View 4 RepliesI just bought a MacBook Pro because I was fed up with VISTA. I am an Architect and have tried TurboCAD etc for the Mac but find them slow and not very user friendly. Until Rhino comes out I am stuck with AutoCAD. I absolutely need to use it. So I need to know, how if possible and what would be the best application to do that. I have read the discussions about Parallels, BootCamp and the free ware Darwine? But I need to know which would work best, and not bug out my computer for AutoCAD as it will be the only windows based program I will run! Everything else I can and do on my beautiful new mac.

Is there a way to migrate from a previous backup to get the delted user account back?

I noticed the other day that when I put my bootcamp installation of Windows XP to sleep it turns off my firwire soundcard, when I put Leopard to sleep it doesn't, the firewire soundcard remains powered up. Surely Leopard should be more eco friendly than Windows XP!! Anyone know why this would be the case? Is there a way of powering down the firewire ports when Leopard sleeps?

I am trying to burn a photo story I created in iphoto to a disk. When I burned it this morning, all it did was burn the pictures onto the disk. What do I need to do to burn the story, in order, with the music into an actual show? Do I use a different program?

I am running a Intel Imac 2008 clean install SL then Lion upgrade, followed by Lion Server install.I have multiple home macs, and intnded the server as a way to monitor and restrict kids internet use.In short, it has changes/screwed up multiple programs, and complicated home sharing issues considerably. Mail on the server machine has permission problems (cannot send mail, unable to sign), Spotlight in mail is non-functioning, finder spotlight searches are inconsistent, etc.I want to revert to plain old Lion.
I have done disk utility/verify disk and verified/repaired permissions, and have 'fiddled' (i'm not an expert) in the keychain/certificates areas, but I think the best solution is a clean install of Lion. When I backup to TIme Machine, is there a way to pull a 'Lion' version of my disk image back, and just not upgrade to Server? I understand I can disable Server and turn off applications in Server, but it doesn't fix my buggy machine. My options are to back up my 250GB of music, 100GB of photos, 100GB of movies, etc on to external drives, and clean install and then reimport everything, but even that will probably mean I cant reinstall my single user licesnse of MS office, VMware fusion, etc that I didn't buy on the App store.

I'm having some difficulty adding a dissolve transition to a title that is connected to a clip in the primary storyline. I've tried leaving it as a connected clip, I've tried putting it in a secondary storyline, I've tried using both the dissolve transition and ramping the opacity, but no matter what I do or how long I make the dissolve, it only seems to last about 5 frames.I'm coming to FCPX as a veteran of FCP studio, and this was something I did quite regularly and quite easily. I'm using the most recent version of FCPX.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I sync one audio file with one video file the video file is always placed in the primary storyline and the audio file is always placed under it. And the new syncronised clip is named afte the video file.Â
when I sync multiple audio files to one video file. It seems to be random what file endsup in the primary storyline of the new compound clip, most of the time is seems to be one of the audio files. This is troublesom as the syncing acuracy is then limited to the frame as the smallest incrament of adgustment. Also, it menas I have to manualy change the names of my now syncronised clips as the names are not consistant making sorting dificult. (This all results in a lot of time spent fixing this behavoir and realy dampens the advantages of the sync feature.)Â
the video should not be the primary track in a new syncrosnised compound clip and I can't find any link between my behavoir and the resulting choise of which tile is the primary sortyline track.

I have been getting these messages below in the list of feedback that Disk Utility generates during a "Repair Disk Permissions" run for at least 3 years now (through several OS updates). I am currently running 10.6.8 for the past several months. Is there an easy/SAFE way to repait this USER issue? I don't know if it is causing me any problems, but obviously it is not what it should be. [code]

This morning my iMac acted up so I used Onyx to find out what's wrong and it said it needs to repair the disk. Â
I then restarted, pressed cmd + R and tried to repair it but it said that I needed to back up files and would have to format the drive. Â Ok, good thing I just backed up my computer before the imac acted up, so I formatted the drive sing Disk Utility and then proceeded to reinstall OS X Lion.Â
Right now, it is still downloading stuff and have at least 5 hrs to go.Â
My question is, what would be the next best course of action to take:Â
Restore from latest TM backup? (will this be a good idea since the HD failed and cause the HD to fail again?)Â As much as possible, I want everything as it was before the crash. Or would it be better to start from scratch and reinstall everything? The only impt thing I want restored are my photos ( only backed up with TM).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI plugged it into my Mac, made it OS X Extended, and it worked great. It has 500GB on it. All of a sudden it became Read Only, which prevents Time Machine to perform any back-ups. The Mac forum suggested I format it, but that's only for NEW drives first connecting. I've had this for almost a year working fine. It's no longer showing up as an icon on my desktop or in Finder. Disk Utility shows it, but all the options to repair disk are greyed out.

1. re-installing the driver from the Samsung website.
2. deleting the printer from the "printer & fax" pref, then adding it again, selecting "print using..." the new driver from the drop down menu.
3. downloading the Samsung Drivers from the apple website
