I have a 24 inch imac and i am connecting the viewsonic VG921m (19'') monitor using the mini-dvi port. The external monitor appears dull (whites have a yellow tint) Is there a way to match up the display to look like mac? I am using the monitor next to my iMac and its currently distracting as its displaying same colors in different tone.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?Â

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a decent monitor (around 22"-24") that accurately represents color for editing. Right now I'm using a 13" Macbook and an LG 24" monitor, but the monitor really oversaturates reds, so it just doesn't work. Please keep in mind that I do calibrate both my Macbook and editing monitor, so I'm really just looking for a good quality monitor that doesn't oversaturate anything and can be accurate once calibrated. I've heard that Dell makes some pretty good ones, and of course the Apple Cinema Displays are great, but is there anything in the $200-300 range?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis will be my first post on the mac forums.I do video edit professionally on my 8 core mac pro as well as stills. I have the original 20' apple cinema display, but I am looking for a higher res display and I really don''t want to spend that much dough as I am in the process of upgrading photo/video equipment.I know the differences in quality between TN screens, and high quality IPS screens.
Would a 1920x1080 res suffice. I really don't want to spend more than 300 bucks. I know I may sound like an noob but please what are the cheapest highest quality/res for the price.
I am a photography/film student at college, and I have a 13.3 MacBook OSX 10.4.11. I'm looking to buy a large (or larger, around the 24'' inch area, more or less) LCD monitor with around a $400 limit. I will primarily be using Adobe Programs like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, etc., and I thought this would be the best place to ask for advice as to what monitors might be best for my needs. You see, I have absolutely no idea what to look for (I know that a high resolution and correct calibration is a must), but the primary function that I will be using this monitor for is editing photography and video.

A border appears around everything I click on - for example, the text box I'm typing in right now or any icons on the main screen. It moves as I'm scrolling down a page. It is annoying and I would like to get rid of it. It suddenly started doing this after my son hit several keys on the keyboard at the same time.Â

I've been noticing a dialog box that appears and disappears in a fraction of a second, just enough to annoy me. It happens at random times, and have noticed it while working in various applications. I've checked Console and determined that this is the culprit.
View 5 Replies View Relateda blank white screen appears whens i start the imac up, it doesnt seem to respond to anything i press on the keypad or the mouse. it just simply stays on a white screen and wont let me log in or anything. when i turn the imac on it just pops up straight away without the loading sign and bluescreen that appears after the white.

Anyone know what this rotating icon belongs to? And why does it continue to come onto my screen periodically and stay there until I reboot? Just to return again at a later time?

PeerGuardian appears to be causing kernel panic and my iMac to continuously srash, and yet I cannot find it to uninstall - Spotlight yields no results at all, and I have removed it from login items under System Preferences / Accounts. I want to remove PeerGuardian completely to see if this resolves the kernel panic but don't see (a) how I can, given that I can't find it anywhere and/or (b) how it can be causing a kernel panic if I can't find it anywhere!Â

I am fixing this 2007 iMac for free for an autistic child. Apparently, changing computers for someone that is autistic isn't ideal. I don't have the history with this iMac, just that it isn't working. They supposedly did have the hard drive replaced? It sounds like a dvd is inside it when it starts up, could be the installation dvd?Either way, I have not seen it before where the Apple logo refuses to show on the start up screen. It just stays gray. Â
1. I've tried zapping the PRAM. Didn't have any changes.Â
2. I tried starting up in safe mode, but getting passed the apple logo is required for thatÂ
3. I tried single user mode, but getting passed the apple logo is required for thatÂ
4. I tried holding the c key to start up off of the dvd, nothing happensÂ
5. I tried holding the mouse button (and cmd, opt, f, o) to manually eject the dvd during start-up.Â

I have a mid-2011 IMac running Lion 10.7.3. From the time I got it, last Sept., it has said it has a problem and has to shut-down and restart. Then a long report appears with all the codes and apps. listed to be sent to Apple. This was first happening ever 3-4 wee, then every 2-3 weeks, and lately I had 2 in one day. I always add in the comments section that I would like to know what is going on, but never get any feedback, can't read the code well enough, but CPU 2 seems to show up. aI talked to Applecare last week and got a problem munber. The rep. says those reports are used by tech services to see what changes to make, and not tied to individual machines. I am concerned that I may have a lemon that will give out after my Applecare expires. I'm not anxious for a replacement or having the screen pulled to get inside to repair it. I've got it set up too well to risk it.Â

Odd stufff, I have a 500 gig Lacie ext HD that my user uses on her Vista machine...
I am setting up a replacement for the Vi$ta machine, which is a 24 inch imac.
I plugged in the ext HD and nothing happened after I powered on the ext HD.
I checked disk utility and it showed up but as a 2TB size ext HD...
I unplugged the Lacie and plugged it back in and all the info showed up correctly.
But ALL the buttons under "First Aid" are greyed out so I cant verify permissions, disk, or repair disk or permissions.

for only one user on the system, the colour scheme has gone negative. Backgrounds, files, programs, etc. have all been affected. I can't find anywhere that would have this effect - it's not in system preferences or anything like. How can I fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a slide and negative scanner. All of the ones that I have found in the under $1000 price range say they are compatible with some variety of Windows.
Which is great for them.
But what about Mac? I don't want to spend the money just to find that I can't use the thing.
Any recommendations?
Time Machine told me I had to erase the files on my external hard drive and I had to put them in trash, so, I did and it is deleting 55,000 files (Old Time Machine backup) and now it's going into negative numbers? Is there another way I can delete the back up?
