I tried to send an email with several jpg attachments. I've watched the spinning ball for over an hour. I can find no way to stop the message from trying to send, nor can I delete it.Â
Is there any way to get out of this loop?Â

I've uninstalled appdelete as I now use cleanapp. Anyway, I have uninstalled it but the contextual menu is still present. I have tried looking at the services and libraries but cannot locate the specific item needed to be deleted to remove the appdelete contextual menu item.

I've tried going into Terminal and using rmdir and dragging the folder I want deleted to Terminal, but it says the folder is not empty, and doesn't delete it. Using rm and dragging deletes other than folders, but how to do this for folders escapes me (unless I go and delete all the contents, which would be a PITA).

I have a duplicate item, namely Expander Daemon, in Sys Prefs > Accounts > Login Items. The first one heads a list of 7 items in total. It says its Kind is Unknown. The second ED is at the end of the list and its Kind states Application. Is it safe to remove the first ED?

You can?t undo this action" - 'Show warning' is not selected in finder preferences. I have a nine day old 27" gi7 imac where I copied all the settings from my macbook pro via time machine. Both machines were on 10.6.2 and I am the only user - this problem only surfaced today. I ran Repair Disk Permissions with no luck and called Apple?.. they said that the only way to get rid of this was to perform a clean install making sure to back-up everything. I said that that was crazy and would involve me in having to invest in a new HD as I've already filled the imac with 500gb of stuff that has now been wiped over and I don't have a spare 500 gigs kicking around.

I am working on clearing off some hard drive space, and my first step was to remove some unneeded items from an external HD to make some space there. When I drag the folder I'm trying to delete to the trash, I first get a message that the items will be immediately deleted (I think because my internal HD is quite full?) and that's fine because I do want to delete these, so I say OK. It starts the process of deleting, and counting how many files it's deleting, then gives me a message that the operation cannot be completed because item "xx" is locked. The only solutions I have found on here involve unlocking "xx" but my problem is, when I search the computer and/or the external for item "xx" nothing is found. I'm really not sure if the issue with item "xx" is an issue with the drive or with the computer, or what to do about it?? If it's the drive, I suppose I could back up what I do want to save from the drive then re-format it?

I have a Imac 27" - suddenly it seems it freeze - I can move the cusor with the pad - but clicking dosn't activate the function. I have tried to restart (power off) but still the same. I have gone to Home/Library/Mail and deleted messages in the Outbox, but am still having the same problem. I've also restarted my computer, but that hasn't worked, either.
I'm a iMac novice (I've moved from Windows). When I write new emails, sometimes (and ONLY sometimes), it keeps them in the outbox for indeterminate periods - up to many hours. I can still receive emails while there's one in the outbox, so it can't be a connection problem, and I've got only one account. Outlook Express has a "Send" button, and I'm regretting losing that facility with the iMac.

This is odd. Any mail I compose (in the standard Mac Mail app) goes directly to my outbox, and will not send. This is only true of my desktop computer. My laptop (using the same settings) sends mail easily. I can receive mail with no problem. Connection Doctor shows that I'm connecting to the server. Port settings, etc. are the same I've used for years with no problems whatsoever. Even when I use other mail servers with which I have accounts, the same thing happens, so it's an issue specific to my Mac and my Mail app, not the mail server. I have a CD in my iMac that won't come out. Evidently the drive is broken. I tried all of the tricks, I think. I no longer have a warranty on it. It seems that others have had the same problem concerning the Pioneer DVD RW, DVR - K06. Can I somehow pull the cd out? I don't want to hurt the computer but the drive is history. Other than taking it apart or getting it fixed, do I have any other option?Â
