Intel Mac :: Cannot Find Unpacked RAR File In Downloads Folder
May 24, 2012
A friend sent me a RAR file, I unpacked it and nothing appeared in the downloads folder where I unpacked it to? After doing this a couple of times as I thought it might be a blip, I deleted everything in the folder. But the folder states the size of it is 4.5gb for 0 items?
I presume my computer is playing up:Â In the Firefox preferences, I have selected "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" and "Save files to Downloads folder"BUT - my computer neither shows the downloads window, nor saves the download to the folder.
I need to empty the ever growing downloads folder on my dock. I cannot highlight all of the items and need to remove them one by one, is there a faster way?
whenever I even go near the Downloads folder, Finder crashes. This happens whether I try to access it from Users -> (username) or if I am trying to attach something to an email, in list view. It is really irritating me, because I put most of my stuff into this folder, and cannot access it!
I accidentally deleted a mail and was trying to locate it on my Mac.I thought mails are saved locally, but can't fined [Mail] folder in HD>Library nor can't even locate [Library] folder on HD>Users>my name.I'm using iMac (intel) + OS X Lion + iCloud.
I would like to direct my Documents, Pictures, and "Other" to 3 folders in my downloads folder upon downloading them, either with Safari, with Finder, Folder Actions, Automator, or with any other free tool that does not take up too much CPU load.Â
I bought an album off iTunes a while ago but didn't download it immediately because of capping my internet data allowance and etc., - the net was slowed down to 64 kbps. Anyway, at the beginning of the month when I came back to download the album again it wasn't in the pending download section. I'm not sure where to find it or where to get the songs.
on my desktop I have an unknown folder that I want to change and for the love of pete I cant change it. I am so frsuterated with this mac I hate it. Everything is so hard to do.
my iMac doesn´t allow me to move or paste things, i mean, before this, with the mouse, i click in a folder, or a file, and i can move it like that, clicking it, but now, i can´t, and it doesn´t allow me to paste text, or words?
When I download a file from the internet, the O.S (MAC OS X 10.6.8). only allows me to save it to a few select root folders or desktop. A windows pc allows you to drill down multiple levels (if desired) and save it wherever you want.
I was downloading my senior pictures from the photographers website when suddenly I don't know what I did but the downloads folder disappeared from my dock! I got it back (I think...there is this little blue folder that says "downloads") But now when I download an image it won't go into that little folder on the dock. The little box pops up like it used to to show the progress of the download but it doesn't show the tiny loading bar in the little folder in the dock and when it is finished downloading it does not appear in the folder in the dock!
I am attaching multiple files from the same folder to different emails using gmail. I do not use any email programs on my iMac. Everything is virtual. I don't want to have go through all my file toggles to get to the folder I am working from every time, which is what I am doing.I want the computer to remember and default to that folder. How can I set this up?Â
Is there a way to delete an item from my downloads folder that is in my dock without dragging it to the trash? Is there a way to get a context menu on items in the downloads folder?
I just bought an external HD for my Mac Mini as my media plus downloads were filling up my internal HD. Is the location of the Downloads Folder (and Movies) something that can be configured somewhere? I still want it to show up in my home folder. Is it as easy as deleting the old one and creating an alias for a Downloads folder located on my external HD?
Is it safe to clear my downloads folder? Basically, it has become very large (~20gb). I want to create some more space because my hard drive is partitioned. Basically, what I'm wondering is, if, for example someone sends me a song. I play the song through itunes. Doesn't the song then get copied into an iTunes folder? Assuming it does, does that mean there is a duplicate file in the downloads folder as in the iTunes folder? Otherwise, do I have to manually go through my downloads folder and decide whats needed and whats not?
