At some point in the past I must have uninstalled the Mac Address book (or it was lost in an upgrade). How can I re-install that single application from the install disc? I'm running 10.5.8 on a G5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new macbook pro and application install disc keeps failing stating that "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Am I supposed to do something special to get around this?

I have a NIB C2D mini with installed 10.5.4 Leopard. Can I wipe the HHD and then install the 10.4.7 Tiger disk from my earlier model CD mini?
If not, will it work if I install Tiger on an external HD and then firewire it to a wiped C2D?
I have older SW I still want to use and don't need the upgrade Leopard.
I just got a new Mac Mini at work today. I noticed something missing from its small box. Is it supposed to come with a Mac OS X 10.7.x install disc/USB flash drive or something in case I ever need to reinstall, fix, etc.? I only got these items:
1. Mac Mini
2. DVI to HDMI adapter
3. Power adapter
4. White Apple stickers
5. A manual (didn't see any disc and USB flash drive in it?)
If I am missing it, then I hope I don't have to return since I already set it up, installed a bunch of software, copy my data, etc.
had to reinstall my software on my mac mini, can't get my application install to disc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPlease take pity on a confused newbie. I'm running 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 13" Macbook with 1GB ram. My school requires me to run Bootcamp to take my exams. They told us that we need 10.5 minimum OS and must have our 'original system discs'. The installation dics that I have are for Tiger. If I buy an upgrade disc to Leopard/SL, will that contain the windows drivers I need to install after I install bootcamp? Or do I need to buy a full installation disc of Snow Leopard (since I think you can't buy the Leopard full installation anymore)? Another issue someone mentioned is that both Leopard & SL require 1BG ram minimum, which is what I have. I'm worried the os will run very slow, but I don't really have the money to buy new ram and get it install (and don't want to crack the fragile top case) now that I have to buy the new software too.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently tried to run Onyx which has identified a problem which requires me to run disc utilities from the start up disc. The Snow leopard disc I have only appears to offer Install option.
Q1 Have I missed something?
Q2 Otherwise should I try to run Disc Utilities from an earlier version of OSX
Well, my question is very simple: I have a MBA and this other laptop from work, a crappy HP which is old as hell. I'm planning to use Remote Disc to reinstall my Leopard, since the upgrade to 10.5.3 really screwed things here, and I can't figure out why. Point is: instead of running all Leopard installation thru Remote Disc, I would prefer to share Leopard disc 1 over Remote Disc and restore it to a partition on my external HD, making a clone of it, which would install *much* faster. Has anyone tried anything like this? There's any Windows program which allows me to rip a Mac DVD to a Mac partition?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do have a copy of the the Mac Mini SL Client software but I don't have another Mac to create the USB restore disc in order to load the client on the Mini Server via usb drive. I don't intend to use the Server Software and don't want to 'activate' the license so I can resell it instead. Can I just use the Server to create the bootable restore disc without 'activating' the Server License and locking it to my serial number? Or is there another way to create the restore disc if you don't have access to another Mac to run disc utility?
I recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

I'm using a iMac PowerPC G5 that I've received from my brother. He gave it to me with a fresh install of Leopard on it, but he unfortunately no longer has the disc that came with the computer that he also used to format it before handing it to me. With that said, I ordered a new internal hard drive. Naturally, I'll need to re-install Leopard, but I don't have an install disc anywhere. How is this going to be possible? Or will it not be? Do I have to buy a new Leopard install disc? If so where and how much?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an aluminum Macbook from late 2008, model A1278. I just had to replace the hard drive, and need to install an OS on the currently blank HDD. Problem is, my CD drive doesn't work, so I can't just install from a disc. I had installed Mountain Lion on my old hard drive, but the original OS was Snow Leopard. I haven't succeeded in getting any of my information off my old HDD. Is there another way to install either Snow Leopard or Lion onto my new hard drive?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - fail
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Mac. I feel I have been suitably rehabilitated from my former ways. I bought a MacBook Pro. It came with an installation disc for Leopard. I'm not sure if it's an image or if it's the OS install DVD. I bought a Mac Pro, quad Xeon 64 bit monster. The guy I bought it from had to retain the HDD for legal reasons. So, I bought a couple of drives that I'll slot in. Question: Can I use the install disc from my MacBook Pro to install Leopard on my Mac Pro?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows with no problem. Now I need to install the drivers, aka the mac disc. There are 2 mac discs I had in my Macbook Pro package. I put in my first one. It was, surprisingly a blank CD. I put in my second one. It did show BOOTCAMP this time, but it only had the options 'Remote Install Mac OS X' and 'DVD or CD sharing'. I couldn't install them. What is wrong with this. I am certain that the package wasn't fake, since I have the Macbook Pro here, but why doesn't the install CDs work?

I have had terrible problems with my Mac Mini. Apple has replaced the hard drive twice, the SATA cable once and the optical drive once in the first year I've had it. After the latest installation of Lion, I have had repeated problems with the error "Your Mac OS x startup disk has no more space available for application memory." This is false -- I have less than half of my 500 GB in use and 4 GB of wired memory.
I believe that Safari is always running when I get this error. Also, I cannot cleanly quit Safari -- I always must force quit, b/c it hangs when I quit. The last time I got this message, Safari was using 1.26 GB of memory.
My System Memory report is all out of whack:
VM size: 221.25 GB
Page ins: 1.59 GB
Page outs: 40.15 GB
Swap used: 59 GB
This is after only 1 or 2 days of uptime. I have just a couple of weeks left on my Apple Care and am desperate to know if this is hardware problem requiring my 5th trip to the Genius Bar or if this some kind of software problem that I can fix.
On this latest Lion install, I did a clean install with no settings or applications, and I killed extensions on Safari.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Mini (2011) and a MacBook (2006) I want to use my Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 CD on to my Mini using the Remote Disc option. I put the CD into my MacBook and click all the options and follow the instructions from the Apple Support 'MacBook Air, Mac Mini: How to use Remote Disc to share DVDs or CDs from a Mac or Windows-based computer' When I click Remote Disc on my Mini the MacBook shows up and when I click on that, the CD shows up but I can't open or copy the CD onto my Mini. I keep getting an error message which makes no sense.
Incase it was my MacBook (2006) running Leopard was the problem and it being to far behind my Mac Mini running Lion I used my mums Windows Dell Laptop which runs Windows 7 and again, followed the instructions. Same thing, same error message, which I was expecting because I know how Mac hates to open .exe files.
I don't know what to do to solve the problem, can it be solved? Is my MacBook and CDs just to old to copy and install on my Mac Mini, would a MacBook Pro 2010 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 solve the problem? I'd like to know before I save up and splash out any money. The error message says something like it's not supported even though we downloaded the updates the support thing suggested doing if we needed too and something about it can't read it because it's not there or you need to have it installed previously, well how could I have installed the on the Mini if CD it never had a CD drive, where else would I have got the programme from, I haven't found a downloadable version of Office Word or I'd have done that already, by the way, if you know where a full programme download is available?
