My one month old iMac does not maintain an interent connection for very long. Sometimes it stays connected for <maybe> an hour, but MORE often it drops either the wifi signal all together or just stops connecting to the internet... when it does seem to have a connection it is VERY slow.
My solution: turn off Wifi wait a few seconds and turn it back on... which is very annoying, but that fixes it.
I have the latest software across the board. I'm running wifi on Time machine. My signal is strong. I have a Powerbook and iPad that connects to it without issues (for a couple of years its been fine until this iMac problem).
Is there any way to permanently keep my iphone and iPad apps OFF of my macbook pro? Every time I connect, I ensure that "sync apps" is not checked, but then iTunes says I will lose my purchases if I don't transfer them over. This does not seem to be the case, however- aren't all of your app purchases automatically registered on iCloud? So I click transfer purchases, but this of course then puts EVERY APP onto my iTunes, which takes up a whopping 36GB of space. I can't afford to have that much space taken up! Should I just ignore the iTunes warning, or is there another way to ensure that iTunes doesn't keep these seemingly useless and HUGE backups on my macbook?
My imac is contected to the intervet via wi-fi but I can 't load any pages on safari or firefox. Both my macbook and iphone have no problem getting online. .
A friend of mine is having an issue with the wifi. When they use a MacBook on a wifi network, it tends to keep the family's IBM laptop off the network. This happens on all networks the two computers try to join, and in some cases other PCs on the network.
anyone knows how to fix my 13" macbook pro keep disc. from wifi every 5 minutes? it's not the router because non of the other laptops/iphone have the problem.
I recently around 3-4 weeks ago update my Mac Book Pro to the new Yosemite software and everything was going fine until I got onto my internet! i was connected to my home wifi and everything was fine! Click into something and said I wasn't connected..! I looked up to see the wifi had disconnected! So i thought it was just a fault in my wifi modem, i manually clicked my wifi again it connected. It wasn't until after the 6th time it happened that i realised it wasn't my network and that it was my laptop! now everytime im watching a movie online or youtube its get disconnected and I have to continuously manually connect to my network! This happens every 2-3 minutes and had been frequent since I have updated! It's super annoying as it interfers with my regular web surfing and have looked for and tried so many things to fix it and nothing seems to work!
I have had recurrent kernel panic attacks on my Macbook pro runnig 10.4.7. This seems to be OK once rebooted in safe mode but I can find the underlying software/hardware problem. The logs are not helping me with this issue.
Anyone have any suggestions. I am thinking of backing up all my files and erasing hard drive and starting with reloading all my applications and then files. The computer is only useable in safe mode at present.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 2.4 gHz i7 and 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I cannot get my mac to sync my hotmail account with my iphone and ipad, yet the iphone and ipad sync mail OK. I have just got the imac and everything else is syncing ok via the cloud. Does anyone know what i need to do?
I just bought a new iMac yesterday at the Apple store. I connected it at home to install a few programs, and the internet worked perfectly. (I also own an older iMac plus a unibody Macbook.) I go to the office today, and the wireless and ethernet cables connect and show bars, but fail to load any pages off the internet. All of the other computers in the office are PCs and connect perfectly fine to the internet using both wifi and ethernet cables. It's just the iMac.
Here are the stats: Configure IPv4: Using DHCP IPv4 Address: 192.168.2.102 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.2.1
Every time I come back to my computer and wake it up, it shows full connection to my network but will not work. After I turn the wi-fi off, and back on, it is fine. How do I get it to work without having to do that every time my computer goes to sleep?
i don't know what i did in Terminal a few weeks ago and now i'm having problems. I firts noticed this when trying to update my ipad and iphone to ios5.1 itunes kept showing the message "connecting to the iphone software actualisation server" but it stayed this way for hours. I think i touched something in Terminal i didn't had to.Can anyone tell me how to reput iTunes in to its default settings using Terminal?
