I installed a CDROM application on Leopard 10.6.8 which worked fine. I now try to install the same software on Lion 10.7.2 and it does not allow me to open the application. The content is fine, I think the issue lies with the installer?

Recently, Microsoft Word 2011 failed to open and showed the message, "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." I followed troubleshooting instructions on the Microsoft website. Nothing cured the problem, but creating a new user account did enable Word 2011 to open normally. That seemed to imply that "a corrupt user account" was causing the problem. I could not find any instructions about how to repair that, but at some point I came across the suggestion to "hold the shift key down and click on the Word icon in the dock." I did this and Word opened normally in my account. After this, Word opened normally without holding down the shift key. Apparently this fixed the problem.

I did a clean install of the Lion OS, and began to selectively reinstall application programs. I inserted the install disc for my Logic Studio Application, an application which was not cheap, and I am met with the above message when I try to install the software. (Actually, "you can't open the application LogicStudio.mpkg because powerpc applications are no longer supported")Under the system requirements, I find my machine within the guidelines. Also, this software worked fine on this mac machine when I was running the Leopard OS. What is "PC" about my Dual Intel processors?

I used Disk Utility to make what I think to be a bootable firewire drive.I selected the ISO as the source and the External as the Destination. I was opening apps today and realized that the indicator lights weren't activating. I am aware that they can be turned off, but I made sure they were on and I still have this issue. For example, here is a screenshot of my screen with Safari and Settings open, but with no indicator lights. I downloaded an app called Cyberduck, and put it in my Applications folder, as you normally would. But when I open it, it immediately closes again.What's weird is if I put the file in any other folder (Desktop, Downloads, etc) and open it, it opens fine, stays open, and works great.If I put it back in my Applications folder, problem returns.This has happened with a few versions of Cyberduck, in a few different 10.6.x versions of OS X, and both on my old iMac and new MBP.I've never seen this with any other program. You know how there is a blue dot underneath an application's icon in the dock representing that the application is running? Is there a way to change this to another color? I don't see any option for it, so I think it's unlikely that it can be changed but if it can I'd appreciate being told how to change it.
