I never "burned" a disc before and want to copy wedding photos that I have in iphoto that I downloaded from a CD from the photographer. I have some CD-R discs I bought a few years ago. I got this "burn failed" message, and I do not know, do I need new discs? My imac was purchased in December 2010, and these discs are older.Â
I got an error message while burning a CD in iTunes - "the attempt to burn a disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error."What does this mean and how do I fix it?
Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.
why I get this message when trying to burn photos on to high quality discs."The burn to the SuperDrive drive failed. The disc drive didn’t respond properly and can’t recover or retry." I have just managed to burn some others photos perfectly fine.
I'm having a problem when trying to burn DVD's, I have get the error 'failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media', I get this error with the internal super drive and also the external Pioneer DVR-116D, I have tried 2 different brand of discs but still the same results.
I had a look around and a lot of people said about cleaning the drive worked but obviously this is happening to two drives and two brands of media, both discs are +R DL discs.
i'm trying to burn a Windows 7 ISO my brother got from some ACM subscription thing. Anyway, every time i try to burn it, it says "Unable to burn "(cd name)". (The burn failed because of a medium write error.)". Why is this happening? Is it the superdrive or the DVD-Rs? My computer is the Macbook pro with 2.4GHz intel core 2 duo cpu and with 2GB of 676MHz DDR2 SDRAM. The DVD-Rs i'm trying to use are Sony branded.
My Macbook keeps saying 'The burn to the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-898 drive failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error.' everytime I try to burn a cd with data on it, it has only just started doing it after 2 years of use, how do I fix it?
I recently received an iMac as a "gift"... turns out it has some problems. I am unable to reinstall the default OS (Mountain Lion) because I have yet to be able to partition the HDD correctly. The error I keep getting is:Â Partition failed with the error: Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. At this point, the default Macintosh HD isn't showing, so it must of been erased/deleted.Â
I'm backing up loads of files to DVD, I dragged all the files into Toast and started burning, letting Toast organise the files across multiple DVD. On DVD 11 of 18, there were some drive errors, and Toast crashed.
I had tried to write several DVDs and CDs before, and they failed (it turned out to be that they were already used DVD-Rs), but the burn folders for them are still on the sidebar in Finder, as shown in the pictures below. It's not necessary, but I would like to get them off, so is there any way to do it?
I have 2 mail accounts setup in Mail. They are on separate domains I host on my server. One account works great, the other gives this error message every time I try to send. "Sending the message content to the server failed." It offeres me to use a different outgoing mail server.I am on latest Lion 10.7.3. mail version os 5.2 (latest). I connect through Airport Extreme.I Googled the problem and searched everywhere. I also tried deleting and setting up the account. I checked all my settings (multiple times). There is nothing to fix in settings. The Connection doctor does not see any problems.
Here is the really frustrating part: Messages actually get sent. The recipeint always receives them. If I try again with the same server, I get the same error message and again message gets sent. But to Mail it is still unsent and sits in Outbox prompting to send.I also tried the MTU trick. No luck. I should also say that I have seen this problem before on other accounts. I've also seen it come and go. It happened on Snow Leoprad and Leopard too.
Often I just put my Macbook Pro with Lion OS to sleep manually, instead of shutting down. Since the upgrade to OS Lion, when I return to the computer I often am greeted with a message that I could not be logged out because Firefox failed to quit. Is sleep a logout? I don't intend to logout...though I do require a password to regain access after the computer enters the sleep state. This is a consistent issue with Lion, which never occurred with the earlier OS.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac and Office updates all current
I am trying to burn a 4.2 GB project in iDVD. My project is saved onto an external hard drive, and when I start it burning, I get an error message that says "Not enough free disk space for encoding the remaining assets." It says I only have 825 MB available on my hard drive and 3.362 are needed for encoding, but I actually have 786 GB free! Any idea what could be causing this?
So, yesterday I went to burn an audio cd in itunes. When I clicked burn I recieve a message that stated "Disc Burner or Software not found." I then went to About this mac in the toolbar and click "Disc Burning" and it states that there is no burning device found. Help would be appreciated, here are my specs Mac mini C2D 1.6Ghz 2Gb Ram OSX 10.4.11 I know its there(Combo CD burner/DVD reader drive.)
The other prob is that there is a disc stuck in the drive. I have tried all the various methods to eject the disc to no avail including rebooting and holding Cmd-Opt-O-F then typing eject cd but alas I "have no cd drive"
New to iMac, just trying to do something I could do on the PC without any trouble. Can't seem to get the burn folder to burn to a new CD-R. Can't seem to get the iMac to recogmize that there is a CD in the drive.
Have tried more than one CD. It does eject, but stalled out on the transfer.
I miss my PC. this has taken an hour for something that should be--well--easy.

Had a power failure while the iMac was doing updates. Now I have a white apple screen and the grey spinning wheel on start and that's all I get. What do I do now?
I've been having a connection issue for a while where some days I can connect to our networked drive just fine and some days it fails and gives me the connection failed window. The shared drive is hard connected to an imac and I connect to it via the shared items or apple + k with the ip address. When the connection fails they both stop working.
My hard and back up disk both failed on the same day, strange but the kids were on the computer and things happen.Running Mac OS 10.6 I paid $800 to "super geeks" to recover the pics > 30,000 (many duplicates)I will receive a 500 gig external drive from them today via Fed Ex with the pics recovered . My plan is to move them to my iMac (had a new HD put in) but I do not want to transfer 30,000 pics priorto running duplicate annihilator & thumbnail annihilator on the new external drive. Is there an easy way to do this > looking for help? Can I run the programs on the recovered drive I will receive today prior to my transferring? Or is there a more efficient way of doing this.
I got a 24" iMac, Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAMÂ My main problem is that whenever I restart my iMac, two problem reports emerge, neither of which can be sent to Apple due to an additional message which reads "Submission Failed: Your report could not be submitted. Please try again." Anyway, the report reads as follows: Â
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â LoaderAgent [86] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Library/Application Support/AVG/AgentTools/LoaderAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/LoaderAgent Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â LoaderAgent Version:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ??? (???) Code Type:Â Â Â Â Â Â X86-64 (Native)
[code].....
Now, normally I probably wouldn't have such a problem with this, however, some times when I put my iMac to sleep, I get a grey screen with a folder containing a question mark and a "non" sign over it. I have no idea what this means but I usually cannot turn my iMac back on for a half hour before it works again.
I tried to install windows through boot camp and it failed for some reason, now when I startup I get a white screen with the startup chime followed by a black screen with a blinking line in the top left of my screen. Is there a solution? (It's still under warranty, also)Â Also, if I leave the windows install disc in, it tells me to "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" (or something similar), but my iMac doesn't to respond to my key mashing efforts.Â
I have an iMac made in mid 2007. It is an Intel Duo Core processor. The hard drive has failed. Apple says I can use an external drive to run it. I have a installation disk for Snow Leopard. How can I install Snow Leopard onto the external disk given that the computer is unusable?
I have a 21.5in iMAC (mid 2010) and I keep trying to burn a disc with photos on it. It appears to be burning normally at first then during the second half of the burn (the verification bit) it starts making clunky noises and then ejects the CD. I've tried several new blank discs and several different makes as well, and it spits them all out. It says 'error code 0x80020063' I can read CDs fine.Â
