May 2, 2012My power went off and I have lost a word file I was working on. Was this file saved automatically anywhere where I can retrieve?

Aug 9, 2008As I'm sure many of you know, MS Word 2008 has a WONDERFUL little option on the mac version, called NOTEBOOK view. You can access this by clicking view and switching to the NOTEBOOK option. This feature is an absolute GOD-SEND for people like me who like to take notes while recording looong and boring lectures which cause rapid flare-ups of my ADHD.
Now, unfortunately, if youre already familiar with this feature, you're also familiar with how often this stupid piece of ***** program likes to freeze and crash at the end of your lecture, basically ruining your chances at the fabled A+. If you're lucky, you saved your document in the beggining so that the auto-recover feature could kick in and recover maybe 80% of your audio/notes IF YOURE LUCKY, but most of the time, YOU'RE SCREWED.
I researched heavily and found no answer other than an apology from microsoft accompanied by "the finger" basically restating their knowledge of the problem. Lucky for me, I stumbled onto a little hint, that had little to do with my specific problem.
ITunes :: After A Power Outage Library Is Lost?
Jun 7, 20121- I have a Mac mini server running in the basement on a flat screen TV, I use this as my home enertainment center. There are Apple TVs on the rest of the TV's in the house and I have home sharing on
2- thunder storms have caused a power outage
3- The library has been cleaned. The items i still had for down load are still down loading, but all my movies, songs, apps, ect are not listed.
4- I was always going to get around to backing it up, and didn't. Iknow, I know
I think all the items are still there, I tunes just can't find them. One of the two hard drives was approaching full and i was looking at relocating the itunes files to the second hard drive, BUT being a novice with computers I was stumbling and never got it done. I had looked into it and remember scrolling through the screens that had been listed in forums. How do i search for Itunes files? the program runs, but the data is not there?How do i teach Itunes to look where i dropped the files when and if i find them?

Jan 11, 2011I have a microsoft word document that I need to print out and this document is located on my notebook pc. Unfortunately, I can't seem to print this document on my notebook pc either wirelessly or through usb connection. I am able to print wirelessly/and or through usb connection on my imac computer. My question is how to do I convert a microsoft word document into a pdf file so I can print this on my imac computer?
As I am completely new to the mac operating system, I was also wondering if I could send this word document as an attachment to my e-mail address, open up the document and then print it. Is this possible? I appreciate any feedback/info on how to resolve this issue.

Apr 6, 2009I have been searching all over this site, but I am in a time crunch. I deleted a paper saved as a word file earlier this afternoon. I downloaded Data Rescue II and FileSalvage, but they are both pretty expensive and I am not sure if the demo actually found the file i need. Can anyone direct me to a free program that works well, or confirm that one of those two programs works before I drop $100 to save a 7 page paper.

May 5, 2012After OS Lion installation pre migration to iCloud, I can't access Word or Excel - greyed out no entry sign and error message when try to open. "You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. I paid for these two softwares and use them daily on my iMac. Need an urgent fix to access previous files. Any solutions to install a fix perhaps, and then re-install the software from my back up? OS X :: Lost File Extension When Run Images Through Automator
Oct 17, 2008I have a large collection of files that I'd like to run through Automator to batch edit some qualities of these pictures. However, these images have been submitted from multiple people, moved around, and just "existed" for long enough that some of the files have lost their file extensions. The problem occurs when I try to run them through Automator. Everything runs fine until it comes across a file without an extension, then it stops, and displays an error message. Does anyone know a way around this in Automator? Does an Applescript exist that would be able to add these file extensions back in?

Feb 10, 2009For some reason when I save a Microsoft 2008 Word file to my desktop, as soon as I am done saving it, stuffit opens and a folder with the same name as the .docx file is created that contains the .docx info. So everytime I save one file I end up with 1 word doc and one corresponding folder. Any feedback on how to stop this or hide the folders or put the folders in their default directory?
