Is there a way to switch off the Keyboard Backlighting on a Macbook pro only when it is on battery power?I have been through the energy saver settings and it appears that the settings apply to both power and battery.

I was just showing my son, my new MacBook Pro and he came up with a brilliant idea. He said, wouldn't be cool if you could change the colour of the keyboard backlight, and even added that it could be done with voice control. How cool would that be Anyone know of any mods that have been done with this in mind?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I spilled orange juice on my 2.26ghz mid 2009 Macbook pro keyboard. I turned it off right away unplugged it and turned it upside down. I took the back off and cleaned and dried it all out. after letting it dry for a while I turned it on and everything seems to be working normally apart from a few sticky keys which I'm slowly taking off and cleaning and the facet that the keyboard lighting is no longer consistent. So my question is How does the keyboard lighting work exactly and how might I go about fixing it? here are some photos so you can see what exactly is going on.

I received a new iMac about 2 weeks ago, and I'd like to know how long the battery is suppose to roughly last for the keyboard and magic mouse. When I installed iStat Pro widget, it showed the battery power for my mouse, but the keyboard has never showed up. My mouse has been steadily losing battery power and is now at 28%. However, bluetooth states the power to my keyboard is 100%. This doesn't seem correct.
One other thing I've noticed in the bluetooth menu, under devices, is that the keyboard is labeled as "Apple Wireless Keyboard", while the mouse is title's my name's mouse (I.e.: "Darkroom's Mouse"). This may just nothing, but I'm assuming it's another symptom of my keyboard not being fully read by the OS.
I've got myself a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro 15" and I'm curious about the keyboard lighting. It appears that the keyboard should light up when the lighting conditions require it (eg it gets dark) but it doesn't appear to be that way.. and if I turn it on manually, the keyboard stays lit up even in direct sunlight.

I just installed windows on my macbook Pro, but i could only install it on the. Boot camp driver. Cuz thats the only one that would format to NTFS. Now that i installed windows, i cannot switch back to osx. If i didnt delete or completely remove osx, will someone please tell me how i can get back to osx. Yes, i tried to f6 it and see if i can switch back but osx isnt even listed on there. So my question again, did i completely remove osx?

Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this or if any experts out there know of the issue.I have a spare White Macbook (late 2008: Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz, 1GB, 120GB) that I'd like to set up for my brother to use to introduce him to the wonderful world of Macs. The problem it is having is that when I have a battery connected to it (I tried 2 different ones included a known-good one that is brand-new just purchased from Apple) it powers on and gives me the chime, but then immediately shuts off unexpectedly giving that little "whine" sound like if it just lost power all of a sudden. However, when i take out the battery, and just plug it into the Magsafe AC charger it works fine. Also when just trying to run on battery it does not turn on at all. Here's some cliffs:
1) Macbook with just battery does not turn on
2) Macbook with battery + Magsafe AC charger connects powers on, gives the chime, but then immediately shuts off making the "whine" sound as if the power was suddenly cut off
3) Macbook with no battery connected and just the Magsafe AC charger connected works fine.Do you guys think this is either:
A) battery connector issue (the little piece with the metal wires that the battery connects to. ~$50 part)
B) Logic Board issue
I already tried resetting the PRAM and SMU to no avail.
I just turned on my 13" MBP and got this message. Apparently, this is supposed to come up when there is only like 5% charge left. My battery indicator at the top of the screen said there was 22% charge left. Also, according to IStat, my battery's health has already dropped down to 97% after only about 2 weeks and 5 cycles. Is this normal? I'm going to try recallibrating my battery by fully charging it and then letting it fully drain. Is there a good chance that this solves this problem?

You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

And I love the new task bar. Since it's a new installation (on a better computer, too) it seems even faster than XP and even OS X. So now that many of you have had experience with the beta, do you think the final product will be enough to make you switch back to Windows? And if you've been a Mac user all your life, will you cross to the "dark" side?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs I just bought a 13" MBA, I am still in my "babying" phase of the machine and want its battery power/capacity to last as long as possible. I have already done the battery calibration recommended by Apple (not even sure if its 'necessary' but I did it anyways), with charging, resting, draining, resting, and re-charging. But now I am worried about the battery cycles. Should I only plug my MBA in when the battery is close to being drained (aka use it on battery power for most of my usage?) or is it okay to drain the battery to like 80% remaining, charge, and then drain to 70% remaining, then charge again? Im not sure if Im making sense, but basically I don't want to be wasting these valuable cycles, as they seem to determine battery health and longevity. So what is the proper battery usage for the MBA, or is it basically use off power when you want and use on power supply when its available?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I moved from Windows to MacOS, I tried to find MacOS applications to replace the ones I used on Windows (just like everybody). The more I tried, the more I found out that I should go for apps designed specifically for the MacOS, as they were more streamlined than the ones made for Windows and then converted to the MacOS.
Anyway, I found out some truly useful MacOS apps and which have great functionality. Some of these apps have features which are not shared by any Windows apps (or at least it seems to me).
If I were to go back to Windows (just to make it clear: I'm not), would I be able to replace the MacOS apps I use with Windows apps with the same or similar functionality? I'd like to make this a kind of game in order to find out which MacOS apps are non-replaceable killer apps.r own apps to the list.
