When I start up my iMac the desktop photo only takes up part of the display area in the upper left. The Dock is also showing up on the right side of the desktop photo and not on the right hand side of the screen where it should be. All my desktop file icons are where they should be. Â
If I switch accounts and switch back the display is back to what it should be. This just started happening in the last week or so and only happens on one account on the computer. I have not made any setup changes or installed any software before this happened but I did install the latest OSX update right before this started happening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?Â

I was uploading photos into iPhoto (with the delete originals option on) and my entire system froze up so I had to restart my MBP using the powerbutton. Going back to get the photos, all but 5 are gone. Any way to check if I can get any back? I'd be willing to buy reasonably priced software, but free is always better.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I load a photo from a thumbnail in iPhoto the photo loads a version that is slightly blurry, then after about 5-10 seconds it jumps into focus. I am using a 2006 24inch iMac and the graphics card only has 256k of memory.
Is the delay in focus a function of iPhoto or is it because I have an older graphics card? I'm asking because I want to buy a newer computer (probably a Mac Pro) and am wondering if a faster graphics card will speed up the photo loading.
I'd like to print photos and text simultaneously on 7x10 card stock from iPhoto and can't seem to find any way to do it save for designing the cards on line and then having to order and pay for them (or re-feeding the stock, which I'd like to avoid).
I do not have InDesign or Photoshop at home, and would prefer not to do this personal printing at work.
Is there a way that I can accomplish this?
How do I copy images from a photo memory card to my Mac Book Pro (Os x) ? I tried earlier and apparently removed the images from the memory card. I don't want to remove them from the card, only copy to my MacBook.

View 23 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to turn off screen saver (and desktop) in using my photo library (Aperture)? Currently it is using my entire photo library as screen saver and I wanted to turn it off. Clicking on the "-" button in the Screen Saver preference pane does not remove Aperture photo library from the list. I had OS 10.7.3 installed.

I've been using my macbook for a few months right now, and primarily use it for recording me and my band-mates on Logic express, but now, I've not been able to use my iSight on my mac. I don't know what's wrong with it, because I've always been able to take photos with friends in Photo Booth and take movies with it as well. Up till now that is. A few days ago I tried to open up Photo Booth and snap a picture, but all I got was a blank screen. The program would count down, but the screen would just be white instead of showing what it would take. The little green light next to it would go on as well, but it wouldn't take a picture, and nothing is blocking the screen either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac OS X 10.4.11. and my version of Photo Booth does not have a Camera Tab for me to connect an additional camera, it only allows me to use it's own built in camera. Is there any way to get an update to my Photo Booth so I can get this tab? I have checked Apple updates but I can't seem to find anything for Photo Booth.

I need to have the built in camera of an IMac take a photograph and insert it into a field in Filemaker Pro without user interaction. It would hopefully be used for staff attendance, and track who is changing records. I have no experience with applescript, but I think it might be the way to get the task done.

I'm trying to get used to Mac because I want to write some novels with Scrivener, but I'm mainly a Linux guy. I made a .7za passworded archive and threw it on Dropbox, but now I can't for the life of me extract it on a MacBook running Leopard. I've tried 7zX and Keka, but both of them are determined to create either a .7z or .zip archive rather than extract the .7za. What am I not getting here?
I tried to get 7zip, but all the links I find to a Mac version are broken.
I have a few .rm files (RealAudio 10 AAC), and have done a "container swap" so that the AAC is now in a QuickTime container, and is therefore readable by iTunes etc. The problem is that my iPod won't read these QuickTime files. How can I extract the AAC data into an .m4a file that an iPod can play? I have QT Pro.

It will not work when I try to sync the two.
