Is it possible to upgrade the ram in a late 2011 macbook air?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wondering how much memory I can upgrade with my MacBook Pro Late 2011. I went on Apple.com and they only offer up to 8GB of Ram for my model when I looked around and saw that on OWC ( MacSales.com) which is a very excellent reliable source for all your Apple Products. But, I was able to find a 16GB of Ram for my MacBook Pro Late 2011 and it said it can be used for my MacBook Pro.Basically Apple says its only up to 8GB of Ram while I see other people have 16GB of Ram for the same year as mine but the only difference is the the size of the computer. Anybody could give me a answer with this question as I dont want to buy the 16GB of Ram and it not working for my computer. url...

Recently purchased a MBP and find the memory of 4 GB fairly small. Â How would it affect the MBP if I were to change the memory to 8 GB...Ie. will it run faster ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro late 2011 with Lion installed. The Performance is less than I expected if compare with my old Macbook with Snow Leopard installed. Connect to Apple's Thunderbolt Display Performance goes doen to very, very, very, very slow. For Example to load a JPG in Preview it takes more than 30 seconds until 1 min to load. Same to start iWork like Pages or Keynote.Sometimes Safari freeze, loading images or loading plugins like flash animations. Generally Lion works with low performance and I wish Snow Leopard back. But my Mybook Pro late 2011 is not compatible to install Snow Leopard on it.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got the SSD and transferred with SuperDuper from my HDD to the SSD through a SATA cable. I verified that the SSD was ok before ejecting. Now, I tried putting the SSD in and at first it booted to "No bootable device." Then I did the Command+ option+ p+r and it chimed the second time, got to the apple logo and then sat at a white screen. I also tried command alone, option alone, and command + r. What can I do? It's a Samsung 840 EVO 250 gb.

My external display (HP w2207) seems to conflict with my MacBook Pro (15 inch Retina display, early 2013) since I upgraded MacBook OS to 10.9.4.The external display works at initial boot of Mac but does not work after OS sleeps and I attempt to awaken, and while the external display is not waking, the Retina display flashes through different screen views, which only partially reflect my normal screen, or do not reflect my normal screen at all.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is an odd, intermittent problem that started about a month or two after purchasing my fall 2011 MBP 15 (i7 2.5, 16GB RAM). This problem started, went away on its own, and now it's back after about two months of being trouble free. When I close my computer, it doesn't go to sleep. The slit light on the right front of the computer does not go into its slow flash mode; however, it does light up solid, and theng it stays lit. When I open the lid, the computer wakes up immediately (it was never "sleeping" to begin with), but then after a second or two the screen fades to black. The screen can be brought back to life by pressing either of the brightness buttons on the keyboard.I took it to the Genius Bar, and of course I couldn't replicate the problem for them. When I got back home, I decided to test the computer plugged in, and that's when the problem came back.I don't know why it went away previously. So, in summary: The issue only occurs when the computer is plugged in.The sleep problem existed before I installed 3rd party RAM and Parallels 7, and they exist now after I have installed the RAM and new software.I use a wireless mouse, and the little dongle has no effect on the sleep issue - the computer will not sleep (when plugged in) either with or without the dongle in a USB port. The battery charges just fine. All of my software is up-to-date, and I'm running OS X 10.7.3I have checked for the Flashfake malware, and I do not have it.I am running Sophos Anti-virus; I have done a scan, and have found no threats. They flashed my PRAM and ran some tests at the Apple Store and everything passed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do software that aren't retina compatible yet look on the MBP Retina Display? From my own experience as a developer when using regular sized images and resolutions on the iPhone 4, they come out as blurry. I was thinking perhaps the same thing will occur if the software isn't retina compatible? I e 2x in GUI size and scaled down?
View 14 Replies View Relatedmy mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina laptop is having Retina screen problems at startup, bootup and wakeup modes. The main failure mode is, during reboot or wakeup the laptop's Retina display screen does not work, a blank Retina screen results, and the keyboard does not light up. Also, at random times the laptop will just crash and self reboot, but then during reboot the Retina screen does not work but the computer reboots. Additionally, this laptop, compared to my work's PC laptops is lightly used, mostly for web browsing, photo viewing and email. At first this problem was only intermittent, but now the Retina displace screen failure mode has become a chronic repeating failure mode and is happening almost everyday and stays in this Retina display failure mode for a longer period of time. Additionally, this 2012 Macbook Pro Retina laptop had a failed graphics card within its first 4 months of light use, the failed graphics card had to be replaced.

