I have a microsoft word document that I need to print out and this document is located on my notebook pc. Unfortunately, I can't seem to print this document on my notebook pc either wirelessly or through usb connection. I am able to print wirelessly/and or through usb connection on my imac computer. My question is how to do I convert a microsoft word document into a pdf file so I can print this on my imac computer?
As I am completely new to the mac operating system, I was also wondering if I could send this word document as an attachment to my e-mail address, open up the document and then print it. Is this possible? I appreciate any feedback/info on how to resolve this issue.
I have been searching all over this site, but I am in a time crunch. I deleted a paper saved as a word file earlier this afternoon. I downloaded Data Rescue II and FileSalvage, but they are both pretty expensive and I am not sure if the demo actually found the file i need. Can anyone direct me to a free program that works well, or confirm that one of those two programs works before I drop $100 to save a 7 page paper.

View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I save a Microsoft 2008 Word file to my desktop, as soon as I am done saving it, stuffit opens and a folder with the same name as the .docx file is created that contains the .docx info. So everytime I save one file I end up with 1 word doc and one corresponding folder. Any feedback on how to stop this or hide the folders or put the folders in their default directory?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a recent switch from PC to a Macbook and I'm still getting used to OSX. I have iWork installed and I have noticed that since some of my professors continue to post documents in Word format, I can't open them on my computer. It will download the file but not allow me to open or view it.I'm sure its a simple download that I haven't heard of yet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is kinda weird so I was applying for a job online I moved over my resume from my PC to mac.....
when I view the file on the MAC it is up to date but when I apply for this job it pulls all the info from the .doc file and its all my old info from my resume maybe before it was revised.
When I tried to save a word file, the system keep telling me "this file is being used by another program, please save again" then the file name turned into something like "Word Work File L_230232796.tmp" and I have to choose another name for the file. Besides, sometimes the new file cannot be opened correctly.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOne of my editors had starting using OpenOffice and when he sends files to me they arrive in a zip that, when opened has some games and other things and one png file that is a thumbnail of the document, very tiny.
Is there a converter for OpenOffice docs that will open them in Pages (my preference) or Word ?
Any familiar with OpenOffice? Is it necessary to receive a zip file every time from him? He's technically inept and perhaps I can just tell him how to export the proper file.
Recently updated MS Office 2004 to 11.5.6. I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro. Double clicking Word files or dragging them onto the Word icon no longer opens them. My best work around seems to be to open a new blank document and drag the file into that

I created a file yesterday and when I tried to open it today, it was somehow renamed to "Word Work File L_1.tmp". I tried to open it but i got an error message saying "The application Microsoft Word can't be opened- 108" and so i tried deleting it but i got an error " The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43)" ARGHh! I can't even rename it or anything! its just there and i cant even remove it. Â
So I copied and pasted a new one and renamed it (yes i could somehow copy and paste) and that one can open, rename and close, so its normal. I havnt tried restarting my macbook because i have another app opened and i would possibly like to not restart or anything at the moment.

I have a Word document (Business Plan with lots of tables and pictures) that i have lots of problems saving as one PDF file as it has multiple sections. I was wondering if Pages could integrate this Word document effectively and would I be able to save it as one PDF file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe files that Word 2008 has been saving have all been huge, abnormally so. A two-page document is over 100 KB (.docx) and ~30-40 KB (.doc). I thought maybe it was something in Word 2008, because I just got my MacBook Pro a few months ago, but I asked my friend and she told me she'd had no such problems, nor could I find anything on the Internet.
Just to compare, a ten-page paper I'm working on in class is 123 KB now in '08. I went and saved it in '07 as a test, and it came out to 27 KB (.docx both times).
I've been through all my Save settings, but nothing looks out of the ordinary--nothing that would blow up the size like this. Anyone have ideas? It's not exactly hurting anything, but I'm just collecting masses of enormous files that are taking up memory they shouldn't be, plus the fact that they're bulky and hard to distribute.
I have a MB Pro and run Office 2008 on it. I'm running OSX 10.5.8, but had the same thing occur on OSX 10.4.x so I believe its isolated to Office.
In Word, when I go File, Open the application hangs. It open the finder like window but it has a huge amount of columns and spans across at least ten screens. I have the spinning pin-wheel and the application reports as not responding. It does not happen when I do file, open recent.
My G4 died a horrible death, recovered the HD, plugged it in to an imac running OSX, tried to access a folder I really need and it turns out that the thing turned into a .LNK (unix executable file) and I can't open it!

Why can't I attach a file to an email unless I export it to Word or Excel?Â
If I create a file in Pages, Numbers, or Keynote and save it to my documents, I can't attach that file to an email. It says the file cannot be attached. If I go back to the file and export to Word or Excel, It will attach to the email. How can I fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a co-worker that took a ton of notes as I went along and did the "driving" of installing some new server/app and we were going to use that to do the next build. Well it looks like he never hit save one time after starting the doc and then his MBP crashed and it's all gone.
Is there an autosave or temp file created somewhere that it'd be possible to recover this from?
He's running 10.6/snow leopard fwiw.
Every time I try to open an existing document or save a new one Microsoft word crashes. I am able to start a new document but if I try to save it all of the action/editing buttons fade/unhighlight (save, print, quit, copy paste, etc) and I am ubable to do anything. However, most of the buttons in view, history, bookmarks, tools, window & help still work. Then I have to force quit because the option to quit is no longer available.
