May 5, 2012I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.HD shows no errors.I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log. When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory Apple Care suggested: Trying another network (doesn't work).Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working) What can I do to get around this error?

Apr 8, 2012I keep getting "Open error 18446744073709551594: “Unknown error: -22”" when trying to repair disk permissions. When I boot in recovery mode and try to repair the disk I get the message that the disk can't be repaired that I should back up my files and reformat. Since I hace been hearing about the Flashback trojan I am not sure if it is because my Mac is infected or simply because I somehow messed up with my HD. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Will it be any good to reinstall Lion? Is there any way of avoiding reformatting?

Intel Mac :: Won't Boot After User Login Page - Error Occurred Installing Updates
Jun 11, 2012I logged onto my iMac today and checked for any updates. I found updates for iPhoto, Thunderbolt, Airport and I think Safari. After it downloaded the updates and installed them, it wanted to reboot. Upon clicking ok, it went to a grey screen while initializing the updates, or something to that effect. Then it said an unknown error occurred and press ok to reboot. I presses ok but nothing happened, the box disappeared and the blank grey screen remained.
So I rebooted and the logon screen came up. I put my password in, which was accepted and the iMac moved on to blank grey screen with the darker grey Apple symbol in the middle and the the 'thinking' wheel doing its little circling thing just below that. It's sits there like that and doesn't move to the desktop screen. I've tried rebooting but it stalls at the same point. It's running the latest version of X. It didn't come with any disks and I don't have Time Machine.

Jun 10, 2012I have just downgraded my Mac Book Pro - June 2010 from OS X 10.8 - DP3 12A206J to Lion OS X 10.7.4, as soon as I started checking everything's ok I found out Mail's not working anymore, with the following error showing up. "Mail cannot be opened because of a problem" Check with the developer to make sure Mail works with this version of Mac OS X.
I have tried deleting all accounts from System Preferences, checking the /Library/Mail files, reinstalling Lion, but no luck.Here're the first lines of the log.

Mar 10, 2009I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with Macs, so I recently purchased a real cheap ibook G3 (the clamshell one), which came with no software on it but still has sound(?) Anyway, when I turn the laptop on, there is a startup sound, and then a little picture of a folder with a question mark on it. I leapt into action and bought a copy of OS X 10.0.3, which I assume is old enough to work (this machine is an ibook M2453 366mhz 320mb ram 9gb notebook), and I am not sure if that will even run anything like osx but I wanted to try. So I boot the laptop up, I get a little icon of an old mac and a little cd spinning in the upper left hand corner, it sounds like it is loading things from the cd, and nothing. I let it do that for almost an hour and nothing happened.

Jun 27, 2012One of an ongoing series of issues moving to Lion (whatta workout!). This one involves Mail and iCloud. Porting my MobilMe to iCloud has been problematic - I' ve been asked to do it three or four times, with each time being succesful when viewing through Safari. But now I've realized that the iCloud mail is not being picked up by Mail on my iMac (2009). I go to System Preferences to see if I can do something about it, but iCloud isn't there - just MobileMe.
So I click on MobileMe and (again) it asks me to move everything to iCloud. I do this and some error is generated (can't get it to replicate & don't recall what it was), and I can't sign in - it doesn't recognize my login, although I'm still currently in iCloud via Safari - clear as mud? Yikes. Bottom line: Mail can't get at iCloud mail to download, and sign-in seems broken. In 25 years on a Mac, I've never come across this level of Windows-like challenges.
