OS X :: Mac Pulling Up Older Version Of Word File?
Mar 7, 2010
This is kinda weird so I was applying for a job online I moved over my resume from my PC to mac.....
when I view the file on the MAC it is up to date but when I apply for this job it pulls all the info from the .doc file and its all my old info from my resume maybe before it was revised.
My university wants us all to use RTF files. As I am sure you all know text edit sucks. But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.
I'm running Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) on a G4 with OS 10.3.9. Safari used to be great but seems to be slowly dying (e.g. can't move to next page on eBay, can't pay on eBay). I am having to use Firefox but don't like it. Is there anything I can do to resurrect my old mate (apart from lashing out on new hardware)?
I have upgraded to 10.6.1 and am generally very pleased. The installation was flawless, including the update to 10.6.1. My one complaint is that Preview has lost some functionality. The range of color adjustments I had in 10.5.8 were so good I normally didn't need to use GIMP or other photo editing program.
Specifically, I could adjust the white and black levels as well as brightness and contrast. In Snow Leopard, they seem to have eliminated those two controls. Is it possible to somehow install the old version of Preview in SL? I have the original 10.5 CD, but haven't been able to find a way to only install Preview.
I have a Mid-2011 iMac running 10.7 right now.I partitioned the boot drive, creating a new space so I could load up 10.6 (in an effort to be able to play my older Diablo II and Warcraft games) but my retail CD version is not working. I did some research, and found that this is because my hardware is incompatible with the oldest versions of 10.6. What I am confused about, when reading through threads, is how can I get around this? Is there a way I can load up a newer version of 10.6 (like 10.6.3 or newer) onto this partition? Do I need an older Mac to do this (right now both my laptop and iMac are running 10.7 but I could always borrow my Mom's laptop for a bit since she is running 10.6.x)? Since I have a legal version of 10.6 I assume there is a way to do this, but I am not sure how to approach.
I recently bought a new keyboard for my iMac after a beer spill damaged my old keyboard. I went to Best Buy and noticed that all that was available was the new, very thin model of the keyboard with no numeric keypad. I am finding myself making lots of typing errors on this keyboard. Apparently, key sizes are different and the arrangement of even the shift key is not identical to what it was before. Is there any way to buy the old-style keyboards? Or are they out of production now?
I have an older MacBook (OS X 10.6.8) and I can't install most apps. On iOS it will install the newest compatable app. Is there a way to do something like that on a Mac?
Info: MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Intel CoreDuo 2GHz 2GBRAM Early2006
The App Store is showing that an update to Facetime is available, but the update is v 1.0.2 and the installed version is newer; 1.1.1. When I click the update button I get a dialog that "FaceTime can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" becuase the version of Mac OS S is too new." The App Store continues to show this update is available, how do I get rid of it?
I'm using an Intel iMac running OS 10.4.11. Obviously the computer is a few years old now and I'm wondering whether it is worth upgrading the system software or time to get a new computer. Can you guys venture any opinions as to which version of OS X I might be able to upgrade to with decent performance? I'd rather not add any memory if that's a requirement for upgrading - in that case I'd probably just opt for a new computer.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 1.83 GHz Core Duo 1GB 667 Mhz RAM
I was have snow leopard os x 10.6.3 and it was working well with me and so fast then few month ago i installed new os x version 10.9.4 it works so bad with me and so slow not like old version so i tried to install old version again but it dont work.
I have files that were created in Apple Works and Word Perfect for Mac that need to be translated. Mac Link does not make a version for Lion. What else can I use to translate these files?
Looking at a secondhand Canoscan obviously slightly older model no longer available. If it says required operating system Mac OS 10.1.3 and I have 10.5.6 will it still work?
Need to open Pages documents. I created a document on an older version of pages and now my new MacBook Air won't open it and says I need to save it on Pages 09 first. How do I do that? I really need to be able to open my old (old as in only a year old) Pages documents.
I own an older version of Office for Mac. Clicking word, it says version X Clicking Office it says version X. It works fine with tiger. If I upgrade to leopard, will it still work? I'd rather not to have to buy the newest 2008 version.
What version of word does Pages save to? Is it 03, 07, 2010?
I have both pages and word 08 for mac on my computer. All of my professors and the university use office 2007 for windows. My question is, should I save my documents in pages and export them as word docs to be compatible with word 07 for windows, or should i save them as word docs in word 08 for mac?
In Word 2004, when I press Cmd+F to open the "Find" window, and enter a search term, it highlights not just the first (as it has hitherto done) but ALL appearances of that term in the document, and takes me to the first one. If I then press "Enter," which would normally take me to the next occurrence of the term, it opens the footer! This strange behavior has just started
I bought a Macbook Pro and sold my old macbook. My new macbook pro has a 160 GB hdd and the old one a 320GB HDD. My time machine has all the files backed up on it which is a good thing. My issue is, I have a iMovie in the backup on the time machine that I would like access to.
Ibook G4 shut down completely after pulling plug out of outlet. Tried to restart by holding down power button and nothing happens- no sounds, no chime, no light. Removed battery and shows all 4 lights light up. Power cord shows green light when plugged into outlet. Changed outlets etc. Several weeks ago had to get a new cord cause old cord would not keep computer charged even when plugged in. No problems after replacing cord until now. I cannot get it to restart.
I deleted some songs from my library (and computer) but they still show up in a smart playlist (the playlist pulls by 'year'). The playlist cannot find the locations but why does the smart playlist still look for them even though they don't exist in the library anymore? Also, when I sync my iPod it says that it cannot sync the deleted songs. I have tried deleting the playlist and creating a new one, but it still pulls up the ghost songs.
Sometimes I like to eject the drobo from the mac pro, is there any to reconnect the drobo without reaching in the back to pull out and plug back in the firewire cable?
