Intel Mac :: Change Blue Folder Appearence Of Folders And Insert Images
Apr 14, 2012
I have so many folders that I would like to change the blue folder appearence of the folders and insert images within the folder visualization so to be quicker and find the right folder. Is it possible to do?
I can't figure this out. I'm trying to use smart folders to search for images within a certain folder and the sub-folders it contains.
The problem is, I can't figure out how to limit the search locations. The only options it provides are to search "this mac" or "(username)".
I've tried to use 'location' (set to match the folder name), but this brings up zero results.
Some instructions found by googling said to first use spotlight to select the folder I'd like to confine the search to before making the smart folders, but this doesn't work either.
A few of my folders in my apps folder have changed from 'branded' folders, like Microsoft Office and Photo Shop Elements to anonymous blue folders! Anyone know how I and get the branded folders back again? The apps are there in the blue folder, it's just easier to find the app in a branded folder!
Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite my screen saver will change from my source folder in Pictures to the stock National Geographic images without me doing anything. Why is this happening?
Info: OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Macbook Pro 13" Retina
I can easily change the icon of my HD, or any other application using CandyBar or LiteIcon but these prgrams do not allow me to change standard folders and that's mainly what I want to change.
CandyBar & LiteIcon even allow me to change the "applications" folder, "Documents" and "Downloads", etc... but I havent had any luck with the cliche standard blue folders.
I have iMac 27 and screen problem on start up i have blue vertical lines, when it start i have a lot of blue dots and nothing else. when I connect outside monitor its showing the same.
Just installed lion and still the same problem when it starts blue dots, when startup in safe mode loads of blue lines and dots on the screen.
on my desktop I have an unknown folder that I want to change and for the love of pete I cant change it. I am so frsuterated with this mac I hate it. Everything is so hard to do.
I am new to Mac. I don't know what to do. When I am surfing or emails...some images not show up. Symbol with blue box with ? inside box and no images. Why?
I bought it about couples months ago and my computer is Snow Leopard and 24 inch.
DOesn't happen all the time but yahoo will often come in all out of alignment like a web page I would make. Tried cleaning caches, restart, etc. still not working
Just made the move to a Mac yesterday. I have searched on-line and in forums, but I can't find the answer to my problem. I am importing 500 gig of photos which have been obsessively organized on my pc. When I import them (only 1.5 gig this first time), the images are being moved from their original folders and organized by date in iPhoto. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that I need to tweak, but I haven't been able to find it. Having looked closer, I see there are multiple folders for each year, with seemingly no logic to the pictures that are placed in each.
Does anyone know how to change the way OS X copies images when you drag them?
When the images are equal to or smaller than 1024x768, you the standard small ghost image that follows the cursor until you release to copy. But, if you're doing the same thing with images that are equal to or smaller than 1600x1200, then see a jpeg file icon instead of the ghost image.
What I'd like to do is to change it to always show the file icon when dragging to copy instead of the smaller image. Being able to toggle back and forth would be nice.
I recently purchased a macbook pro after using PC for many years. All my pictures are on the iphoto application.
What I've noticed is that if I go to the All Images folder in Finder, I can see that I have duplicate pictures and all have different sizes. What I want to know if I delete them, would I delete the ones that are in iphoto?
you know in finder there is a folder called images in the sidebar? I have like images from there that I haven't seen in years.. even before I have had a macbook...
Does anyone know if you can change the quality of a resized image with Preview? I've created a service to resize images down to 800px width, but most of the time the file size is as large as the original. This is resizing screenshots off my mbp (1440x900 res).
recently, when I right click my icon, and bring up "get info" of the application. The picture in the top left corner, the one you are suppose to copy and paste the new icon image into is not showing up as the image of the application. It is just the standard like jpeg image paper preview icon thing. =] how to get the images back to show up? So I can change my icons?
I know the Home Folder short name changing issue has been discussed already on here, and most people seem to advise either against it or to backup before proceeding. I just obtained my first MacBook Pro second hand, and it still has the previous owner's Home Folder and Short Name, even though he has deleted all his files from it, and there's only pretty much standard folders within it (Library, Applications), but nothing in them. I've been saving my own stuff elsewhere in another folder I created on the Mac HD drive. Is it fairly safe then to change his name over to my own following the steps on the Apple website, or would his home still be attached to certain important components? I'd rather not create a brand new account where I have to fiddle with settings again for everything, though I'm not sure if I may have to do that anyway. I'm using Leopard, by the way. The login he passed on at start-up still says administrator as a user name, though, not his shortname. Will that change also?
I am trying to insert a 4 Gb SD/HC (unlocked) card into the iMac desktop to view some recently exposed photos. I have tried inserting it both ways, with the Sandisk label facing me and facing away from me. In both cases, the card detection does not show on the screen. Amazingly the 900-page book "Mac OS X Lion, the missing manual" does not even discuss SD card usage for the iMac.I have looked into My Computer and in Lightroom 3, and it does not show in either places. What am I doing wrong?
I cannot insert a disc into my drive. Not sure it is relevent, but I was using cds last night and ejected a disc, but left it half-way out of the drive overnight. After removing the disc this morning, it will not let me insert another one. I restarted the computer, but the problem remains. I have a 27-inch intel Imac.
Two days ago I listened to an audio CD. It played and ejected fine, but now I cannot insert a disk. I have restarted and also unplugged and restarted, but no luck. Disk utility shows the drive, but says it is waiting for me to insert a disk which I can't do. (27" Intel iMac, i3 proc, ident: iMac11,3, Sys: 10.6.8)
Does anyone know how I could go about removing the blue 'screen' or flash I get when my display setup changes?
I have my HDTV setup as another monitor and whenever I turn it on or off the displays all flash blue, OSX resyncs the setup it would seem. Is there any way to prevent this? or override it?
I created a new admin account, and now I need to get all folders like Music, Documents, Video etc from old admin account. So, if I loged in as a new admin I see all folders with red sign in the coner and don't have permistion to see them or move. What are my options?
I do have Time Machine backup from old admin account, but it also doesn't let me open folders from the new admin.
