So my icon for the blue default folders disappeared out of nowhere and they are gone systemwide. I don't know what to do to get it back.
I've tried:
-Relaunching Finder
-Rebooting
-Reinstalling 10.6.4
-Cleared the caches
-Searching for other solutions

I install candybar on my snow leopard but now I cant restore my default icons. Look the screen
1: icon: find
2: itunes (bugged)
3: firefox (bugged)
ITunes/firefox don't appear on candybar.
I can easily change the icon of my HD, or any other application using CandyBar or LiteIcon but these prgrams do not allow me to change standard folders and that's mainly what I want to change.
CandyBar & LiteIcon even allow me to change the "applications" folder, "Documents" and "Downloads", etc... but I havent had any luck with the cliche standard blue folders.
Where are all the default system icons? like the applications "a" (not the folder with the a). if you plug in an ipod it automatically gets the right icon (shuffle has shuffle icon, etc.) are those on the ipod or system? where to find those icons? i know how to change them, but can't find the defaults...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of deleting a few duplicate songs from iTunes, and when prompted to choose between keeping the file or moving it to trash, the default option is always 'Keep File'. Is there any way to change the default option to 'Move to Trash' so that I don't have to constantly click that option?

So now when I click on Users-MyName I have half the list in English, half the list in French. The problem is, how can I change those folders back in French? A few of my folders in my apps folder have changed from 'branded' folders, like Microsoft Office and Photo Shop Elements to anonymous blue folders! Anyone know how I and get the branded folders back again? The apps are there in the blue folder, it's just easier to find the app in a branded folder!

View 10 Replies View Relatedyesterday I wasn't able to click on my desktop icon in finder so I thought its just something silly. I turned off the computer and went to work. When I came back, I turned it back on, to realize that all icons are gone except my HDD, TM HDD and Windows HDD. Everything else is gone.
I entered the time machine and all back ups are gone too except today's and yesterday's. On yesterday's back up I do have the desktop folders and icon untouched but not on todays.
I tried permission, PRM reset, Onyx maintenance and cleaning but nothing is working. When I put a file name in the finder to find it it doesn't find it.
I have downloaded an icon i want to apply to a file and i have it in png, icns and ico format. When i click on the image in the get info window and paste in the file, it just shows the default .png/.icons/.ico image. How can i make it work properly, showing the actual image itself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedStarting two days ago, after about 20 minutes of use on my mac, some of the icons on my desktop will suddenly have distorted pixels, as well as all of the open windows will have a black box surrounding it. I am almost positive that this has nothing to do with my video hardware going bad, rather something corrupted in the operating system. This has happened sometime after I had installed the Adobe CS5 photoshop trial. I have recently uninstalled it, but this problem still persists. As soon as I log out, or restart the computer, everything is back to normal. When the 15-20 minute mark comes, all of a sudden everything starts getting distorted. I am also running Mac OS X 10.6.3 currently.
In the image you can see that the bottom dock is corrupted looking as well but the icons stay in tact. This is very odd.
About This Mac: Mac OS X Version 10.2.8, Memory 896 MB and Processor: 400 MHz PowerPC G4
MUST FIX: I CANNOT MOVE any icons or folders whatsoever (except to the Trash)! I checked the log too, but I have no idea what to look for there. This happened right about 1-2 days ago (11/20-22/2009).
BONUS FIX: As for iTunes, well it got bugged (clicked and didn't activated), so I deleted it and I don't know how to reinstall iTunes. This happened some years back, so I almost forgot about it.
Have this reoccurring problem that when an icon in the dock is clicked it open a folder showing it's location instead of a opening the app.A reboot will fix it, but it is getting annoying.

At some point I changed the appearance of my PDF icons from the default red and white Adobe PDF image to where the PDF icons show a little image of the front cover of the PDF. Now I would like to change all of my PDF icons back to the default red and white Adobe Reader icon. Does anyone know how to do that please? I have Googled this and see instructions for how to change from the Adobe default to custom but can't figure out how to reverse that.

Yes, I can one-by-one right click on the document and instruct Mac to send the file as in icon only. But I would prefer Mavericks Mail to default to a convention where attachments are (View as Icons) and not to display entire document...
