View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Macbook Pro. I wanted Pages so I downloaded a free tiral onto my laptop. The trial was soon over and so using App Store, I bought Pages. It said Pages was installed so I restarted my laptop and opened Pages. When I went to save a document, Pages said that I needed to buy Pages and that my trial was over, then it gave me an oppurtunity to put in an activation code. The App Store never gave me an activation code and still says that the new Pages has been installed.

Microsoft's Mac Business Unit this week is making available to Mac users a "fully functional, no strings attached" free trial of Office 2008 so that prospective buyers and users of previous versions can 'kick the tires' on new suite before plunking down the cash for a permanent copy. The 545 megabyte download is available after a quick registration over at the Redmond-based company's MacTopia website. The registration is required to generate an trial product key that will expire 30 days thereafter. Although Office 2008 for Mac made its debut over a year ago, this is the first time Microsoft has offered customers the option of trying the software before they buy it. The trial copy will run side-by-side with earlier versions of Office and includes a year's worth of maintenance and security improvements.
"The MacBU is aware that a number of customers have wanted to try Office 2008 for Mac before purchasing, and they have been working to make this available in tandem with updates to 2008," a representative for the software giant told AppleInsider.*"Today customers can now check out Office 2008 with the fixes and performance enhancements that have been made since launch." I ordered something from RadTech for my MB and when it came, there was a free trial for Stuff Bak included with the documentation. It has a sticker that I'm supposed to place on my MB (or any device I want protected), register at their website for free [URL], and when my MB goes missing the sticker will provide whoever finds it a way to return it to me (plus $20 reward and any additional reward I might offer). Two questions: Has anybody tried this and does this service actually work? I'm kind of curious, but I'm also thinking that the reward might not be enough to deter them from just scraping the sticker off and keeping the MB...

It has: Quote: If you've purchased an iWork '09 box, you'll find the serial number on the Installing iWork '09 booklet. There's only one problem, there's no serial number on the booklet! How do I install using the buy function or do I have to install the full iWork suite again on my computer? Seems kind of silly. If so, do I need to then uninstalling one of my versions of iWork '09? And if so, which one? How do I tell the difference at that point?

This is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - fail
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

I get a message that says that the disk is almost full. In disk utility, it states that 36 out of 37 gb of hard drive space has been used. However when I open the finder window after clicking on the hard drive (the first level showing applications, library, system, users), it only adds up to about 23 gb of space being used once I select calculate all sizes. It doesn't show me the other 13 gigabites that would add up to 36. I don't have the 10.5 CD's since I bought this off of ebay preloaded with the os.
I've already repaired drive holding the shift key upon startup. I've ran cocktail pilot mode to run scripts, repair permissions, empty cache, etc...I turned on invisible items using cocktail to see if I can find the extra gigabites to no avail.
It is not connected to the USB external drive. File Vault is off.

I'm ordering a new iMac tomorrow. I'm a little worried about the inability to open the iMac up and clean any of the fan blades. I know the fan on my tower, the fan on my graphics card, even my ceiling fan gets dusts around here (2 dogs, SoCal dust etc). They require periodic cleaning or the gunk level gets....well....pretty gunky! Is there a filter of some kind that's easy to get to to keep the inside of my iMac nice and clean (read: cool)?

When I search ".mov" on my computer, it shows that there are movies and it looks like they are in iPhoto. When I open the iPhoto application, though, I do not see the movie files in there. i have tried to re-install leopard into my macbook but it is just all a mess. i inserted leopard cd (original copy) into macbook to do a clean install to my new(to me) used macbook. the computer message after choosing language says "cannot install mac osx on this computer".

2. erased hd..still did not work.
3. made partition to install from external hd...now just made a total mess with computer.
4.i try to start computer from dvd drive with original leopard cd...still does not work. says cannot install mac osx to this computer...

I'm waaay behind on organizing my pictures unfortunately, so I haven't worked in iPhoto for a while. When I try to export pictures to the computer it "quits unexpectedly". Hmmm, maybe I should see if there's an update. OK, so the only option it gives me is to spend $14.99 for iPhoto 9.5.1?!?!?
