How do I delete SPAM without selecting it. On my older Mac there was a way, but on my newer one I can't figure out how to do it. When I select the SPAM messages they open immediately. I'm assuming that merely opening it sends a message to those who've spammed me.

Here is the back ground information of this situation. I have a IMAC 21 inch 500GB Hard drive 4 GB RAM, which is up to date with OS X Ver 10.7.3. So my wife loves to stream her favorite USA TV shows via the Internet, considering we are stationed overseas. She pulled me away from the NBA playoffs because she kept getting this error of start up disk full delete files (or something to that effect.) So last week, I deleted about 40GB of old shows that we downloaded and various other files and pictures. Not even four days later the Hard drive is full again, and I think it is from my wife's streaming habit. I went to "About This IMAC", to find out where the memory was being used from and its 377 GB used in a "OTHER", and the rest being utilized from APPS, MUSIC, PICTURES, etc. So next I cleared the history and deleted the cache files and reset safari on both our log in profiles, then logged out and restarted the computer, which did not minimize the Hard drive memory being occupied. Where are those streaming files getting saved specifically, for maybe a manual delete?

I visited a couple of movie streaming sites and now whenever I visit any website, clicking on links etc opens up spam pages. I have cleared the cache and pop ups are blocked but it keeps happening.

I have a late 2007 MacBook running OS X 10.5.8 that I upgraded with a Hitachi 200GB 7200RPM drive not long after I purchased it. It's been working great until about a week ago when I noticed a very quiet and frequent clicking/whirring sound coming from the drive as I was using it. My first reaction was that it might be the "click of death," but I wasn't getting any errors or having issues booting the machine, and the clicking was very periodic and not sudden like a drive crash. I verified the disk using Disk Utility and it checks out. I then opened up Activity Monitor and started watching the Disk Activity and sure enough I see a big red spike in I/O Data Written every time I hear the clicking sound, which is about every 20 seconds or so. Is my drive actually dying a slow, clicking death, or is there a rogue process writing to the disk and causing the sound? Is there a way to find out what it is?

I have a spam calendar invitation. I am pretty sure it did not come through email, since I can't find any email message in inbox, junk, trash, or anywhere else, with any content that matches this spam event.
Besides, "Add new invitations to Calendar" has been set to "Never" all along.
How can I get rid of this invitation without sending a reply to the spammer?
I read is to move it to a local "on my mac" calendar first. I don't have any such calendar, and can't see a way to create one!

I seem to have tripped over this quarantine bug in Lion. Newly downloaded apps simply sit in the Dock with the sphere pulsing, and disappear when clicked on.

Is there anything new known about this situation? Is there any other workaround or trick to try? This is stopping me from being able to install any new software properly. I'm hoping I don't have to wipe the system and start over, but I'm not seeing much choice. Assuming I don't trip the bug during the rebuild process and end up back in the same spot....

I've set up Gmail on my mac mail account but I cannot work out how to stop the spam mailbox getting hundreds a day. Its up to about 6000 now. I can of coruse just clear it out, but then I still keep getting messages in my 'Mail Activity' section saying that more mail is incoming and builds back up again.I know spam is not really a major issue if its just getting caught up in the rightful section anyway, but its just an irritant to get so much spam and seeing my Mail Activity box constantly active.

I received an e-mail from an old friend with an attachment.I inadvertently clicked on it and it started to download;which i stopped. Nothing shows up on my desktop, what steps/where should I look to see if there's any potential spam? I guess I should consider my e-mail could be compromised?
View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago started finding about 50-60 "Mail not delivered" emails a day in my Junk folder. Appears to be countless emails sent from me and returned undelivered back to my IP administrator and then a notice sent to me. I called them- they don't seem to know or care. These get stopped by the Junk filter at Bell support / Outlook.comSame message - different names over and over. Changed password. Computer is off. Access email on remote computer and they keep showing up. Is this coming from my computer system, my IP or some 3rd party? Here is a a typical email 13 just showed up. I have grayed out my address..

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I find things through finder, for example text edit, I'll click on it, but then nothing happens. But then, if I use Ctrl+click-and pick open, it opens. This didn't happen on my old MAC, and I'm using the new Snow Leopard-Mac white '09. Is there anyway that I can make it so that I can double click to open apps that I find in the finder? just to be precise, I wouldn't be able to open up Library in this finder if I just double clicked on it
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased 13" Macbook Pro (late 2011). I have high expectations with my machine because it has i5 processor. However, a few days into using it I noticed that it would take about 5-7seconds before something I click would open. I mostly have 3-5 apps open, Twitter, Menu tab for facebook, safari, then I would click another another app and it would take a while for that app to open and it is quite annoying. Is this normal?

I just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:

PeerGuardian appears to be causing kernel panic and my iMac to continuously srash, and yet I cannot find it to uninstall - Spotlight yields no results at all, and I have removed it from login items under System Preferences / Accounts. I want to remove PeerGuardian completely to see if this resolves the kernel panic but don't see (a) how I can, given that I can't find it anywhere and/or (b) how it can be causing a kernel panic if I can't find it anywhere!

When I left click on a Bookmarked Website in Safari it does not open the website it gives me the option to rename the website. Very frustrating. View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore updating software (10.6.8), in Mail, clicking a message in the inbox caused the message to appear in its own separate window-- not just in the pane below the inbox. I'm not sure why this function is no longer available. I guess I could delete Preferences (where?) and see if that does it.