So, I'm very happy with my New Macbook Pro 13" Late 2014.
But I've noticed that the bottom of the Macbook Pro gets quite hot when I charge it while still using it. (Noticed it while watching streams.)
It usually sits on my lap and I'm making sure the gaps on the bottom sides are free to keep the airflow going.
When I use it normally: not watching streams, not charging. The Macbook just gets a bit warm while sitting on my lap

I bought a Macbook Pro 15inch in December 2011. It's in good condition but I want the new, thinner Macbook Pro with Retina Display. So i was wondering if there are any exchange policies? Maybe Apple could buy my 2011 Macbook Pro. I'm willing to pay a percentage. I just wanted to know if this is possible and of yes how much I couldf get for my 2011 Macbook Pro.

Up until about two weeks ago my MBP was idling around 35-40 c. NOW all of a sudden is is idling areound 65 c!!! I can boot my machine after being off for hours and in a matter of minutes the temperature will rise. I do not play games, and the most video card strain I put on it is an occasional you tube video. I had smcfan control installed but deleted it because seeing the temperatures up there on the monitor started freaking me out. It wouldn't matter if I ran the fan at 5000+ rpm, it would not cool it down. Should I schedule an appt with the Apple store? It is less than 5 months old.

In january 2012 i received MacBook Pro as gift from my brother. MacBook works fine, untill yesterday, when turned off automatically. When i tried to turn it on again, nothing happened. I tried with resetting SMC, PRAM, NVRAM, but that doesn't help at all. Â
I thought it was battery, so i opened it, disconnected battery, and when i plugged in MagSafe, MBP automatically switched on. When i shutdown MBP via shutdown button inside OSX, everything went fine, but when i pushed Power On button on MBP, it won't turn on again. So, i tried to replug again MagSafe, and MBP powered on again automatically. When i plugged back battery again, it won't power on, even with MagSafe "trick". Â
I live in Serbia, and in my country, there is no AppleStore :/ To make it worse, since my brother moved to another city, he lost warranty, so we don't have it What should i do? MBP is old only 6 months

I just bought a late 2011 17" MBP with 4GB RAM (standard).Having upgraded to Adobe CS6 I am finding the machine impossibly slow, so I figure I need more RAM. Apple says max = 8GB (2x4), but Crucial Memory recommend 16GB "guaranteed compatible". I'm now quite unsure: can I really put 16GB in? Are Apple wrong? If Crucial have sold loads of 16GB kits that can't be used, surely they'd have taken it off their website? Can anyone confirm whether I can put 16GB (i.e. you've actually done it successfully).I'm running Lion 10.7.4

I'm an amateur photographer, and numerous blogs suggest it's necessary to calibrate computer monitors. My old macbook probably needs it - 2007 - but an art director friend of mine says recent macbooks no longer need it. Any thoughts on this board which is the case?

I'm used to using the keystrokes control-shift-eject to put the display to sleep without activating the screensaver or putting the whole computer to sleep.Â
Since the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display lacks an eject key, the best I have been able to do is set a hot corner. I don't like this as much -- especially since it is possible to trigger the hot corner without intending to.
I have a macbook pro with retina display that was purchased in 2012 and I am running Mavericks. I have been trying to mirror my mac to my apple tv but the the airplay icon will not display on the menu bar. I have tried turning airplay on and off on the apple tv without success. Under the display settings in system preferences it says No Devices Detected.I have already tried all the suggestions in the support pages to no avail.
