OS X :: Lost 'downloads' Folder On Toolbar?
Feb 14, 2009I have lost my downloads folder on my toolbar, and I would like to have it back.
I can OPEN the file, but not leave the folder IN the bar.

Feb 6, 2010Somehow I was trying to change my itunes size and ended up draging my download folder off of my dock. This is probably a simple fix, but can someone please tell me how to get it back on my dock.

Safari :: Downloads List Bug When Toolbar Is Hidden?
May 29, 2012When I hide the Toolbar (to conserve space) I can't open the Downloads list neither from menu nor with a keyboard shortcut. When I temporarily show the Toolbar by pressing cmd + l and press the downloads button, the list pops up but then hides and scrolls the window up.Â
When I show the Toolbar permanently and click on the Downloads icon, the list appears partially in my screen's bottom left corner. This is definitely a bug but I don't know where to submit it.

Sep 4, 2014I'd like to set up the Default Folder, the one you get when you open a new folder with Finder's New Folder (Shift-Cmd-N), so the SideBar and, especially the ToolBar don't show up since I prefer the old fashioned behavior for folder windows. Apr 11, 2010I was downloading my senior pictures from the photographers website when suddenly I don't know what I did but the downloads folder disappeared from my dock! I got it back (I think...there is this little blue folder that says "downloads") But now when I download an image it won't go into that little folder on the dock. The little box pops up like it used to to show the progress of the download but it doesn't show the tiny loading bar in the little folder in the dock and when it is finished downloading it does not appear in the folder in the dock!

Feb 4, 2010Is it safe to clear my downloads folder? Basically, it has become very large (~20gb). I want to create some more space because my hard drive is partitioned. Basically, what I'm wondering is, if, for example someone sends me a song. I play the song through itunes. Doesn't the song then get copied into an iTunes folder? Assuming it does, does that mean there is a duplicate file in the downloads folder as in the iTunes folder? Anyways, I wanted to know if I delete the contents of the Downloads folder, will it adversely affect the files that are actually stored in there. Meaning, will it delete them from other areas of my computer. I have random powerpoints, pictures, word documents, music, etc. in the downloads folder. It's reaching almost a 1000 files! However, for some reason now .mp4 files won't appear in the stack or in the actual folder in Finder. They appear in the Safari downloads box, but not in the stack or folder. It's kind of frustrating, because it makes it difficult for it to find what I need.

In order to display the content of such a folder, I must double-click on the folder instead of clicking on the triangle as previous. way to get back to the right Finder display.Â

Dec 20, 2010As far as I can see, someone on my work mac right clicked on the 'Downloads' folder and set the 'Open With' option to 'Preview'.
As such, when the icon is clicked every item in the Downloads folder opens in preview (massive pain) and there are issues with the folder working on the dock. I tried changing the 'open with' option on the Downloads folder myself but there isn't anything appropriate to change it back to. I assumed finder but that isnt an option.
