MacBook Pro :: How Do I Transfer Contents From My Other Windows Computer
Mar 20, 2010
1.How do i transfer contents from my other windows computer here? Especially the paid applications? Or should i just go download 1 by 1 again from itunes? (i know i got to download some kind of mod stuff but is that necessary?)2.Is secure empty trash really unrecoverable?3.Will get i my money back from itunes if an app i purchased is removed? (the app is "who has the biggest brain?"
My mac laptop computher broke and my account for itunes was on that computer, does anyone know how to get my music and videos I had on that computer to another so I can still use it?
I just purchased my first MacBook pro with Mac OS X 10.7.2. Before my other laptop crashed, I did a system backup on an external hard dirve. I know there is a way to transfer data from a windows laptop to a Mac, however, that computer is not working. Can I transfer the data from the external hardrive, which is everthing from my old computer, to my Mac without opening every file and manually transfering? Will Mac be able to identify what files are compatible?
can we make desktop image of lion recovery or is there any alternate way , so that i can transfer and store it in my windows based computer.i don't have any time capsule or pendrive with high storage space...2nd Does Bootcamp effect speed or performance of your machine and can bootcamp read windows 8
I am giving my iMac to someone else. I have a Macbook Air that I will continue to use. Is there an easy way to transfer everything from my iMac to my Macbook Air in one fell swoop?
I have a lot of old VHS but my VHS reader is broken. There is some HW and SW product somebody can suggest to use with my iMac in order ti perform the tranfer of the contents?
My G5 is completely full. Can I transfer my iphoto contents to an external HD? Using Time Machine won't help because it only backs up my photos so I can't add more to my iphoto library.
Or, is there a way to make iphoto an external HD application so the photos are only stored ion the external HD?
I need to clear all my music and video content off of it. I backed it up all to my iPod. Can I then just sync the iPod's contents back to the new computer iTunes?
Unfortunately the logic board of my (late 2011) MacBook Pro died. Luckily it was an old unibody model, so I could move my SSD to a similar (albeit older, mid-2009) model and booting up my installation went fine.Â
The only problem I am facing is that I seem to have lost all items in the Local Items keychain, this includes all my Apple Mail passwords and a lot of passwords I entered in Safari. These were very long passwords I generated to be automatically used when needed, for security.Â
It seems that the Local Items keychain is not a .keychain file, but a directory with a SQLite database which is used when iCloud Keychain is disabled. Apparently it just created a new directory with an empty Local Items keychain instead of using the existing one. The name of the directory seems to be an unique ID related to the hardware I'm using.Â
I have already tried to rename my old keychain directory to the UUID of the new one and rebooting, but then it simply renames the user.kb file to user.kb-invalid and starts out with an empty keychain again. I cannot imagine that you always lose all your passwords like this every time your hardware goes defective? I still have the data stored in the login.keychain file, but since I have used Mavericks it apparently does not store all passwords there anymore.Â
how I can migrate the passwords from my old Local Items keychain to the new one?
I have a Imac 20 with a small 3.5 hard drive and I have bought a bigger 360 gig 3.5 hard drive to replace the old one. I have the new one in an external case with USB 2.0 right now. Is there some way I can transfer the entire contents of the old hard drive on to the new one and then swap out the old drive with the new drive and not miss a beat?
I have just bought s 15" retina display MacBook Pro so am running 10.7.4.Â
My previous Macbook Pro is 5 years old and running 10.5.8.Â
How do I transfer files - in particular photos and iTunes stuff. Migration assistant does not work - it just spends hours looking for other computers. I could not get hold of a Thunderbolt/Firewire converter (none in stock). I have got a thunderbolt to ethernet converter but cannot seem to do anything with this.
I'm running Lion on an 27" iMac (first i7 iteration), and have a folder on an external HDD that contains a couple of hundred subfolders.Â
However - when viewing them in Finder, only the first hundred or so display.Â
The others are there - searching the disc finds the folders and their contents and, once, the contents are located, they'll display in the expanded view.Â
I copied the offending folder across to the Mac's main HD, but this behaviour came across with it. This, by the way, was happening on Snow Leopard too before I upgraded to Lion.Â
So it seems that after a few months our computers, yes even our macs, slow down a bit. I just purchased a new macbook pro and am wondering on the best route to take as I transfer files from my old macbook to the new pro. I've read about doing it from a TimeMachine backup as well as just using the migration assistant. But, will moving my files slow down my new computer and make it act like an "old computer" since it will have basically all of the old files?
I have a Word document I have been working in for some time on my Mac. I use an automatically generated table of contents and usually I just have to click on the heading I want in the table of contents to go to the section I want.
Today, this has suddenly ceased working. Even though the cursor still transforms into the hand/finger cursor (instead of the usual arrow) when floating over the table of contents, the whole table is highlighted and clicking on any part of it no longer redirects me to the selected section.
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro as an upgrade from my MacBook Black Intel Core Duo. Is it better to set-up the new computer with my old files by connecting a FireWire between both computers or should I simply hook up my external hard drive with all my Time Machine Back-ups as the source for the new info?
I've set up my new MacBook pro in my married name. I now want to transfer iPhotos and iTunes from my old MacBook (in my maiden name). It wants to create two user accounts. How do I just transfer iPhotos and iTunes?
This might be a dumb question, but I will be selling my current 13" 2.4 GHz MacBook for the new 13" MBP. How can I transfer all of my pictures onto the new computer? Do I need an external hard drive or something, since I will be selling this computer?
Also, all of my iTunes stuff won't get deleted, will it?
I need to get files off of my damaged Macbook and I'm not sure how to do it. Is there a way to transfer files from my macbook to another computer? The damage is to the screen of my macbook and it is severe- you can only see the top left of screen, the rest is cracked/blacked out. Is there anything I can do?
Snow Leopard (10.6.8) became corrupted resulting in not being able to shut down my 1/2007 Intel Core 2 Duo MacBookPro and not being able to download numerous programs and updates. I backed-up my laptop, took it into the Apple Store where they wiped the hard disc clean and reloaded the OS. They suggested I use Migration Assistant to restore my backed up information to my laptop, but ALL of my settings from Desktop, to the Dock, to Finder, to screen savers, to Safari bookmarks, to all of my Mail inboxes, archives and smart email boxes, and to Documents and all of my files and their organization, to iTunes, to Address Book, to Calendar are GONE. Do I need to do some more formal kind of a restore from my back-up drive to recover/restore this information and "get my laptop back" or is it all lost?
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), see note above
I used the migration assistant to transfer fils from my Windows pc to my new MacBook Pro, but the transferred files only show up in a new user created by the assistant I supose and I cannot access them from my user account.how to transfer them to my user account or access them from my user account?
