Recently the iMac has been popping up a notification that my keyboard is low on battery. Normally this would come up at 15% but its been doing this since 62%.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
My battery percentage will still the same no matter what it is it until I plug it in, which is when it updates

I just bought a new 2012 aluminum Wireless keyboard and the function keys do not work properly. I am currently running OS 1.5.8. I would expect most keys to match the icons on the keyboard. I do not want to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have installed an aluminum keyboard upgrade 2.0 and this did not help. I just want the the keyboard functions to match the icons on the keyboard.. Volume up...volume down...

- Is it bad to have the keyboard backlight always on? Will it somehow burn out the little lights?
- How much less battery power will I lose if I have the backlight always on? (I use Labtick).
3 year old MacBook with logic board problems (battery not charging although when last seen it was fine with lots of life left) and keyboard issues (dead 3, e, d, and c keys. I am typing by stopping to click on those keys in Keyboard Viewer each time one of those comes up. Arrgh.)
Why not fix/replace now? I have decided to get a new MacBook Pro and have been waiting until the new ones come out. I'm getting impatient, and would like to have some idea of how long that will be. Any real ideas on that?
I did a google search on this and just came up with answers/solutions that I have already tried but haven't had much luck.I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro.
Till about a day or two ago I use to get amazing battery performance out of the computer. I mean 8-9 hours without major issues. Now suddenly for the last couple of days the batter life after a fully charged battery shows up as 3 hours. I can't figure out why.

I bought a replacement battery for my 15" PB Titanium, and after the initial charge (when it reached 94%), it now only reached 46%. I have discarded the preference files that look like they pertain to the battery, but it still only charges to 46%. Anything else I need to do/reset/eliminate/change?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an iBook G4 Mac laptop. It's a model that pre-dates the duel cores that are now standard. I'm having an odd battery issue and I'm wondering if my battery is fried. The other night the computer was run on battery power and was reduced to 25% capacity. Normally this is fine. We just leave it plugged in and the battery charges. This time the battery is not charging. The ring around the power cord that connects the computer is staying green and the battery's capacity is at 28%. I left it plugged in over night and there has been no change in the battery's charge level.
If I disconnect the power cord and re-connect it the light will turn orange to indicate it's charging, but a few seconds will go back to green or blink between green and orange. I have re-started the computer twice. I have switched power outlets and have brought the laptop into the office to see if it was a power supply problem at my home. I even switched out power cords. I recently bought a spare cord when my original cord became frayed around the power connector. Is this a sign my battery is finished and needs to be replaced?
I've been meaning to learn Dvorak for a long time and finally tore up an old Pro Keyboard and made it Dvorak. I was wondering if anyone knows if changing the keyboard layout will void the warranty?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI actually ordered a MBP quite a few weeks ago on the refurbished store, but then I decided to return it as I saw that there was basically only 10 pounds difference between the education discount and the refurbished. So I went into the Apple store and asked them if they actually replace keyboards (as I'm not a huge fan of the British Key layout), and the person said that they would do it for free. So I made my purchase on the spot and two days ago I got an email telling me to bring my MBP in.
Two days later, I went into the Apple store to pick it up and voila it's actually quite amazing how they changed the key layout (I was very confused because of the Unibody design... and how that actually works with changing keyboard layouts). Here's the catch: They wanted to charge me 168 pounds (I'm guessing roughly $250). Which... obviously freaked me out. Thank God they waived it for me but seriously why would a Keyboard Layout cost so much?
I've had a Macbook for quite some time, and it just died a few days ago, so I got a new regular white Macbook.
The thing is that the new Macbook's got a different layout for the keys- the latin american one. Physically I mean. The keys look different, the symbols are all over the place and I'm having a seriously hard time using it.
Is there any way of changing the keys to the american ones? I still have my old notebook, so I can always change them by hand, but even so the white plastic thing around them has a different shape. Would that be a problem?
I try to change it to Command + D and it won't work. I've also tried to change it to other combinations and none work. Even when I untick the Look Up in Dictionary box, the original Command + Control + D still works.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used the migration assistant to move most of my stuff from my old MBP to my new one, but that seems to have had the strange effect of keeping the keyboard settings for the old MBP. Very simply, I'd like to set f12 to increase volume, F11 to decrease etc. but I can't work out where I would change those settings. I've been able to change things like expose and dashboard, but this is proving to be a pain in the backside.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago my Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad stopped working when the battery was in the laptop. However, when I take the battery out and keep it plugged into an wall outlet, there are no problems. A USB external mouse/keyboard work fine, but its not easy to bring them everywhere I need my laptop. This may not be relevant, but when the mouse and trackpad are not working, the screen still dims when I place my hands over the speakers. I have bought a new battery, hoping that was the problem, but it made no difference. I can't check to see if my software is updated, because my software update is also functioning incorrectly. It takes an average of 5 hours for the software update to search, and it always comes up with "no available updates."

View 5 Replies View RelatedHow long does the battery last? I have my new mac mini that I use probably an hour a week, I have the mini attached to a Philips 3D screen and I use the wireless k/m to control the system from a distance. Now, the keyboard has an ON button but I do not know if it shuts itself off after a while. I had the old wireless keyboard and the battery lasted a month, I wonder with such little use how long this batteries will last or how this new model saves battery life.
