I'm a iMac novice (I've moved from Windows). When I write new emails, sometimes (and ONLY sometimes), it keeps them in the outbox for indeterminate periods - up to many hours. I can still receive emails while there's one in the outbox, so it can't be a connection problem, and I've got only one account. Outlook Express has a "Send" button, and I'm regretting losing that facility with the iMac.
I'm helping my mother who has an old mac laptop. I'm not familiar with macs so please bear with me. Her email has stopped working. She's using OS 10.3.9. It's apple's email app. I notice that when trying to send it sometimes says that it timed out on port 25. She seems to receive items but can't send. She's sent things to me which haven't gotten through. She used to have a percentage bar and a sound when mail was sent which has stopped. She has full bars for her wireless connection and safari browses the internet fine. What should I be looking for?
I ask for forgiveness since now if I'm posting something that already exists and I couldn't find, but I wasn't able to find any helpful resource to fix my problem. I've always used Mail and I like it. I have three addresses, one of the provider, the other two belongs to my personal domain. They've always worked fine. Since two months they suddenly stopped to send e-mails. The error says there's a problem with smtp server. I tried to change smtp settings, I've edited mail settings, tried to set up another account and tried to download another app for mail: always the same problem. My mother, that has a mac too and an e-mail account with our provider, doesn't have any problem. So I tried to copy those settings on my MacBook Pro.. nothing.
I've been using mail for a while and have been having problems sending mail from it using my isp's settings. i just got a mobile me trial account to see if I could use that to send email from the app. That was another no no. So I tried to reset mail so I could start a fresh by deleting the mail folder in the library. Now when I open the app it auto add the mm account and only has an inbox, no other options down the left hand side etc and still tries to connect to my old isp's smpt settings. Im looking for a way to reset mail to fresh.
After the latest iPhoto update a week or so ago, my ability to e-mail from iPhoto has stopped.I get an error: "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later." This is not the case, standard mails work fine and I have removed and added 2 different types of e-mail addresses in iPhoto and its the same (one a .me and one a sky.com) I have diabled the firewall (just in case) but still no joy.
I am getting this response from my mail .... connection to server ''p02-smtp.mail.me.com'' on the default ports timed out. This just happened first time one week ago but without doing something about it it worked out again. BUT now it is not working anymore since 48hrs. I receives emails but sending does not work.
Was on the phone with ATT to reconfigure new inbound and outbound settings, verify ports and authentication - still can't send.
In the Mail Preferences Account Information window, the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) space can't be typed into; it offers an "edit server list" option that opens a window with the terms Description, Server Name, and In Use By Account. ATT instructed me to type the new server name under the Server Name heading but they did not know about the other two categories. So Description was left empty which caused the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) space (on Account Information window) to have a mail server name attached by a colon to my e-mail address, which was bizarre. Only when Description had the actual server name underneath it did that name showed up in the SMTP space. Whatever is placed under Description in the edit server list window shows up in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) space of the Account Information window.
How do I set up mailbox so that all incoming emails from my secondary gmail account bypass my inbox and go directly to a pre-labeled smart folder? Also, how do I send copies of these to my primary gmail account into a pre-labeled folder in that account; once again bypassing my inbox (primary reason is that I do not want to get all my work emails into my inbox but I need to have them connected to mailbox at the end of the day.
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I would like to send emails to all email addressess in one contact. It automatically chooses the first email in the card. Is it possible to choose all email addresses in one contact?
I just ran into a problem. On my mac account I can send email but not receive email. I have tried all he normal stuff like permisions repair rebooting software updates but so far nothing has worked.
Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.
I cannot send mail. This has been an occasional problem. I'd send and a pop-up would offer me choice: Cancel, ~Trash, or Save as Draft. I'd save and successfully send as a draft. The last few days I've had to the saved draft and send in Eudora. Today I spent some time on this. At first it looked all right in Mail/Preferences/Accounts, smtp.west.cox.net.user name--then it persistently included (Offline), but Mail menu bar/ Window showed Take All Accounts Online dimmed and Take All Accounts Offline as the active option. At this time I could receive but not send mail. I have edited the smtp server list a number of times. No show of offline there. When I'm done (Offline) again pops up on theOutgoing Mail Server (SMTP). I deleted the account and recreated it and could not send. The (Offline) did not appear after the smtp.cox.net.user name. Early 2006 iMac, OS 10.6.8 The settings are OK, the same as in Eudora.
Is there anyway to sync the Mac Mail app and Yahoo! SBC Global server with each other? Like on the iPad, you can move files and such, and it syncs with the server. Can I do the same with my imac?
I just got my first mac a few days ago. I think I'm doing pretty well with the changes, but I can't make anything send out of my email.
Sent messages sit in my outbox while the "send" file just shows a turning black circle as though it is trying to send. I can click "Window" and "Activity" and click on the stop sign to make it stop trying to send, but then it still won't send the message when I re-try. I've tried deleting the messges out of the outbox and starting all over. I've tried quitting mail and pulling it back up.
I have a new MacBook Pro. Everywhere I go, I can send and receive emails with no problems using the Mail program. However, when I am at school, I connect to their wireless network. I receive all the emails from my Mobile-Me and Gmail accounts, but cannot send any emails out. When I connect to a different network off campus, it send out the emails that were in the queue right away.
My outgoing servers at smtp.me.com, and smtp.gmail.com. I am running Snow Leopard and the help desk at the university doesn't really deal with Macs.
I can send email at work, but am having trouble sending messages from home. This is a new problem- I have been sending emails from my home account for years. This is the message that comes up in the window of the message I am trying to send: "The server mail.vaxxine.com refused to allow a connection on the default ports."
What a disaster this service is. I'm going to drop it. I've wasted countless hours with iCloud problem. And the annoying music you have to listen to when on hold! I guess that's to make you hang up
