Apr 26, 2012I need to empty the ever growing downloads folder on my dock. I cannot highlight all of the items and need to remove them one by one, is there a faster way?

My download folder had disappeared, so I dragged one called My downloads from my documents, and it sits there ok, but it is shown as a white folder, instead of blue like the other two folders.

Jun 29, 2012Emptied my trash and a vital folder in the dock is gone, with the questionmark icon on the folder now. I had not done anything I am aware of to m ove the contents of the folder to the trash. I do have a backup but it is a little more than 2 months old and I know there have been changes since then so recovered the folder is vital.

Dec 23, 2008If I download an app or anything as a matter of fact, I can't delete it. The Trash refuses to empty but I hear the sound it plays when it used to empty normally. This problem occurred when I wanted to set a wireless printer, the printer required downloading an app which I downloaded; and later found useless. I decided to delete it, I moved the app to the Trash and tried to empty it. Finder asked if I want to empty it, I pressed OK, the Trash played the sound but didn't empty. I looked up solutions and one suggested using Terminal; I used Terminal, it worked and emptied the Trash but now if I try to empty anything from Downloads, I can't. The Trash refuses to empty and the whole fiasco begins again.

Aug 28, 2009I didn't expect to have compatibility issues with this combination, but I am stuck. I was experiencing some small problems with Safari after upgrading: downloads would launch a new empty tab rather than an actual download, and I would get graphical glitches loading pages from top tabs - so I uninstalled Safari and downloaded a new copy. However, on re-installing, I get a message informing me that I need at least MacOS 10.5.8 installed...
Has anyone else found this? I did an upgrade install of Snow Leopard, and other than a few 3rd party apps being caught out, all is well, and I am enjoying an otherwise noticeably nippier system. As Safari was working previously (unsurprisingly), perhaps this problem stems from an OS compatibility flag within the Safari installer itself, similar to that found in 1Password recently, that could be altered within the installer package to allow installation - But I am guessing, and I don't see why I am having this issue in the first place given the amount of testing of Safari leading up to Snow Leopard.

Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem.
