Power just went out and now our iMac ('11) wont restart. When I power on, the start up sound plays and then a white screen with the apple and an spinning circle underneath. After 10 mins, I shut it down and tried again.

Whenever I shutdown or restart MBP 13 with latest OS X. I see white screen with spinning sign. It is never ending. Once I have kept it like this for more then 20 hrs. i tried to install snow leopard on my computer, but then found out it was only a one user disk and had already been used, so i started it back up on the hardrive and now it wont go past the white loading screen with the apple logo and then just shuts down. ive tried restarting in safe mode but thats about all i know how to do.

My MacBook Pro won't boot past the white startup screen with the Apple logo. After doing some trouble shooting my best guess is that the issue is either an issue with the logic board or the hard drive, but I am no expert so I may not be right. Here is what I have tried so far. I have done all these steps multiple times and the results have varied, but here are my most recent results:
1) First off, there are no peripherals connected so that is already ruled out as the cause.
2) When I try starting up in safe mode (holding shift while starting), the Apple logo, spinning wheel and progress bar appear. The progress bar fills about a third of the way then stops. I have left it for quite a long time and it still stays at a third of the way.
3) When running a safe boot (holding shift+command+v at startup) it gives me a " SATA WARNING: Enable auto-activate failed" message, and then eventually times out. Here is the full message:
4) Resetting the PRAM (holding option+command+p+r at startup) does the second chime but only results in the flashing folder icon with the question mark.
5) I tried booting up the computer in single user mode (holding command+s at startup) and running fsck -fy, it again gives me a "SATA WARNING: Enable auto-activate failed", then eventually times out. Here is the full message:
6) I tried booting in recovery mode (holding option while starting). When I do this I do not get the OSX utilities screen. Instead I get a white screen, sometimes my hard drive shows up on the screen, sometimes it does not.
If i boot in recovery mode with my osx install disc inserted the disc appears. If I select the hard drive we are just back to the apple logo and spinning wheel. If I select the install disc it goes to the apple logo/spinning wheel again, sometimes it allows me to start running the install, but then when it gets to the step where you select the hard drive to run the install on, no hard drives appear.
So that's where I'm at. I do not care about losing any data because luckily I backed up this machine right before this started happening.

I got my IMac 3 years ago just recently started running slower in the past couple months, nothing too bad though. However just yesterday it became unbearable to use. 10 min to start up, once it was on took forever to open up any files etc. So I did some research online and I decided my best option was to reinstall the OS with my startup disk. I did that and erased all my harddrive (nothing important on it.) After doing that it ran great like brand new. Today I turn it on, it continues to work great for a few hours then it freezes in me. I held down the power button to restart. Turned back on and it was stuck on the white apple startup screen. After 15 min I decided to power it off and let it rest a while. After resting it still won't start up.

My 24 inch iMac is not getting pass the apple logo. It acts like it's loading, but then the little progress spinner (not sure of the name) stops spinning after 2-3 minutes. It never wants to get pass that. I'm running the latest version of Lion.

So far I've tried using disc utility on my snow leopard disc....it doesn't load. I've tried to start in safe mode...it loads about half way and stops. Oddly enough windows xp works in bootcamp. It runs okay besides when I try to move windows. I'm guessing it's the graphics card. No idea really. Here is a video I made to show you what I mean: [URL]. I've also tried installing a new 1TB HD and it still won't boot from a disc for some reason. I tried install snow leopard through the internal superdrive and with an external superdrive. No dice.

Why is my Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8 IMac screen all white when I turn it on? There is no spiral and no Apple logo and the desktop does not appear. The screen is just white. Â
Prior to this, we had a wind storm in our area with some power glitches today. After one of them, the dock items disappeared and just the wallpaper was there. The colored spinner began going around when I clicked on the mouse but nothing was happening.  I unplugged it to try to reset it, but now the screen comes up all white, there's no apple logo that appears at start up and that's it. Now what should I do?

So my 20" 2.4 Imac crashed on me twice tonight. A box popped up telling me to hold down the restart button for several seconds to restat. The second time I did this it just sits with a white screen and give three loud beeps over and over. Is there a fix for this? Is it my ram? I'm at a loss.

I have an issue with a macbook pro and booting from DVD. When I try to boot from the DVD it starts reading and after a few minutes I hear the driver stops and only a gray screen with the apple logo in the screen. I have tried two snow leopard disk and the original disk that came with the macbook pro. I can boot into the operating system, repair permissions, verify disk and disk utility does not find any problem. I also tried with a usb dvd and the same symptom, after a minute it stops reading the dvd.

You hear the apple sound but after a short while the fans speed up the screen turns grey with a folder icon and a flashing question mark and then the apple logo appears. I have never been past this stage. I have paired the memory installed correctly and I have tried every memory combination possible. I have reset the Pmu and I have reset the pram. I also tried to remove the battery but that didn't help either. I also tried to boot from a system disc but nothing I hear the disc spinning but nothing happens.

This arose from an apple security software download recently and when the machine went to reboot it could not. I have a Powerbook G4 with me and it doesn't boot up. I am suspecting it is hard disk/ software error that is stopping it from booting up. Here is what I see when I try to power it up: White screen, Apple logo with the round circle with rainbow color. Do you guys think that is is a software error that is stopping it from booting up? The last thing I did was to install Windows Messenger for Mac! I am thinking of trying to do a re-install using the disc that comes with my Powerbook purchase but I am at a lost of what to do. I have Time Capsule and everything is backed up on there. My data is on a separate USB HD + Drobo, but for now I need my iMac to boot but it won't. It won't even get into the Desktop. all the guides online says double click the Install Icon this and that...I would if I can get into the Desktop !

Anyway last week a friend lent me a copy off simcity 4, now before you say anything its a legit copy not pirated or anything, I played it for a couple of days off the cd found it fun so decided to install it today. It seemed to install fine, I started up the program and it all looked fine, went to get a drink while it loaded, when I got back the computer was off. Now every time I try to start it up it gets to the gray screen with a apple and the little round loading bar thing and just stops.
I've tried booting into safe mode by holding down shift, it does exactly the same. I've tried holding down command (apple), ctrl, P, R, exactly the same. I've tried putting the installation disk in and holding down C, same. With the installation disk in I've tried holding down alt when restarting like you do to boot into bootcamp and then choosing the installation disk when it comes up as one of the options, exactly the same just gets to the gray screen with the apple and stops.
Macbook Pro was purchased in mid-late 2009 and is running on OS X 10.6. Today is suddenly stopped responding and so I turned it off. When I turned it back on it opend to the grey screen with the Apple logo and the loading icon and that is where it stayed. I have been searching for the answer on different forums but have yet to find a solution. My hard drive is appearing in the Disk Utility but not in the box when I try to reinstall OS X.

Ok so i yesterday, i wanted to learn computer programming so i decided to download Xcode for mac (The latest one for snow leopard) Everything went fine and a little error pops up during the installation saying something about needing to reinstall soundflower(or something similar to soundflower) I ignored it and everything went fine, i could use Xcode without any errors. Today (after my dad and my sister used the iMac) the Mac went laggy with the rainbow spinning thing. I restarted my computer and now i am stuck on apple logo. I went to the verbose mode and this is what i've found.

I also tried holding shift for the safemode but it just went into restart loop until i let go the shift button
