I am trying to sync mailboxes with two iMac computers through the Mail Application, however I have been deleting messages on one computer and it has not been updating on the other. I tried to see if I can change the account type to IMAP instead of POP but cannot seem to get that to work either.

I have an aluminum Macbook, eMac and ipod touch. I would like to be able to have iCal and Address Book synced together so when I edit/change information on any of the three devices, the other two devices will be updated the next time it's synced with the ipod or computer. I do not want the music to be shared, because I'm trying to keep the eMac hard drive lean to keep it running as quickly as possible.

I've been having a bit of trouble, particularly with my IPhone - if I'm on the road, and download new podcast episodes daily, and then get home at the end of the week and plug my IPhone into my iMac, rather than syncing the new podcast episodes to the IMac, the IPhone gets wiped out and only has the podcasts, songs, etc that were on the IMac. Is there any easy way to keep the libraries on the two computers and my IPhone synchronized?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the past, I could put an appointment on one computer and it would sync immediately with my 2 laptops, iPhone, and iPad. This is the reason I loved Mobile Me and paid for it for years. iCloud work fine for awhile, but now some of my appointments are not syncing. I have checked all of the settings and they are correct. I put an important appointment on my main laptop last night and it is not on any of the other devices; I then put it on my iPhone and it is not on my iMac at work. All of my software is up to date and current. I really depend on this feature.

Notes is not syncing to my iCloud account, but to an old MobileMe account which I cannot remove. The MobileMe account does not show up anywhere else except in Notes. In Settings I confirmed my iCloud account is logged in. I feel like this is more of a bug than anything else. Can I reset Notes or reinstall Notes? The computer is an older Mac Pro and has gone through many software updates...

Have a new iMac (last years) with 10.5 on it. My email worked normal before I transferred Applications, files & etc from my old G4 with 10.4.
Now I can only get to my email through through my Earthlink home page by logging in & etc. (a real pain just to check my email!)
If I try to use the email icon on the iMac dock I get the email line at the top of the screen , but email page does not open. I have to go to menu and click on "In" and the page opens up but does not download any email. Will not send from this location either. When I try to quit email it will not close. I have to force quit it.
Earthlink said to trash their "Total Access" as it won't work with 10.5. So when the iMac was working ok before the transfer of files I must have been using Apples Mail application. How do I get it working again? I looked all over Mail Help and Apple help and nothing seems to work. Safari works ok.
All the links on my emails come up with the error message: "No associated application could be found".

I have Apple Lion 10.7.2, I use Apple mail, email accounts set up as IMAP accounts, sync'd with my IMAC and Air.My hosting company, 1and1 allows me to set up folder within IMAP so these are shown in MAIL on both macs. As i deal with each email I file in the relevent folder.However recently I have been finding that when I search MAIL for a particular email it doesnt find them, regardless if they are in the folder or in the main mailbox. Weird. I had this happy today, searching for an email I knew I had received as it had an attachment and had found the corresponding reply in sent. However the email which I had on this occassion stored into one of the these folders could not be located on searching?
Email comes into mailbox, I action or reply, I want to store it away from the main inbox so I only see ones that I need to deal with - however I must be able to see it on my macbook air, IPad so I didnt create a folder in MAIL, as this doesnt reciprocate on the other macs?

Creating mailboxes (iMap account) in the sidebar of Mail works fine and they are sorted alfhabetically by name, but mailboxes created from other computers in in Thunderbird doesn't get sorted when syncronising, but pops up in the bottom of the mailbox list in Mail (non alfhabetic). Is there away to get them listed correctly?

What I did was network my computers and pretty copy from computer to the other.
Relatively new to Mac. In Mac Mail, I accidentally dragged some of the default mailboxes (Drafts) out of the Mailboxes Pane on the left up to the top bar and they disappeared without so much as a warning message to let me know! I can't seem to find a way to get them back or the mail that was in them.

I'm trying to organize my mail by sender (if anyone has better organizational ideas other than deleting mail, let me know).
Right now, I have rules so all new emails are directed towards various inboxes (family, friends, etc.). However, this means I need to go to a bunch of different folders to read my email.
Is there a way to set up a rule so that mail gets routed according to email address after being read? I just want to go to my primary inbox, read a message and have it routed accordingly. I feel like I might be missing something very basic here...
Any help would be appreciated. In case you can't tell, I'm new to the world of mac. Now that I don't spend all my time fighting with a pc, I actually have time to try and organize my life...

I have just installed Maverick. Mail does not display my Smart Mailboxes. The contents of the boxes are there as long as I can remember what I named the boxes. It seems that I have to search for the Smart Boxes by name and then transfer all the contents into a new Smart Mailbox of the same name. How to recover the Smart Mailbox before I go through another self defined process?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just updated my Mac to Yosemite. I did a fresh install (erased disk and then restore documents and data with Time Machine) and installed all updates. Everything is working flawlessly except Mail. I can't make it run. Every time I opened it said that will import the mails, and a window appears and start the process. Yet, it does not go beyond there. I even leave my Mac for a whole night, and never went any further from the screen "preparing to import messages".Â

I am running Lion (latest ver) on my iMac (2011, i7), and have icloud set up to sync mail (and other stuff) with my iPhone 4. My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on. Â

My ISP keeps the last three months of messages on the server, but older stuff - if I install OS X, I'll lose it. Is there a handy-dandy utility that will do this? Where are the files kept? I'm learning AppleScript out of boredom and could probably throw together a script to back it up, but I'd need to know what the files were.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMail has been working well for a year on a mac air. mail had been running on my computer yesterday and, I assume it crashed, because when i got home and opened the computer mail was no longer open. and when I opened it it started running me through setup as if i had never used the program.there was no way to open mail without going through the setup -- that seems to be a problem to me right there.I kept canceling the setup but then it wouldn't launch mail. so finally i went through setup and resetup one of my email accounts. the name of the inbox is slightly different althought , as it turned out, the name of the outbox is identical.
the program recognized that there was already any outbox with this name but instead of linking with that in some way it instead named the new outbox "delivered" that's cool to avoid a conflict but there doesn't appear to be any way to tell the program just to reconnect with the previous boxes. I can import them but then then they come in an import folder. I'd like to get all my mail for a certain account into the same folder, not have what is essentially an archive folder for each account and an active one.
how to reconnect to these old mailboxes as active accounts, or how when importing to merge the appropriate mailbox with the appropriate account.or to restore mailbox settings/preferences or users or whatever was lost. I do have a backup that includes my library files to sugarsync if there is some kind of restore I could try.

Mac OS 10.4.11. iMac G5 and MacBook. Here is the sequence that leads to the freeze.
System Prefs > Dot Mac > Sync When I click on Sync or Advanced Sync (using my G5) the application freezes(surprisingly I am able to click on iDisk in that application before clicking on Sync or Advanced Sync and I'm taken to iDisk window (iDisk storage, etc.). After I click on the iDisk button if I then click on Sync or Advanced it (the application) will freeze. When I use my MacBook I have no problems i.e. none of the problems noted above for the G5.
Prior to September 15, 2010 I used dot Mac on both G5 and MacBook i.e. synch both of them with no problems. However, I renewed my dot Mac account on September 15, 2010 and that seems to be when my problems started.
