How do I copy a photo I received in an e-mail to iPhoto?
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
When importing photos into iPhoto, does iPhoto make an exact copy of the photo when importing it into the database? Or does it compress the file to a certain degree?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I click to open the application it says that the photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. So I have the choice to upgrade. But I can't click it because another screen pops up saying that iPhoto quit unexpectedly. I can ignore it, send a report, or relaunch the application. This happens every single time, and I can no longer access my photo library.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I could find the sample photos that are loaded onto macs in the Apple store.

Is it possible to copy the whole library keeping the folder structure intact onto a usb hard disk (win ntfs) and then plug this into a win XP pc and copy the library onto a DVD/CD so that they can then copy this to their new macbook?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI noticed that this box pops up everytime I go to close iPhoto and it's an extremely slow process. Each time I have closed iPhoto, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to "save this critical information." Before I upgraded to my new 27" iMac, it would never do this and iPhoto would close right away. Is this standard now? Why does it take so long to do its thing and close?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust bought a Macbook Air running 10.9.4 and was trying to transfer iPhoto library from our old laptop via an external HD.
After I copied the old library to Pictures folder, iPhoto prompted me to install and run upgraded.
I did that but when I try to open iPhoto it still prompts me "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." after I click upgrade it shuts down immediately. When I try to access the library as described above, it only opens what I believe is called a package.

I try to quit iPhoto and the massage keep saying "Photos are being imported to the photo library" even there is no iPhone or iPad connected. The problem still remind for 3 days and cannot force quit or any option to close the program.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat is the advantage of having iPhoto importing and copying all pictures into the iPhoto library file ("copy items to the iPhoto Library")? Is there any reason why that would be better than managing the picture folder structure manually and just having a reference to the pictures?
I think iTunes has the same feature and offers to import/copy the music files into its library.
I plan to get my first Mac next month and wonder if I should enable this "copy items to the iPhoto Library" when moving my 50k pictures from Windows to the Mac or if that's not a good idea...
I have lots of photos that I wish to keep on my Macbook pro, BUT I wish to duplicate them all on to my iPhoto on my iMac. This way I hope to be able to show my friends when I go visiting with my Macbook. BUT on my iMac, on the bigger screen, I can see a larger version of every photo.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my library on my iMac running Snow Leopard and iPhoto 09. I want to copy it to my MacBook Pro running the same. Whenever I try to copy it over, I get the following error after it copies a few MB worth:
The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "iPhoto Library" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)
I have found a similar problem online that someone was having, but it was error code -30, and they didn't have a fix.
Recently, despite careful file management my internal hard drive has reached its capacity so I purchased a 2TB WD My Book to move many of my files to to make room. After reformatting it (Mac OS Extended Journaling) starting copying stuff over but I struck a problem when I tried copying my iphoto library file over. Its about 47gig and every time i try it begins to copy but then it suddenly stops around 600mb saying it cant read or write something in the file. Is the file too big? Do I need to format the drive it differently? Hopefully not as I've already moved a heap of files over.

I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?

I want to manually add color profiles for my camera in Adobe Lightroom. The path is /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Camera. Another folder for my DSLR needs to be created under Camera where the profile files will be placed.Â
If I go to the Library folder by selecting option and Go, the path ends at CameraProfiles and all I see is index.dat. If I double click the hard drive icon, I see the folder but cannot add anything.Â
