My Epson photo scanner has been rendered useless with the newest operating system upgrade. How do I determine if a new scanner will work with my iMac?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?Â

For some reason when using my apple tv and photostream there are a few photo's appearing on my tv that I do not want to be included in photostream. I have checked the iphoto - photostream folder and the photo's are not even in there. I have also reset my apple tv and still they are appearing. what can i do?

I was thinking about buying a small scanner for general scanning, and then I heard that there are scanners aimed specifically at scanning receipts and business cards. This seems like a great idea (for archiving receipts and tracking spending, as well as filing tax returns), and I was wondering which scanner you recommended. With general scanners I've had in the past I've run into a lot of bad luck with drivers and scanner software not getting updated as the OS got updated, meaning my scanners became obsolete very quickly.
View 5 Replies View Relatedthe arc soft s/w came with my canoscan 4400F scanner a few years ago. i use it just for scanning in photos and mostly slides - it has a useful preview section that i like, plus it seems to be essential to scan in slides. when i converted to 10.6.2 on my new 1999 imac, the program would open but crash on selecting a scanner. canoscan toolbox 5.0 also came with the scanner and works fine for everything except slides. can canoscan be made to work with slides. i spent some time on the arcsoft support site (very poorly designed) i guess the alternative query is -- does apple make software that will support scanning on canon scanners?

The me.com account works for photostream but I cannot get the gmail account to work. The me.com account says that it is the primary account. Does this mean that photostream only works for one account?

Just bought a Macbook Air running 10.9.4 and was trying to transfer iPhoto library from our old laptop via an external HD.
After I copied the old library to Pictures folder, iPhoto prompted me to install and run upgraded.
I did that but when I try to open iPhoto it still prompts me "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." after I click upgrade it shuts down immediately. When I try to access the library as described above, it only opens what I believe is called a package.

Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
I used clean genius and i deleted old photo the iphoto, i want have again my photos?

Is it possible to use Photo Booth as a viewfinder, so that I can see the camera's-eye-view of whatever I'm shooting? I know that literally, it can be done, because I currently use Photo Booth to shoot micro photos from a Celestron USB digital microscope. So why not input from a Nikon? Can it be done? If so, how?
