Intel Mac :: How To Find Web Builders That Require Monthly Subscriptions
Jun 2, 2012
I just purchased a domain name...how do I go about creating a website for a small business? I don't know code and don't mind using templates but all I can find are web builders that require monthly subscriptions...if I wanted that, I would have paid a web designer. I am just starting out and don't make any money yet with my business, the whole point of the website is to create a little exposure.

This weekend I upgraded my Macs to OSX Lion 10.7.3 and most everything is great. I spent some time trying to figure out why iCloud's Find My iPhone app will find my wife's MacBook Air and my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) but will not find my 2008 vintage MacBook Pro. I finally found one misconfigured AppleID and corrected that which then caused Find My Mac to report the MacBook Pro as "Offline" when it was clearly connected to the Internet (via Ethernet cable to my Time Capsule) and even logged in to iCloud itself. On a whim, I turned on WiFi and that did it. The MacBook Pro is now found and its location reported. I have not found any caveats about the Find My Mac requiring WiFi.

I created a bit of a mess with iTunes 11 while migrating from Windows to Mac OS. Somehow I have duplicate subscriptions in the "My Podcasts" view. When I look at them, they don't have proper icons and the subscript setting is turned off (i.e. unsubscribed ). The listing that has an icon and has an episode count is working fine. Also, The duplicate subscription entries do not appear in the "list" podcast view. I tried using "Edit->delete" from the iTunes menu to delete them, but nothing happens.
Is there a way to get rid of these duplicate entries?

Does any body know, how to merge Podcast episodes from different albums and subscriptions, together? Lets say: I have news; collected for one week; I'd like to listen those in one episode, continues each after another, without stoping between episodes. My iPod Nano plays one, and than I have to swich to next one manually. Not convenient, when running in Gym or so. Could not find any good script for iTunes or some things can be done in iPod, after episodes have been transferred in.

Apple had high hopes of delivering an all-you-can-eat buffet of television shows in the form of a subscriptions service by the time its iPad hits the market next month, but opposition from networks has forced the company to adopt Plan B: a push towards lower pricing for a la carte downloads.
In an updated version of its report on Apple's scrambles to secure last-minute content licensing deals for the iPad, The Wall Street Journal cites people familiar with the matter as saying that electronics maker is now asking that television networks agree to drop the price of their episodes to $0.99, down from $1.99 and $2.99.
The concession on Apple's part comes after the majority balked at a more ambitious attempt by company to court its largest network partners into an all-inclusive subscription service, which would have offered iPad users broad access to the catalogs of many of their favorite programs for a set monthly fee, according to the paper.
Still, Apple's struggling to achieve the networks' approval, even with its pared back strategy. People speaking anonymously to the Journal say the content providers are weary of the strategy, fearing it could ultimately hurt their business and jeopardize "the tens of billions of dollars in subscription fees they are paid by cable and satellite companies for their traditional TV networks."

After TM reduces the backups to the monthly backups only, what data is stored on it? Is it all data compiled from the daily backups for the entire month? How does TM treat the monthly backup? The reason I ask is, If I add 100 digital pictures per day for a month, are there going to be all 3000 pictures on the monthly backup file after 30 days, or does TM actually delete some of it's backups before the disc is full?

The iCal application on one of my machines has begun posting appointments to the months prior to and following the date for which the appointment has been entered. In addition, if I tab backward from April nothing happens. Tabbing backward again takes me to February, from which I can tab forward to March.

I am new to Mac and I have a 10.6 server running the following services: AFP, DCHP, DNS, NetBoot, NFS, Open Directory, Print, SMB, Software Update, Web. Everything is going well. I wanted to know what could I be doing to make sure it stays that way. I run the Repair Disk Permissions every 2 weeks, but that's about it.

Just got my UTD DVD today and I just installed a new hard drive on my white Macbook. I shoved the UTD disc in it and it refused to allow me to install it without a copy of Mac OS X preinstalled. No worries, my UTD DVD is for my new Macbook Pro anyway but I just though people asking this question would want to know. If you buy a new Macbook and buy your own hard drive to install in it you will have to install Leopard on it first, then use the UTD disc to do a reformat and install.

I'm in the process of updating our server from 10.4 to 10.6.5. And I've noticed a very disturbing problem. First, I don't need a lecture on enabling the root account. I have a strong password and appropriate security measures in place (both physical and configuration wise), and I understand the risks.
Under 10.4, I was able to set the Security Preferences of the root account to "Require Password Immediately After Screen Saver Begins". Worked just fine and dandy. Under 10.6.5, when logged in as root, this option seems to be ignored. I have run a repair permissions, verify disk and both report no problems. It also seems to ignore the "Log out after XX minutes of inactivity" as well.

I've been having a annoying issue with the require password window that comes up after sleep. I used to just hit a key on the keyboard, the MBP would wake up and immediately I could enter my password. Now, the password window appears, I start typing but then the window disappears and then re-appears while I'm typing, forcing me to select the password I had started writing and re-type it.

I have a 15" MBP with a 250GB HDD. I have about 150 gigs free, so obviously only 100 gigs are in use. So if I use my external HDD to backup to Time Machine, will I only need 100 gigs of it, or will Time Machine need the full 250GB for the backup?

For work, I got a new MBP 15" a month ago and we have the computer set to require password to wake computer/screensaver. When I type in my password, it sometimes takes up to a minute for it to authenticate the password. Other times it takes a second like normal. I check the error logs and nothing is coming up during those times.

I just got my 13" MBP a month ago and am new to Macs. And I've never done any systematic, organized backups on any of my Windows machines in the past.
If I wanted to use Time Machine, should I plan on dedicating an external HDD for this? Or could I also use the external for ad-hoc file copying and storage?
My MBP has a 250GB internal HDD, and I was planning on getting a portable 320GB external.