It's not fair that there are wonderfull apps for the ipad and iphone but not the computer - if I had of known, I would have went with an ipad at the time of purchase.
I setup my new iMac (purchased 14 May 2014) with a whole bunch of FaceTime contacts. These are there in my FaceTime pane. I bought an iPadAir last week and also have an iPhone. On both these Apple devices I also entered some FaceTime contact data, tried both out and they worked just fine; that is they talked to each other and other people. As this information was slightly different on all three devices, I wanted them to automatically follow what I have on my iMac, so I plugged them both in to the iMac. I then (separately) did a Sync of both devices from iTunes, and all the data for FaceTime in both cases instead of being updated and streamlined/synchronized with my iMac has been wiped. automatically rather than have to enter and re-enter all the data again and again each time I do a Sync.
Note: when I did the Sync the music I added today went where it should, so there's no problem with connections, etc. On the Info page I've clicked on "Sync Contacts" which would seem to be what was necessary. Now when I try to Sync either of these devices, the Sync process goes on and on and never stops. I can't see any way of stopping it other than doing a Force Quit of iTunes - which is pretty useless as I will obviously want to Sync these and my other Apple devices again in the future. As a result of this neither of these devices will now Sync with my iMac, other than locking themselves into a cintinuous loop. As I've just bought both the iMac and the iPadAir I could contact Apple direct, but I thought I'd try here first.
I have a mac desktop. Just recently, possible since an upgrade to mavericks, it loses its ability to use wifi its clearly recognises as connected. The temporary solution I have involves opening the network and running wifi diagnostics. It always comes back and says it is all fine but it fixes it. ie the act of running diagnostics resolves the problem.
Happens every 10 mins or so when using and is now becoming a sore point.
I am not even slightly technical. I turn on, I type, I turn off.
I get my .mac account emails on my iPad and iPhone but not in mail on my iMac and Macbook. I get a password not recognised error. Is this because of iCloud and my operating system (Leopard)?
Also, is it possible to share an iTunes library between my MBA and my PC so I can sync my iPad and iPhone without having to create a new library? The library file is currently on the NAS and just wanted to use the same one. Would it allow me to sync my iPhone with the PC and the iPad with the MBA using the same library on the NAS? I know this is more of an iTunes question, but figured I would post it here instead of starting another thread.
I cant seem to find a straight answer anywhere, some say this others that. I have 2 iphones 1 pad 1 apple tv 1imac all under 1 account. would like to get a second imac and want to know if I can keep everything under the same account. Do the phones pads and pods count towards your 5 count?
I have used an ibook with 10.4.11 for several years, but only for basic functions.
I am wondering if there is any way to stream my music from itunes on my imac over wifi to listen to it on my iphone. I like to listen to music with headphones as I work around the house, but the phone doesnt hold as many files as the imac.
I've recently upgraded my internet speeds through my ISP to have 50Mbps download and 2Mbps upload. I use my 2TB Time Capsule as a router as it has by far provided the best connectivity than any other router. I run dual network - connect my iPhone 4S through standard network and my iMac through 5GHz network. Since upgrading my speed, I have noticed that my iMac speeds vary greatly, but most of the time I'm struggling to get more than 10Mbps download, however on my iPhone I easily achieve almost 40Mbps. I have tried different browsers, and ensured all other applications are closed and even switched the iMac (2009 i7 quad core) to the standard network. At that point I noticed a slight increase in speed but it was short lived.
I am stumped on what to try next. Does anyone have ideas? The iMac is a little hot, but nothing that isn't normal so I can't put it down to heat or anything. I recently installed Windows 7 through bootcamp but didn't expect that to impact anything, however it was around a SIMILAR time that I noticed issues, as previously I was getting a consistent connection of 20Mbps before I upgraded.
My laptop connects to my imac's wi-fi network even though I have the wi-fi status as "off" in system preferences>network. If I have it off, how can my laptop connect and use the network?
