screen and the external monitor at the same time. Recently I tried switching to a Samsung SyncMaster 245BW since the Cinema Display is starting to show its age in terms of picture quality. Everything works fine until I launch QuickTime or any application that uses QuickTime (iTunes for example). This causes the Samsung monitor to jump back and forth very quickly from a screen full of snow to a normal screen over and over and over, rendering the external monitor useless. The only way to get it to stop is to quit QuickTime, unplug the external monitor, and plug it back in.

The same thing happens when I try switching external monitor resolutions from 1920x1200 to anything else. The only refresh rate available is 60hz. All others are grayed out. My MacBook Pro apparently has just one graphics card since the energy saver preferences don't include the option to switch between better graphics and power saving.

Mac Pro :: Can't Get Native Resolution On Second Monitor In OS X

Oct 13, 2010

Here are my hardware specs:

Mac Pro 1,1

NVidia 7300GT (I need a new video card, anyone want to sell me one? [=)

2 x Samsung Synmaster 2494SW (native resolution 1920x1080)

Update:

I booted into windows 7 and I am now able to get both native resolutions.

Though, I am still unable to get both native resolutions (using DVI to DVIs) inside OS X for some reason. In OS X my second monitor is displayed as "VGA Display" and it completely black.

I am not sure why it works in bootcamp using Windows 7, but not in Snow Leopard. I am guessing this is a problem with the OS X configuration.

OS X :: Which Resolution Monitor To Buy For MacBook?

Apr 19, 2010

I'm looking for an external monitor to plug my macbook into. Mainly working on Aperture, Microsoft office, and web surfing. Not watching movies or gaming on it. With my budget, the only IPS monitor I can afford is the 22" Dell ultrasharp. It comes with 1680x1050 resolution (or close to that). Also, its non-glossy, and I prefer glossy. Alternatively I can get a plain vanilla 24" TN monitor with 1920x1200.

I do need the extra screen estate, which is why I decided to buy a monitor in the first place. I frequently have to refer to multiple documents at the same time while working on Microsoft office, and Aperture would certainly benefit from more space. All these resolutions are new to me, my current desktop PC is still running on 1200x1024. Is there a significant difference moving from 1680 to 1920? Is it justified to lose the IPS feature (which gives better color and viewing angles, I've been told).
