I have a Imac 20 with a small 3.5 hard drive and I have bought a bigger 360 gig 3.5 hard drive to replace the old one. I have the new one in an external case with USB 2.0 right now. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Lion on an 27" iMac (first i7 iteration), and have a folder on an external HDD that contains a couple of hundred subfolders.
However - when viewing them in Finder, only the first hundred or so display.
The others are there - searching the disc finds the folders and their contents and, once, the contents are located, they'll display in the expanded view.
I copied the offending folder across to the Mac's main HD, but this behaviour came across with it. This, by the way, was happening on Snow Leopard too before I upgraded to Lion.

I have thousands of folders with images. I previously worked with ease in Windows because Explorer allowed me to view the contents of the folder without opening the folder. I could view and select in seconds.
Does Mac not have this capability that is found in Windows explorer? Do I need to set some permission in order to view the contents? I'm mystified as to why this isn't a set feature on the Mac. How do I get the contents of a folder in Mac to show *without* tediously opening up each folder?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is my dilemma. IMAC with OS X 10.6.8 I have about 200 .jpg images from my vacation that I wish to put onto a CD-R and send to a friend. Sounds simple, but I can not do it. From all of the information I have read I should insert the disk, and drag the files onto the CD icon. But the CD icon is no where to be found. When I insert a CD a window opens "you inserted a CD. Choose an action from the pop up window or click Ignore" It appears that the best option is to open DISK UTILITY. If I do not open DISK UTILITY the CD Icon does not appar on the desktop. I have opened DISK UTILITY and tried all sorts of options. It has a burn option and is says select and image to burn. But the folder with the pics and the files are grayed out.

I have an old Mac, an LC. Back then, USBs were not even around yet nor were CDs for that matter. However, the information on it (max 40 Megabites, not gigs) is very valuable to me and I woul like to know how to transfer it to the iMac with Lion.
