Mar 13, 2012I have a MacBook Pro 5,2 with OS X 10.6.8. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I want to hook it up to the Mac to use as a USB tethered network device so I can use it on the train and wherever wifi fails to work. I can get the phone set up right, but the Mac doesn't see it as a network device. There is a Windows network driver for the phone but not a Mac driver that I can find. I CAN use portable WIFI hotspot, but with 2 radios running my battery life is terrible and I get some serious network lag.

Jun 30, 2010as an extension to my question regarding RAM utilization, I've decided to upgrade my RAM. I went through the process of removing the underside of my MBP. After taking the screws out and mentally marking which slot they came out of (some are of different size), I pulled the lid up at the black trim area (the "neck" of the display mount) as this was the easiest way to get a non-damaging grip on the metal underside -- read: I avoided using a screw driver on the lid. As I started to lift, I was surprised at the amount of force I needed to use in order to remove the lid; something near the center of the cover was still holding the lid to the underside of the body. In fact, the amount of force I needed to use made me pause to question if I missed an important step other than simply removing the screws. I decided to "go for it" and applied more pressure while pulling the lid up and away from the body and heard a "pop" noise.

Mar 18, 2009I have a white MacBook 2.2 running 10.5.6. I use Google Maps all the time and in the last two days it has stopped working. The initial page loads but then when I search for something at the top it says "Loading" then changes to "Still loading... Slow? Try Basic HTML." I know I could use another map site but I use a webpage that calculates the fastest roundtrip for multiple locations and it uses Google Maps and this is causing that site not to work. It is happening in both Safari and Firefox. I have the newest version of each. Javascript is enabled. I have done every update possible. I have changed my DNS back and forth between the ones from my ISP and some from OpenDNS. There is another macbook on our network identical to mine that is working fine as is a MacBook Pro. I have not been able to get anything done today at work because of this.

Apr 10, 2012why Google Maps has worked only 1% of the time on this MacBook Pro ("MBP") - either before or after I have undertaken 'Empty Cache' and 'Reset Safari'?All I get is an empty Google maps screen with markers (if I had requested a search). This has been true ever since I had this MBP two years ago and IS UNACCEPTABLE Apple! So that means Google Maps has not worked properly the whole time I have had this MBP I assume this is an attempt by Apple to dissuade us from using Google services because they are a major threat to Apple.

I've also tried with Firefox but the problem is still not solved.Actually, Safari (or Firefox) keeps charging the page but is unable to get it. I always see a blank page. It only happens with these two websites. Other sites are working perfectly.I've tried so many things like installing the flash, erasing cookies or cache, installing updates but nothing helped. This is really annoying. Just to give you an example, if I try to localize my MacBook I just can't see where it is as the map is not appearing.

Feb 1, 2010Can no longer start to type an address into the Search Maps field and have Google complete it if Ive entered it before, and if Search brings me to a location and I want directions when I enter the start address if I have entered it before Google again does not complete it.
Also, if I click on the down pointing arrow located between the Search text block and the Search Maps button I no longer am presented with a list of Saved addresses.

*One curious thing (I can't imagine this has anything to do with it but....) the app store does not seem to recognize I have upgraded to OSX 10.9.4. I know I'm running this version as this is what shows when I click on "About This Mac" yet the app store won't reflect it. The download button is always ready and waiting for me to click it

I'm not sure what hapenned, I must have done something, but one day my address bar decided it wanted to play hide and seek and it won....the "show toolbar" option does nothing upon clicking it, neither does the "customize toolbar" option.

Jun 25, 2014Since I upgraded to Mavericks, my once slick and awesome appointment system has been hobbled due to the new calendar integration.... I create a new event, and try to type "conf call" into the location and I have to wait about 4 minutes whilst maps goes through its entire database of locations desperately trying to find something that matches for each and every single letter that I type. Now when I want to create a new conference call in my calendar, I type "conf call" and go get a refill on my filter coffee while I wait for it to fail and timeout looking for an address that doesn't exist.
I'm sure the feature is awesome for people that create the occasional meeting, and always have the time to wait for neat-o address magic to happen, but I'd just like to turn it off. The paperclip was a bad idea when MS did it in Office all those years ago, let's not revisit.
