Hardware :: Unable To Use Netgear MA111 USB Wireless Adapter

Jan 1, 2008

I recently bought a Mac G4 Power PC Graphite used from a friend of mine for $30. (By the way, i'm only 13) My parents said that I cannot buy any new hardware or software for it, including upgrades. The mac is running 10.1.5 with 320 meg of ram. I need to get a netgear ma111 usb wireless adapter to work, otherwise i will be without internet.

Hardware :: Unable To Configure Airport Extreme Guest Account / Hook Up Wireless Gaming Adapter

Nov 14, 2010

I have a guest account set up on my Airport Extreme. I'm trying to hook up a wireless gaming adapter (xbox) to a Slingbox. It's worked in the past with linksys routers that had no security. When I set up the airport, I set security by default, but I want to remove it from the guest account. I just can't find the way to configure the guest account.

I'm sure is's pretty easy, and just a button I can't find, but if someone could point me in the right direction,

I am still having trouble using wireless internet through netgear. I wrote to you guys about this problem earlier this month and your fix only provided a temporary solution (ticket #343148).

I can get wireless activity for about 30 minutes before the internet ceases. I always get an IP address from the router but only intermittent internet activity.

OS X :: Unable To Connect To Netgear Wifi Router / Update Not Working?

Apr 13, 2009

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.

The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.

The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.

Software :: Unable To Access Hotmail/Yahoo While Using MacBook Pro/Netgear

Sep 23, 2009

We have Verizon DSL and use a Netgear wireless router at home. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and can access the internet wireless but cannot access either our Hotmail or Yahoo pages and accounts.

If I turn off Airport and use my Verizon AirCard then I can access everything fine so it seems like there must be an issue with info getting through the Netgear router.

Hardware :: Unable To Know Netgear Router/Airport Xtreme Base Station?

Mar 22, 2009

I have been struggling for ages to get my Internet DSL access through all the rooms in our house but lamentably failed so far.

My main router is a Netgear Wireless DG834G V2, 54MBPS. 2.4 GHz, 802.11g that works perfectly within a limited range.

Hoping to extend my range of access, I have added to it my old Airport Extreme Base Station 54 Mbps 802.11g, connected with an ethernet cable.

But still, the connection fails to connect in one bedroom upstairs, only a few feet away from the bathroom and other rooms that receive both a clear connection.

I tried connecting my some 4 years old Airport Express in this bedroom but I could not succeed having the green light ever?

Can anyone helps with a simple, clear and detailed explanation on how to process to set-up this system right?
Do I really need to have the Apple Extreme connected to the Netgear?

Should I replace the old 834G router by a more powerful one and which model would you recommend?
Or should I scrap Netgear and use only Apple Extreme Base Station (or the latest model)?

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet - Using Wireless Modem To Connect To The Netgear Wgt624

Dec 27, 2007

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.

*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

OS X :: Where To Find IP Address For USB Wireless Adapter

Feb 21, 2009

When both computers Beige G4 (os 9,2,2) and an eMac (os x Tiger) are connected to the internet with wire cables, there's no problem. I can hook up to the eMac from my Beige G4 (os 9.2.2)using Chooser/Appletalk/and inputing the IP address of the eMac (from Network preferences); which lets me connect.

When I'm hooked up to Internet- wireless with Afterthemac n300 usb internet adapter on eMac, my problem is that I need to have an IP Address of the wireless computer (eMac 750mhz) so that I can connect to it with a G4 Beige Mac os 9.2.2) which I can't find. I get the following in the Network preferences: Configure IPv4: Using DHCP (drop menu); IP Address 192.168.2.11; Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0; Router 192.168.2.1 The optional boxes for DNS Servers and Search Domains are empty.

These numbers were suggested by the Internet provider, which I entered in anticipation and before I received the n300. The router which I rent from the service provider is a SIEMENS GIGASET567. So- is there a way that I can change the numbers from above so that I can connect both computers. I tried the IP 192.168.2.11 but eventually a message comes back telling me it can't find the server. Another reason might be if I would want to hook up to the eMac from another office to get information on that particular computer.

Also airport seems to drop its connection pretty frequently and doesn't like to work more than a few feet away from the docking station. I'm hoping it's because the airport card is old. Would an adapter fix this as well?

PowerPC :: How To Use Linksys Wireless Adapter In Powerbook

Aug 10, 2008

Anyway, I have a Powerbook G4 that's about five years old. It doesn't have an internal wireless card so I bought a Linksys wireless adapter to plug into the side of my computer when I first got the computer. It worked fine for years. I recently reformatted my hard drive and now when I insert the wireless adapter it no longer will allow me to connect to the internet. I'm aware that Linksys doesn't have drivers for Mac users so I'm kinda confused how I got it to work in the first place. I don't remember installing any third party software, but I may have-- it was a few years ago. what I should do to allow me to use my linksys card in my Mac? I've heard of Orangeware but I'm not sure if that's the solution.

Oh one more thing, when I plug the card in, an icon appears in the top right corner that shows something is plugged into the port but doesn't allow me to click on it and search for wireless connections.

I have followed the instructions exactly (accessing the adapters internal configuration and setting it to the wireless networks SSID and channel, then going back into the network settings and re-setting it to "obtain IP address using DHCP') When i restart the computer the network status reads as "built in ethernet is active and has a self-assigned ip address. you may not be able to connect to the internet" (the marker next to it is yellow)
needless to say I cannot connect to the internet.
