IMac (Intel) :: Switching Back And Forth Between Wireless And Numeric Keyboard

Sep 11, 2014

Just purchased a new iMac that came with a wireless keyboard.  When I am working on accounting documents, I wish to use a numeric keyboard.  The apple numeric keyboard I purchased does not seem to always work when I turn on my computer.  It seems to only want to pick up the bluetooth keyboard.  I have tried disconnecting the bluetooth keyboard but then it says "no keyboard found" even though I have the numeric keyboard plugged into the USB.

Hardware :: Wireless Mac Keyboard With Numeric Keypad - Is It Usable

Aug 1, 2009

I'm reorganising my home office, and as a result trying to get rid of as many wires as possible due to the change in desk space. I'm already going to swap my Logitech MX518 mouse for an MX Revolution, but I'm looking for a keyboard.

I love the Apple keyboards, but the bluetooth version is no good as it doesn't have the numeric keypad. I used this heavily for my job.

I was recommended the Logitech diNovo Edge Mac edition, which looks awesome, but again, no numeric keypad.

Anybody got any recommendations for a fast, slimline wireless keyboards (eg, not one of those hulking clacky multimedia keyboards) that has the numeric pad?

Intel Mac :: Lock F Keys On A 27" Wireless Keyboard?

Apr 14, 2012

I recently bought a 27" iMac that came with a small wirelss keyboard (without the number pad) and a magic mouse. Two questions:

1) Is there a way to lock the F keys on? I use InDesign a lot and I hate that I have to keep holding the "fn" key down to select F2 (which I have set up to change to the selection tool) or any other F key I have set up as a shortcut.

2) Is there a way to slow down the scrolling speed of the finger method of scrolling? Most of the time I just want to scroll a little bit, not an entire page. I used to use my mouse's scroll wheel and set the speed to slow.

Mac Mini :: Reformatting With Wireless Keyboard? (Alternate Ways)

Nov 5, 2010

Trying to reformat my mac mini. I'm a designer and haven't reformat for some time now. I'm fairly new to Mac, I got Original Disc's. I need to reformat but I have no hard-wire keyboard. I know/heard/tried doing the "hold down C" and "option" but I'm assuming its not working because I have a wireless keyboard?

Question: Is there an alternative way in doing a Hard/Complete/Erase reformat when having a wireless keyboard. What options do I have? I have also tried going over to Utility and erase section but the options to select or rename and type, is "un-selectable"? Is this normal?

Mac Mini - 2.26 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory - 2gb
Mac OS X - 10.6.4

Hardware :: Finding Wireless Version Of Apple Keyboard W/Numeric Keypad?

Nov 3, 2009

Can someone explain to me why Apple has refused to make a wireless version of their full size keyboard with the numeric keypad? Their wired version is great, but I can't stand wires. When my full size white Apple keyboard went to the sandbox in the sky last year, I dropped $120 for a brand new one I found online (high price to the fact Apple didn't make them anymore then), and now that one has just taken a dump -- I spilt literally three drops of water on it and the space bar stopped working completely.

Now I'm stuck with Apple's micro wireless keyboard until they come out with the full size wireless one - if ever.

IMac :: New Wireless Keyboard - Squeaky Keys?

Nov 18, 2009

I'm much enjoying my new i7, no dead pixels, no freezing, no screen blinking or other visual problems, etc., but I have a question about the one anomaly I have encountered. The delete key squeaks annoyingly when I hit it half of the time. Is anyone else experiencing this, or have you experienced it with other Macs? Something that goes away as the keyboard breaks in? (I don't want to return it if this will go away or it's something I can address easily on my own but the squeak is pretty annoying.)

Hardware :: New Wireless Keyboard - Alphanumeric Keys Not Working

Oct 13, 2007

I just bought a new Apple wireless keyboard. Unfortunately, I am posting this with speech recognition software because it will not actually work.

I was able to pair the keyboard with no problems, and I sent a short email just to try out the feel of the keys. But then I installed the software update. After restarting my computer, the alphanumeric keys on the keyboard will not work. The function keys, modifier keys, and the arrows work fine. It is literally just the numbers, letters, and punctuation keys that are not working.

Hardware :: Apple Wireless Keyboard Function Keys FIX

Nov 9, 2009

If anyone is experiencing problems with the function keys on the new aluminum wireless keyboard, I have found a fix. Download and install the Wireless Mouse Software Update from Apple's support page.

Or rather I'll provide you with direct links: 10.5 Leopard: [URL]
10.6 Snow Leopard: [URL]

Download those, restart your computer and WHAM you'll have a bluetooth ultra thin keyboard with functions buttons that actually work. THE ISSUE: For some reason Apple computers recognize the new Aluminum keyboard as the old white keyboard. I discovered this by turning on keyboard viewer and realizing that the keyboard represented on screen had a numpad while mine did not. Supposedly Snow Leopard has an update already which recognizes this, however, we have all found that to be false. Install the mouse update and it'll all work out.

Hardware :: Wireless Numeric Keypad - Where To Find It

May 29, 2008

I'm using the bluetooth Apple ultra-thin keyboard. While I like it's small size, and wireless freedom; I miss the numeric keypad.

A simple solution would be to purchase a numeric keypad, but if it's not wireless, it defeats the purpose of using the Bluetooth keyboard.

I found Logitech's cordless numeric keypad, but looks like it lacks mac support.

Has anyone used it before, or perhaps know of an alternative?

Hardware :: Keyboard With Or Without Numeric Keypad For IMac?

Nov 18, 2009

I'll be purchasing a new iMac soon and was curious to know your thoughts and opinions on the different keyboard options.

Option #1: Apple Wireless Keyboard
From Apple Site: For the ultimate in flexibility and to minimise cable clutter, choose the Apple Wireless Keyboard. Its ultra-compact size allows you to place your mouse comfortably next to your keyboard and fits on even the most crowded desk. It communicates with your Mac over a reliable, secure Bluetooth wireless connection. And advanced power management hardware and software extends the life of your AA batteries (included), giving you up to nine months of battery life (based on average usage patterns).

Option #2: Apple Keyboard
From Apple Site: The wired Apple Keyboard offers a compact design that lets you place your mouse comfortably next to your keyboard and fits on even the most crowded desk. Two USB 2.0 ports let you connect your mouse as well as a high-speed peripheral such as a digital camera or printer.

Option #3: Apple Keyboard w/ Numeric Keypad
From Apple Site: The wired Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad offers an extended layout that includes document navigation controls page up, page down, home and end and full-size arrow keys for playing games and scrolling through documents. Its numeric keypad is perfect for spreadsheets and finance applications. And two USB 2.0 ports let you connect your mouse as well as a high-speed peripheral such as a digital camera or printer.

So, what is the advantage to having a wireless keyboard for a desktop computer? If I'm planning on simply sitting at a desk in front of my computer, isn't a wireless keyboard somewhat pointless? The only advantage I can see is having less wires on your desk. Now, I'm intrigued by the other two keyboards because of the additional USB ports. Can anybody vouch for how necessary the numeric keypad is? Is the smaller keyboard a big advantage in terms of desk space?

I have changed both sets of batteries. Turned them off and back on multiple times. Only reason I am able to ask this question is because I'm using my phone. I need my computer back. No I don't have a wired mouse or keyboard laying around. The mouse isn't registering or moving on the screen. The keyboard was working until I tried turning it off and back on. Now nothing is working.
