Mar 14, 2012I have a 2007 20 inch Intel core 2 duo iMac and an LG 46" LCD tv. I bought an HDMI cable and a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter but cannot get them to work together. Nothing happens when I click on detect displays in the system preferences.Â
Do I possibly have the wrong version on Mini DVI, for instance DVI-D instead of DVI-I?

Apr 19, 2009I have a 17 Inch Intel-based IMac (2006). when I press the power button I can here and feel fans running but the Power Indicator Light turns on and the screen remains black. Nothing else happens. Not sure what I did. I didn't take anything apart. I checked over the whole compartment and all connectors appear to still be connected.
I did some research figured out how to disassemble the IMac, purchased a new hard drive, backed up the computer and when I took it all apart there was a third connector on the hard drive (temp sensor?). The new drive did not have this connector so instead of experimenting I put the computer all back together.

Mar 21, 2012Can anyone explain to me why, on my iMac's 500GB hard drive, the displayed size of the only 4 items on it is 207GB, that the info box on the HD itself says 393GB used? Unless I failed grade 1 math, 500GB - 207GB = 293GB, right? So where's the missing ~100GB? That's a lot of space I know I haven't filled up.Â

May 27, 2012my macbook pro (late 2011) is powering down without warning. I'll be writing an email and w/o warning, it's off. I'm unable to turn it back on with the power button unless i hold it down for a slow count to 10. Fyi - machine is 100% charged when this happens. Two days ago, I did SMC and PRC resets with Apple Care. I needed to do both of these again yesterday on my own.

Whenever I put any disc into the drive it almost goes all the way in and then it automatically ejects the cd. The cd never goes fully into the drive. May 31, 2012I have a 2006 Intel Macbook with a crashed hard drive. I'm kinda broke right now, so instead of buying a new hard drive I loaded ubuntu 10.4 onto an external hard drive (USB) and tried to boot the macbook from it. (Failed). I hold down option to launch Startup Manager and all it shows me is a cursor (no drives). I know the external drive is bootable because I a) booted the laptop from a LiveCD and used it to create the hard drive and b) I booted a Dell from the external. I've tried moving the drive to a different USB port, but no chips. I don't have anything else connected to the computer.Â
my question is: Can I boot the macbook from the external hard drive if the internal hard drive is shot?

Feb 20, 2012My mid-2007 intel iMac 24" won't power on, there is no sound, screen activity or signs of life other than a slight "bzz bzz" when the power button is pressed. Yesterday it was working fine, I put the computer to sleep and when I attempted to wake it the next day, it would not. The optical eye on the mouse was lit and a green led light could be seen reflecting through the memory access door, but the computer made no sounds and would not wake. I held the power button until the mouse turned off and then attempted to reboot. All I get is a quick buzz (possibly the hard drive sound that you normally hear just before the chimes and screen powering on) when the power button is pressed, but no other activity. I attempted resetting the SMC and reinstalling the memory, no avail. Just a little buzz and nothing else. An
